Started as a mere short story that was spawned from a silly question of "if a platoon of Marines was sent back in time who would win? Them or the Roman Empire" and it got REALLY popular. So now apparently gonna be made into a movie
of the short story, only the first 10 days are posted

And it's neat. I love the concept and the fact the guy is a bit of a historian himself he has actual real senators in the story and it takes place in 23 B.C. when Augustus was trying to deal with a conspiracy leads to a very interesting dynamic. Even more interesting is that these are marines from Afghanistan so they have 2,200 Marines, 150 Air men, 15 civilians, and 60 Afghan Soldiers (liasons and translators and such). Think about that. 60 people who worship a religion not even introduced to the world yet. That dynamic is unexplored atm but could be really cool.
Also the fact that the living conditions are so vastly different back then than now but the Afghan soldiers would know how to make due better in such conditions than the US Soldiers once the supplies run out and, well, ya. I just really like the concept and while the pacing of the short story is a bit too quick, considering it was just started during the guy's lunch break it's really cool.
Can't wait for the movie
