sarah palin prank call

"Ya sure, you betcha'!"

actually no. living in such places as orlando (florida) and virginia beach fairly nixed any kind of accent i might have otherwise assimilated into.

it's kinda funny when i go out or meet new people, i normally get asked "you're not from around here, are you?"

when i answer "no" and they say "well where are you from then? i can't quite place your accent", i say "let's say i'm from the east coast of the US and leave it at that".

I will say this about this election and its merchandising.

I...fucking...hate... those damn McCain/Palin stickers with the Hippie-writing that reads "You Betcha!", or "Read my Lipstick!"

It's undignified.

lol, I get asked where in England I'm from sometimes. It's not necessarily an accent but an inflection of the words. I've also been mistaken for a Californian. All west coasters pretty much speak the same, as do east coasters.

Its not hippie, its scandanavian. Its what basically all of northern MN is, and its how most of the US thinks MN talks. I don't know why alaska wants that accent. Maybe its because they want to be more hardcore like MN, but it isn't happening.

I went to a meeting in Las Vegas and when I told people where i was from, they asked me why i didn't talk like a bumpkin. I told them i had been workin' real hard on trying to fit in with them city folk.

It should also be noted that i moved to MN from South Carolina, after i had already established my southern accent. I had a fun childhood.

I'll admit to following up questions with eh, but I figure it's a long more polite than HUH. I find it's a polite quick way of indicating you want a response from the person rather than just throwing out a rhetorical question, to be fair I use 'rad' and 'awesome' a lot in my everyday vocabulary. The one that I don't get is the "Aboot" instead of about...I have never, ever ever heard anyone use "aboot." the only Canadians I know that have funny speak are the newfoundlanders - I know on CFCN they use subtitles when ever they're interviewing them.

Didn't they nail bush with the PM thing when he was Governor? On that 'talking with Americans' yeah they did...Comes about 3:30 into the video...El oh El

Aboot lol. Yea, I don’t get that one either. You say rad? >.> Ok fine, I say dude a lot. And roof, not ruff.

i gave zephayra hell a few nights ago for saying something that sounded similar to "aboot".

Sweeping generalizations like how Canadians says "eh" and put maple syrup on everything?

lol.

Really though, if your school system taught you about anything outside of your country, that's awesome.

Hrm I thought that maple syrup was more of a Vermont sterotype. :P lol

Seriously though, even if your school system teaches you about current leaders (which I'm pretty sure mine did at the time), that doesn't really help you after school. At this point unless someone shows up either in my CPA prep materials or in my mba classes, it's pretty unlikely I'm going to notice them. You'd be surprised how seldom world leaders come up during an auditing class!

And no, I will not give up my precious bit of WoW time to watch the news. -.-

Where I live you get free newspapers to read on the skytrain while you go to work in the morning :)

That and I listen to the news while I put on my "face" before work in the morning. >.>

Well I drive to work and there is no way to escape my 45+ minute phone call on my way with my mom to listen to the radio! lol This is also true of my drive home.

We have the news on downstairs in the morning, but by the time I get down there I have about 5 minutes before I have to rush out the door lol. >.>; What I catch is usually just local Chicago news.

I miss reading the newspaper though, maybe I should order a subscription.
