Roundtable discussion on qcdn.org

I'd like to extend my invitation to you to actually play FFXI. the only way you can actually improve the site is if you get an inside feel from a player's perspective. even if you just play casually.... *LOLCASUALFFXI*

We should add a log-in IQ test. Every month, you have to relog in and pass an IQ test. If you fail to pass this test to a certain degree, you should be put on read only.

On a more serious note, I'd like to see the enforcement of in game name being forced in your post name/sig, so we can get these stupid BS artists like Xenmas out of here. Really, outside of community posting is cool, but at least admit you have nothing to do with Quetz if you do.

Unfortunately, those who care enough to worry about whether or not what they wrote is spelled correctly are typically the people who spell correctly to begin with. Everyone else doesn't give a damn.

Fair game. I forgot about that. Oh well, life goes on.

Oh Christ, can you imagine a live action Blazn talking to everybody? Id cry...

On a more serious note, id like to see more action on this board. I love coming here to read anything that anyone has to say, but with the whole drama over the FB and division of the community, its been pretty bland around here to say the least.

A goal id love to see set up would be community expansion, get more fresh faces in here to spice up the discussion a little bit. Other than that, i dont have any problems with QCDN or the way its run (Even the old FB...)

I´ve actually chatted with Blazn before on PlayOnline, and he´s actually nothing like on PlayOnline o.O;

Well, we don´s need a flameboard, as the two new forums work as the new boards could work as a flameboard if the rules were losened up a bit (as in, allow people to talk about other stuff than fluffy bunnies and how nice dogs are).

I dunno about the "fresh crowd" thing. Wether their grammar is good or not, there's bound to be alot who act egotistical and/or won't like how some people here are so direct, or brash and such, and just wind up getting chased away. While new faces is always nice, it's not exactly needed...I mean the board's not exactly inactive.

STOP MAKING ME WANT TO PLAY MELTY BLOOD.

After a while of thinking on it, and not having it around, I also believe the flameboard should return. Not in some panzied up version of it either. The idea behind the original flameboard was if you didn't like it, don't read it. It's a place that isn't for the feint of heart, for those true flame warriors to bring out the gas tanks and have a good time.

It seems to have meant a good deal to the community, considering the amount of posts in other forums that are either flameworthy themselves or mention the removal of the flameboard. I myself enjoyed warming my cup of coffee in the morning to a well written flame. I think it would be nice to see it reinstated in its former glory, no rules, no moderation (save for deleting repeat posts and spam), just flaming.

I think what this place needs is some consistency. If you're going to make "community standards", set them and stick to them, don't bend the rules for this one and that one. If this is going to be a real community site then we have to live with everyone, trolls, pricks, sweethearts and scholars. That means allowing people to speak what's on their mind, whether it is the popular concensus or not, and all of the discussion that follows. I think Mods are capable of stopping thread crapping and irrelevant posting. But I think we need to do away with this utopian "shiny, happy people" mentality that we will all get along and no one should say anything that uses bad language or calls people out for their stupidity. I think people should be held accountable for what they say here (think before you post) so that if people go around quoting them, in sigs or otherwise, they have no one to blame but themselves.

That said, I think this site needs to do away with the largely useless (at least I think) boards known as Neighborhood Watch and Burning Circle. The rules for what can be said in either section are totally ambiguous, three-quarters of the things talked about there are things that would have gone on the flameboard before but are now watered-down ineffective posts that no one can truly respond to because they aren't directly involved in the matter at hand, there's no proof of what's being said... blah blah blah. It's simple. If you're going to have a flameboard, have one. If not, don't. But get rid of the half-assed stuff because it really is a waste of space. I think the flameboard was a good and bad thing. Sure there were people who lived there and it was the only reason they came here. And I'm sure that more than one person was flamed who could have just been having the crappiest day imaginable. But I think that I'd rather have a flameboard where one can rant and bitch and have people actually be able to respond than a lame, divided so-called problem-resolution or debate forum where you can't say jack. No I don't want to see a forum with "Your momma so fat" and "Yeah? Well you're a (*)&@^#*$(#*," as the sole content, and i'm sure the mods can assure that wouldn't happen. What I do miss, is the discussion and debate that came from the subjects brought up. Because really, that's what's been missing here for a while. General discussion can only cover so much.

I also agree with the AH board alteration. It would be helpful to be able to respond to those posts.

If it's possible, I would like to see a return of the contests that ran here for a while... The screenshot contest and the like. It's fun stuff that may move someone to participate that wouldn't ordinarily.

More than anything, I'd like the assumption to be that we're all grown up enough to conduct ourselves halfway decently and slap down the ones who need it when the time comes rather than all of us be treated like children as a rule in an attempt to make everything PC. Thanks for asking for our input. I think that's a huge step in the right direction.

general discussion is about the best part of qcdn latly. i do enjoy coming on and seeing pertaining questions asked, good data brought to the public and intelligant discussion. event scheduling has always been the same, thou a seperate CoP section that would show some kinda of chart to let people know who is on/looking to do a particular CoP mission and thier corrisponding in-game name would probably eliminate all the thousands of stereotypical cop posts.

burning circle is about the most useless board imo. any topic presented is never going to come to a qwell. because everyone is right... and never will admit wrong, it's the way of the self-righteous, eliteist, morons that seem to be growing at a astoudning rate.

NW is accually moderatly helpful. the posts that derail about after the 3rd page are not so much thou. they just turn into "dwed no wai, tats muh frend. he's swoo gwed playur. j00 r teh stpooid lawl"

good times is fine too. everyone wants to share thier acomplishments. thou the "topic title: wow, i got my first job lvl 20!" are ummm.. lol

Make it so when you quote someone that whoever they quoted follows over into your reply.
Yeah, I'd love to have that back, no clue why we even lost that feature.

On another note, I don't think anyone on this board doesn't want the FB back in some shape or form, other than the ex-trolls who basically got a clean slate with it being deleted.

You still can do it, you just have to put effort into making the quotes work. Although it's rather effortless when it's only 2 quotes, I bet if I did more, it'd become more of a pain in the ass and less worth while.

Edit: I think the reason we lost it was when Sculli did the update and changed the board around like 6+ months ago. I think the code didn't allow it and it's not somehting you can just click on and off.

personally i dont.
i dont really find much wrong with the forum at all, im fine with how it was being handled, but then again im not picky ^^

That's why I said in some shape or form. I'm sure there's some kind of improvision that could be put in place that you would support.

Just hypothetically speaking.

The reputation system imho doesn't really show much, think the thanks button should be back. Maybe a system that incorporates both, like a "boo" button with the thanks button that shows how many times that person has been proven "wrong"?

FB is funny to read and easy to vent and make yourself feel better. Doesn't matter much to me whether its back or not, reading qcnn, makes me wonder why one needs reading a few threads on FB there didn't seem to serve a point just bickering and cursing.

You should have a limit on the quote after quote what decidence(i think was saying) like a limit of 3 max.

All I can think of for now...

I think having a char room would be cool. also if the FB ever comes back it would need like 3-5 mods on it to keep the pease

The site itself functions well. The community is full of assholes though.
I just want to apologize, because of a slight error. I meant to slap on a "j/k" at the end of this and I didnt. I didnt realize my mistake until after everyone replied and got pissed lol. My bad, sorry, fixed.
