Ryunohige
DMG:91 Delay:492
Augments "Jump"
"Drakesbane"
Aftermath (Incl. Wyvern):
Increases Acc./Atk.
Occasionally attacks twice
DRG

Delivers a fourfold attack. Chance of critical hit varies with TP. Ryunohige: Aftermath effect varies with TP

not as shiny as the new pld sword but still looks good.

four fold ws with crit mod should be able to beat penta so um ya this is what I'm working for, glad I already have a nyzul static at floor 100. Be interesting to see what the augments jump does but um lol at giving wyvern double attack guess it was as creative as they could get.

beware my stupid info!

i know most people who read this are gonna flame me for saying this but still. Giving the wyvern Double attack will actually help my solo capability and i pride myself on soloing. Its really fun and with the wyvern getting tp faster its curing ability will actually increase, and its damage will get a nice lil push too. So im thankful.

(p.s) Who knows, these could still have hidden effects couldnt they? i mean the relic weapons do, ioono ill shut up now.

I'm excited for it, when I saw the original stats of Ryunohige I knew I'd try for it from the getgo. Now that aftermath affects the wyvern too, the sparks are gonna fly. So far I only need to beat armored chariot and gurfurlur the menacing, and get my disk to floor 100. Already have the Radiant Lance though, so I'm excited to try out the new weapon skill sometime this week. I was always envious of Gungnir for having really good shock spikes after Geirskogul, making soloing much easier, I'm wondering how much easier this'll make soloing now. Quick death to solo xp mobs? Holler.

I think they said, it makes Jump a Crit Hit, not sure.

ya that's what the people from whatever web site it was that got to test it said... I tend to doubt this as that would be well simply too overpowered imo. also a lot of "enhance jump" items seem somewhat questionable as to what they do, consider AF feet, some say they improve jump crit rate others say it effects VIT mod on jump. (either way I think full ares set wins just so I'm not gonna worry about it much)

PS. don't get me wrong double attack on wyvern is better than nothing it's just that my wyvern hits so weak compared to me(even with several tier 2 merit sets I've tried) that I see trying to improve its damage as well pretty meh, when plds are getting +10 enmity -10% damage taken and lose less hate when taking damage. Having pld lvled (and used for a lot) but wanting to upgrade this first anyways is well hard lol

Why do they gotta come out with all of this cool stuff for DRG after I quit D:

Anyways this seems like a cool new weapon.

And do all jobs get a new weapon with new WS like relics?

Got Drakesbane last night. Doesnt seem to be SCing with much at all. The damage is very solid, replaceable to penta I think in XP. Though I'm not sure if its gonna be any good for HNM+.

On lesser colibri with no buffs/food, no DA I poped a 2225. EP mobs is no big deal but I think thats still pretty high. Penta would be barely doing that with DAs. In campaign its damage is very sporatic. On Fortifications I got a high of 266 with a DA. (no food/buffs again) Orcs were taking anywhere from 750-1200 damage on normal 19% tp return for me. 1400+ on DAs. I'm only running 62+30 DEX. Thinking if I can add +8 DEX for an even 100 it'll get me better chances at crit.

It looks awesome btw.

No Nyzul group yet so no WS for me, but a few comments:

1. The skillchain properties have already been discovered. It's Fusion primary and Transfixion secondary.
2. I would stack STR before I'd stack DEX trying to force a higher critical rate. Luckily most good STR pieces offer both.
3. Given the numbers you've mentioned and comparing to my own with Penta Thrust and Skewer numbers on the same targets I can say that Drakesbane will easily outperform both.

I'm pushing for some people in my LS to make runs through Nyzul Isle soon, so maybe in a month or so I'll have some numbers of my own to report.

More info on how to get the WS and how many WS points it will take.

get the weapon (Radiant Lance), wear it and talk to the NPC Zashblam (something like that) in the Goblin shop in Lower Jeuno. He'll say some BS, and basically start the quest for u, then you're ready to break your latent.

With runic key (floor 100 record), you only need 250 WS points to break latent.
Without it, its apparently +250 WS points for every 5 floors.. meaning about 5000 WS points if you're recorded at Floor 0. Disgusting really.

Once your latent is broken, the WS from the weapon (in this case Drakesbane) will appear on your WS list, You can now use the WS but only with this weapon.

Take the weapon back to LowJeuno and trade with the same NPC, and voila, you've learnt the WS for good.

you still get to keep the weapon, for those concerned about using it for Mythic upgrade

Hardly something casual players can do imo, but luckily my static is almost on floor 60..

Would the Aftermath double attack on Wyvern stack with giving Wyvern double attack from WAR Sub? or Would its only benefit would be for subs other than WAR for Wyvern?

I assume it would be something like giving the wyvern the same double attack it gives the person so depending on how mythic double attack works it would probably leave some small bonus from double attack trait but it would be much smaller, again though it'll be a while before anyone has one to try it out ><

but what would u get gungnir or this lol this is looking far better then the agi mod ws and double attack would be nice too

To me Gungnir would still be better for solo, due to the shock spikes after Geriskogul which from what I remember are as effective as mother globe's. DRG/SAM would make better work with Ryunohige though, what with aftermath being on more often. Both are still good, and to me I guess it depends what you do more.

Ryonohige will utterly destroy Gungnir unless Zilart relics are buffed. If this 91 base damage weapon acts the same way as the WAR weapon described here then you are basically looking at a Damage 150 weapon [via the aftermath and Double Attack] versus a damage 100 [Gungnir,] 95 [V. Fork,] or 94 [Thal +1] weapon. They said they would buff Zilart relics... and with the Mythics acting like this, they're gonna have to.

edit: link didn't work

not to mention the huge tp bonus of double attack allowing you to spam drakesbane like crazy.

also keep in mind you have to use gungnir's ws to get the shock spikes with it and on just about anything that's giving up a lot of damage to drakesbane. Every recent report I've read has said that gungnir's defense down is over writen by angon which makes that a very small bonus for gungnir.

Unfortinately mythics are like rediculus to get even compared to relic, could probably get 2-3 relic done faster than one mythic.

found this in an interview from SE
As for job balance, take Samurai for example, there seems to be the impression that all other melees look weak in comparison. What are your impressions, and future plans, regarding this situation?

Gondai: I think Samurai is fairly popular because it is strong. Previously, we strengthened two-handed weapons, but overdid it and had to weaken them a bit. Weakening them once again isn’t something I think we will do. Instead, we will expand upon the specialties of other jobs.

I see. Are there any front-line jobs you’ll be expanding upon now?

Gondai: Well, with Dragoon we’re thinking of improving the damage output of their Weaponskills, specifically buffing their Mythic Weaponskill. After that, there are various minor tweaks we are tossing around. I can’t say what order this will all be done in, but we’re always looking at all jobs. We aren’t really looking to nerf anything.

don't change your minds SE!

Lol, I think so many people would bitch they would nerf it... Drakesbane pwns already.
