Sanoske

Well we all know my obvious stance behind something such as this. I only have a question. Sorry if it's already been asked, I wasn't willing to read every post and glanced my way to the last post.

Every time my friends have quit the game, or taken a long break, they usually hand out their gil among each other. Whether they know those friends in person or on this video game.

I just have to ask, why wouldn't you give it all to a friend, or a group of people? I know I would be slightly hesitant to give it to people I don't know in person. Only slightly, because some of the people I've met have rung true and have generally been on the same page as me since day one.

I can't say the same about you, but what gives? There really was no one you felt it might have helped or someone who may have enjoyed it?

When my friend quit for the second time, we both shared a Kraken Club, but he had a lot better gear than I did. Not only did he give me the club, he also gave me all the gil and his character itself, which I still use to this day - just not by choice.

The first time he quit, he sold his Thief's knife and Strider boots, which resulted in a 45,000,000G spending spree in Batallia Downs for Dowzer.

Two years ago, the second time he quit, roughly between 150~200,000,000G would have been quite a pay out. Not to mention the 45,000,000G the first time he quit.

Why did my friend give it all to me, instead of selling it for a night of hookers and blow?

I'll answer it for you this far, he's still a good friend.

At least you admit it was an insult, rather than trying to play it off as well wishes. I couldn't care less on your opinion of me outside the game, but you of all people should stick to your guns... since that's what you're all about. If it's a jab, it's a jab.

Dude, it's the flameboard... lol. The well wishes are actually sincere, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give you accolades and applause like some of the fodder around here. Like I told you both, whether people are going to admit it or not, no one's going to look at you the same again. Look at Chasym, he still gets called a botter and he hasn't played in over a year. Better get used to jabs since you opened this can of worms yourself. If you could turn back time and not make the Good Times post, would you?

You mean you had to PM me to ask me to tell Mistra not to say "mean things" to Rappa. Yet again being a hypocrite. I never had to save John, he's perfectly capable of speaking his mind.

Because at the time i liked you. I thought you were decent human being.. Even though Rappa said you're an evil bitch. Guess he was right.

Yes, I'm an evil bitch because my friend said something that hurt your boyfriends feelings. Yes, I am the puppetmaster of all my friends. I'm glad I saw how two-faced you really are though. At least I'm not a vindictive lapdog.

C'mon, keep it on topic, I want to see if there's a good enough reason for being selfish.

I've given out some gear the few times I've left, although I won't lie and say it's been a lot. To be totally honest, all the people who I was close enough to give massive amount of gil to have left the game or don't play more than once every few weeks.

I do have about ~5M left on my account that I was saving in case I came back, but I knew I wasn't... just kind of a last hope. It was/is going to a good friend who still plays.

Oh, I'm totally aware of that. I knew the shit this would cause when I posted. However, I don't buy into the "real life insults" deal. I'll bash you based on what I know in-game, but I make no claims to know anything about you outside the game, but that could just be me. Otherwise I could probably make some pretty colorful insults on this whole sidetrack with Mire, but not my style or my place. If you want to bash me on stealing Oracle's Robes, or whatever else I may have done... bash away!

Sorry Dowzer, this flame's about me now apparently. Only on qcdn would a flame about someone admitting to selling gil be turned around onto one of the only people actually saying it's wrong, lol.

I'll step forward and agree with you in saying it is wrong.

That's understandable but I can't say I would do the same thing.

I have a great reason to be selfish, among tuition, credit card debt and bills to pay, I'd still keep the gil clean.

God forbid those fucks find a way into identity theft, as they already steal accounts (RMT, although highly unlikely) I do not trust companies like that with my credit information.

Sorry but you can get an understanding of a person's basic character by how they conduct themselves in a setting like ffxi. You may not act exactly the same irl because there are other forces keeping you in check (namely fear of consequences), but your underlying character is still the same.

I did do that, I logged on one night and gave away in excess of ~45 Mil gil to Valkyre members.

Also, I've never seen so much nerd raging in a topic, this shit is giving me a woody.

Maybe. I will be the first to admit I do some stupid shit, which I can guarantee most of the people on these forums have done at one point or another in their lives. I make mistakes the same as anyone. But trying to defend my personal conduct to a group of people who have never met me doesn't really work too well.

Look Dia, just because you ninja'd my D.feet doesn't mean your a big man.

You have no idea how long I waited for those DFeet, dude. I just couldn't wait any longer. Can you blame me? Can you really?

