While I don't really have an opinion on the salvage run (which I guess doesn't even matter anymore) I do agree with this. If you hang out with known cheaters you should expect to catch some heat when they're flamed. I know I for one do not give a damn about the accomplishments of someone who cheated... ever (I too will let bare windower slide). This good time thread went downhill from the moment the name (and therefore reputation) of a known cheater got brought up. I don't think it is anyone's fault for taking jabs at the cheaters. If you don't want that to happen then I wouldn't mention their names (or don't let them join in the first place as a lesson to cheaters).

I feel sorry for those that didn't cheat because your thread got messed up and you probably don't individually deserve to be flamed, but please understand that other people may look at it as a "corporate effort", like if you were in an exp PT with RMT and then posted about your xp/hr. Because of the RMT presence your thread would already be ruined by the very first post; yours. No offense, that's just life in FFXI.

Ummm... yeah. The "I didn't get caught" defense doesn't exactly work. Chasym went out in a ball of flames and told us that even though he was a supplier of hacks and did a lot of hacking himself he didn't get in much trouble. The inability of SE to actually catch you does not equate to a defense that the crime either never happened or wasn't serious. That's like saying that a tree falling in the forest doesn't make a sound because no one was around to hear it.

The bottom line is that being exposed for hacking has damaged your reputation and the disrespect you are getting is a result of your own actions. If you don't think hacking is a big deal then getting flamed for it shouldn't be a big deal either.

Uzor, I think you were a bit too quick in your reply. I never said that they did not deserve what they accomplished. I said they should expect to catch some heat (i.e. verbal lashing) when the cheaters are being flamed if they were involved and talking about it in public. I also said that I personally don't care about the accomplishments of someone who cheated. I didn't say their team didn't deserve to win. I just couldn't care less that they did. Should they be prevented from talking about the good time they had and sharing their joy? Of course not. But don't expect everyone to be happy for them.

I mean honestly, Uzor, and you've always been cool with me because you helped me out a long time ago and I know you helped a lot of people, do you really want to hear a PT gloating about how they got a Kclub when you know that they went with someone who is or was a botter? Forget that this person didn't cheat...this time. Can you ever really be happy for them? Maybe you can. Maybe you see those actions as not that bad and easily forgiveable. But in defense of the many people who have camped for hours and those who will never camp again (changing the way they play the game) because of this issue I have no love for cheaters and really don't give a damn about what they can do in this game.
