silent hill for me too, its the only game that kept me up at night, not because i couldnt stop playing...but because i was scared to continue. At really creepy moments (like the disconnected telephone) i would turn the system off and sit there creeped out and not be able to sleep. that game had me.

Silent Hill 2 for me. The first one was pretty creepy, but the second one had music that set the perfect fearful atmosphere (only when playing in the dark though :-p)

BLOOD 3D for DOS is the scarest i played, it got me jumped sometime when a monster is from behind lol

hmmm hmmm hmmm after 2-3 hours of playing i would just get so scared but couldnt stop lol but eventually had too lol was lots of fun though

i wish a game of silent hill caliber would come out for next gen systems, i want somethin to keep me up creeped out all night again, that experience is something ive never had again in a game.

omg those things lol, I remember id be walking to school and swear that i heard that static sound, my best friend and i both still talk about hearing that everywhere we went and stopping cold in our tracks.
After i saw the movie i was at work and someone turned on a floor waxer and it made that WHIRRRR sound from the movie, I stopped in my tracks and looked at my friend with my eyes wide open and jaw dropped, He had the same look till we realized what it was. Man, only silent hill can carry the fear beyond the game and movie lol

Silent Hill always seemed more creepy than scary, but I've never played it - only watched buddies play.

Doom 3, however, can leave panty stains. F.E.A.R. was hella creepy at times, but nothing compares to one moment in Doom3. Granted I was pretty high at the time, but I haven't been that scared in well over 10 years.

I followed one corridor off the main path, which went around a bend and ended at a door. This is all during a "quiet" stretch of the level so I was in the "ok, a cyberdemon is gonna drop on my head any second here" mode. Anyways I walked up to the door, which wouldn't open. Great, I was freakin out for nothing. Tried to move but realized I was stuck to the floor. Thought the game had crashed, so I turned around.

Slowly, step by step, bloody footprints appeared on the floor walking towards me. I didn't realize it at first, so I was kinda wondering why there was all this loud whispering and stuff. There was no visible body making the footprints so I didn't see them until they were about 3 steps away from me. Looked down, saw the prints, and my heartbeat instantly doubled.

Then whatever was making the footprints 'jumped' at me. Screen went black, sounds stopped.

After half a second, the vision came back... but I hardly noticed. My mouse hand was white from squeezing the bloody thing so hard, and my WASD hand was gripping my armrest like I was holding a 400lb weight on a rope. I couldn't think. My eyes were stuck open, my heartbeat so loud it hurt my throat.

When I regained muscle control, I had to go stand in the kitchen for 10 minutes before I felt comfortable sitting back down to the game.

Silent hill all the way - That game scared me shitless. Lotta nightmares about it and those crying babies and that static noise. Another game that not so much scared me but made me jump ever 3 seconds was doom 3. The whole "OMG I CAN'T SEE WHATS MAKING NOISES" made me jump lots. And why couldn't there of been a gun with a fucking flashlight on it!!

ive just been reading up on silent hill 5, supposed to be an announcement at konami gamer day soon
nice but still not gonna be as scary as the 1st then we didnt know what to expect thats what makes it a classic they are gonna have to pull some stuff out of thier asses to scare me like SH1 did lol

Silent Hill...I was young and too chicken to beat that thing D:

The Fatal Frame series.

Doom 3 ftw, my friend and I used a cable to hook up his PC to his big screen, surround sound system and turned off all the lights.

We still wont play it after that pants crapping experience

PC doom 3 and Xbox doom 3, are completely different though, Xbox version you can see without your flashlight >.>

You're missing Alone In The Dark. Parasite Eve wasn't scary at all. Freaky with some of the cutscenes, like the rat in the begining, but not scary.

No way... You're missing an absolutely CLASSIC game: Alone in the Dark.

It's won awards in the past for being completely creepy and weird.
It had elements of Cthulu legend in it, as well as just random and bizarre shit.

The sequels were "ok" but the original was awesome.

Edit: Skaw beat me to it by 4 mins :P
