RROD? Might as well be

Ok..two weeks and I still haven't received my damn shipping label. No option to print it out online. I've emailed them 4 times and get the same automated response telling me to login to my account and print it out, but of course no such option exists and I keep telling them that.

I've tried calling, but all I get is a computer telling me I can now repair my console online with no option to actually talk to a representative. Anybody have a better idea on how I can get in touch with an actual human being at M$$$$$?

On the phone you have to go through the troubleshooting bullshit like you DIDNT have a red ring of death, then it will get you to speak with someone.

Usually just hitting 0 brings you to an operator. Or just say operator/representative or something lets you cut past all that stuff.

I had to go through account/billing and made them get a rep for hardware. They canceled my old repair order and did a new one. I was able to print out a label after that.

Yeah theyre idiots, took me three attempts when my xbox fucked up (didnt red ring but wouldnt read discs) for some reason the troubleshooters kept cancelling my order after placing it, go figure. Good luck with this man, many of us know just how frustrating it is.

I just fixed my xbox :D I think it cost me total of $20-$25 for 5 mm screws, nylon washers, torx 8 and 10 screwdriver and arctic thermal paste. At first my xbox just froze playing Fallout 3, but for some reason other games worked fine.. then it froze more and more often at just random moments, and eventually it got to the point where it wouldn't even get to the dashboard. After freezes, sometimes I'd get the RROD, sometimes I could start it up at which point it'd freeze again. I followed this guide::

aka Lawdawg or search for 3 Red Light Fix

All said and done the only issue I have now is not entirely being able to close the box back up lol I kind of got aggravated and may have belligerently opened the lid on my 360 so closing it up may or may not happen :) But I'm stoked I have my 360 back and it's working so far, only had it up and running for 30 minutes but didn't crash once. By the by, I tried using this guide skipping the cleaning of the CPU because I didn't have the paste at the time, unfortunately when it went to the two light phase it stayed there, but once I applied the arctic silver, got to the two light phase, let it cool down a couple minutes it worked like new. So if you're having RROD issues, this is definitely worth a shot - it's possible it's the x clamp needing to be removed and it's also possible if you've had an xbox for a couple years you just need to reapply the thermal paste. Hope this helps someone, cheers.

fallout 3 freezing..

After extensively cleaning/repairing my 360 and putting humpty back together again, other games work fine but STILL Fallout3 freezes during the loading screen after the start menu. The game doesn't appear too* scratched, it has some little knicks and dings here and there but no more so than any other game I use frequently. That sound like the disc is ruined and I should get another or there something wrong with my HDD since I'm playing it from my hard drive? I bring up the hard drive issue because I popped fable 2 in the other day and my evil character (which I had really worked on.. but the game was completed so I'm not too concerned) was no longer accessible because the save file was corrupted.. I'm at a loss

souinds like it could very well be a hardrive fail, but have you tried clearing out your cache? games like oblivion and fallout are known for freezing from cache issues, try clearing it and updating it again and see how that pans out for you.

It also takes some balls and patience to perform the x-clamp fix on your own, but its very rewarding when your done, i have performed countless x-clamp fixes for friends, but i have never had to do it for myself. So my first run was on a friends x-box who fully trusted me not to fuck it up, i was pretty nervous but it turned out to be way easier than i expected.

Thanks, it was def. easier than I thought it'd be going into it. I took my time, made sure the CPU was mirror finish like the dude said and it worked.. it was either that or buy a new console soo i'd at least give it a shot. I was wondering though.. if the hard drive did crap out, could I just get a memory card to put my save games on? It did it again with my most recent Batman save.. I was like 50% in and the save file got corrupted.

yes a memory card would work.
If your interested in maybe getting a new hard drive for cheap, there are methods of buying a cheap notebook hard drive and making it use able on the 360

My friend just got the E-74 Error on his xbox.. will the 3 red light fix work for that error?

Nope, E74 is a dead GPU.
