i think you missed something here. it reduces defense by 20% which is ~51/256. Apparently the game works a lot of things out as 256ths.

angon is actually pretty good... if you have to have drg. which id probably rather not.

I always figured it was a cap of 51 at 256 defense. Oh well. Tomahawk still doesn't reduce defense though.

So uh.. Angon doesn't last as long as Acid Bolts and has a 3 minute reuse? Yeah. Gonna go with that.

do me a favour tho and carry on telling ppl it is 51 defense. makes it sound like it sucks.

i dont want all these drgs popping up acting like they have a use all of a sudden.

had a DRG in a pt once, killing colibri. Hailie was his name if I remember right.. Also had Angon.

This DRG pwned every single colibri, and Angon GREATLY reduced damage. My criticals, as slashin damage, would normally hit in the 200's, while Hailie was hitting upwards at about high 200's-300... But when he used Angon, my criticals jumped to 300ish, while his went to around the high 300's-400.

Also, Weapon Skill damage was increased by hundreds of damage points, which I dont think would be seen from just 51 defense.

But, I could be wrong. This could all be coincidence.

But anyway, DRG are very good DD if used right. I dont think a lot of people take into consideration that birds are weak to polearms/piercing

Edit: Checked Wiki, its definitely 20% decrease

you know, I was thinking about lvling warrior just because of AA. I got full archery merits on me atm and when i was lvling warrior a month or 2 ago, my Racc was as good as a ranger at that lvl would be(lvl 32-35 against weapons outside garlaige were doing almost 100 each w/ at least 75 Racc(and berserk compared to 50-60 w/o)). I figure with those merits and War/Nin w/ genin earring and all that junk, i could prolly hit for Mass damage with /rng, but then theres that thing about hate.....

while yes it not a "def down" it work in same way

mean you hit mob, mob take more dmg.

As for angon don't knock it unless you try it, it a pretty big difference in dmg.
 
Tomahawk does not work on every mob. It will only work on certain mobs that have special defense IE Elementals, pudding etc. Other than using it on those type of mobs all Tomahawk will do is give you a nice little hate spike.

And AA is pretty useless on anything that counts. WARs marksmanship caps at 210. When I solo on EP-DC, with Seiryu's kote, Ohat and dual sniper's I still have problems hitting mobs consistently. This is w/o sushi mind you, but even with it, I highly doubt you'll be hitting merit mobs on a consistent basis.

I put 2 merits into Savagery. That way with a Martial Bhuj all I need is 180 TP and my Steel Cyclone will hit as if I had 300 TP which is pretty dam nice.

WAR/RNG loses it's luster after about 65, when the skill difference gets huge.

I can't remember the guys name but one of the Alla legends (no really, they do exist) did WAR/RNG from the 30s up to the 60s. This was just before the WAR/NIN bandwagon opened it's doors, so he didn't have any parses comparing him to other WARs. But he was pimped, pcc + the right HQ r.acc rings, and he was owning shit hard until the 60s. By that time he said Sidewinder was missing too much and he started falling behind in the parses.

Keep in mind this is also before the ranged distance update.

BC40: Worms Turn is about the only place that WAR/RNG is useful these days. Everywhere else, /THF /NIN /DRG /SAM will do you better.

Thats because Hailie is a freakin beast. Whereas the general Drg population is not.

Also: Hailie = she, not he.

I may be getting the name wrong, but Idk.

If I remember right, Hailie is Kotsu's brother, or something... Im totally forgetting now, so idk lol

I could be mixing up names, its just that Hailie is whats standing out. I remember typing something into LS chat, which only Kotsu had, and Hailie was replying to it in PT chat, lol. I was thinkin "wtf, Hailie isnt in this LS" and Kotsu said it was because he was right next to him.

Hmm, Kotsu could clear this up for me
 
Hollie is Kotsu's bit... er, lady friend. Merited with both of em last week.
 
Yeah that's probably who you're confusing Hailie with; we had a party with Hollie, Kotsu, Cmd, and Eleibfrid not too long ago'—'v The THF's name evades me(lol shaddup I <3 cheese) but damn he was doing a great job of pulling.

Do you not understand what he meant by "melee resistances"?

It's not simply "defense." It's against mobs that have specific resistances to types of damage, such as slimes, elementals, skeles, whatever. Yes, against those mobs, Tomahawk is useful, but just about every mob merit pts exp off've are not resistant to anything, this is one of the reasons we merit off've them.