While my opinion in this matter is ultimately going to be ignored i just feel i should throw my 2 cents in just cause i can...

i prefer to keep relatively to myself so i don't know sanoske personally, but i do have some friends ingame that do, and honestly from what i've heard about his generosity with gears and gils and such it really doesn't suprise me that he sold gil, and whatever good for him he made rl profit off a game, and while i dont condone selling gil or hacking or what not i don't care cause you know what? it doesn't affect me nor has it ever affected me.

now if my account got hacked by a character from the company(s) he sold to then yea maybe i would be a little bitter but i protect my account the proper way so i don't think that will ever be a problem.

now about the whole thing about "knowing how a person is by how they conduct themselves in an mmo" all i have to say is...srsly? you really think you can make accurate judgement of character by how they act in a game? cmon now, this isnt a fucking psyche class it's a game...plain and simple...thats why i don't really get into these internet arguments cause ultimatly at the end of the day you close your laptop and never have to really deal with any of these people ever again, so why bother getting so involved?

and let's be serious here, how many of you stone throwers are without sin yourself? do you really honestly expect us to believe that you're such exemplary examples of moral authority that you can persecute sano and people like sano for doing the things they do in this game? please...we all have skeletons in our closet and the fact that you are going to such great lengths to point out his flaws just says to me that youre trying to hide something...but hey that's just me what do i know.

so in closing, sano, gl irl. never knew you personally but i've heard alot about you, and i don't give a shit if you sold gil, i will say this though, when it comes to the point where you have to sell gil, you shoulda quit years ago cause at that point the game has nothing left to offer you

take care man

Maybe next time you should fix that noose, punk!

Which is why you shouldn't have created a thread for the main purpose of advertising the fact you sold gil. Like I said before, it was essentially an FU to the majority of the players (and former players) on this board. You had to have known that when you posted it.

If you did not want to have to defend your personal conduct to the board, you should not have blatantly posted it. You were going for a reaction, don't complain when you get one. :)

I thought the point already got across in the good times thread... and I was happy to hear no one got any infractions for anything that was posted because the OP basically was a bait itself to the server.

I'm not really interested in debating moral grounds, making comparisons to RL stuff and personalities and all that jazz. I do wonder though how the QCDN community would respond if someone like Peregrine came on here and said the things that Sanoske said. For those of you talking about throwing stones, why not ask yourselves if instead it was someone that the majority of the community DIDN'T like during their playtime, would you be reacting the same way? Like I said in the good times thread, its the "Chasym Effect." Everyone sites around talking about putting bullets in all the RMT's heads and wanting to ban all the hardcore hackers (not little shit like windower, that topic would end up 200 posts long) that "ruin" the game for them.

And don't forget its a 4k TOTAL. Over two years, the gil was sold in bits. I see people telling others "think about it, four grand." Its not 4,000 bucks in your face. Its bits at a time. If you're that far behind on your bills and you're logging into FFXI "for fun" but you need money... wouldn't it make more sense to maybe, you know... log off, look for a night time job? I agree that $4000 is a nice chunk of change, but its nothing compared to the chunk of change something more legit and steady could get you over two years.

Speaking about Sanoske in FFXI terms, I never had a personal issue with him until his good times post. An eyebrow raised when he joined Pansies, but I was sure he had his reasons and whatnot. Now that this crap has come into the light, I'm incredibly happy he's gone and also pretty embarassed that he was a part of some of the linkshells I was in. I really don't get why suddently RMT doesn't = RMT now. All the RMT's over in China, they're doing it for a job to often feed their families. They deserve to be shot, but when Sanoske does it he gets praise and fond farewells because he's putting it towards college and didn't have to "work" for it, lol.

I never started playing FFXI to expect some payout. Like all other games, I expected it to take up all my free time. Knowing that I could make money off the gil that I have and my character doesn't really do anything for me even though I could use the money. I guess we all have our own levels of pride and in the same regard, I take pride in knowing that the people I surround myself with, though some handfuls of people may think that they are assholes, share that same level of pride with me. I'm not going to call Sanoske "trash" because that word I've only used to describe one person in this game/on this forum. (Guess who!) Its a shame when RMT's really were starting to hurt badly that someone I considered a cool guy helped keep their business afloat.

Well, in the end... as long as you can type well, you have a sense of humor and you can speak the English language, QCDN.. RMT is ok!

This.

"Chasym Effect."
More to the point for me, this. I found it off when Chasym got pats on the back for hacking, and I find this even more odd.
