I want to know your mighty scholar ways!

I want to know your mighty scholar ways!

You know, it's funny, back when i was ingame, i lvl'd like 8 75's, sch being the only real mage heavy job i had. Blu and Brd don't really count =p

Anywho, it was definitely one of the most fun and complex jobs i've lvl'd; getting out of sticky situations with all correct spell/stratagem uses, solo'ing, and just plain out being super useful.

Sch healing for salvage was just... Unfair.

Anywho, i strongly suggest blm or rdm lovers to try this job out, the capabilities are really endless. One of my goals was to actually solo some tough stuff as sch, but i'm sure people have already beat me to that, if i ever come back anyways.

Before the sch-buff patch came out i lvl'd it to 75 in like a week and a half i was so excited with it, and after we got the buffs from the Addendums i just went off the hook and wanted to go to everything my LS did as sch. :)

Funny the way stuff is, i've always been more of a melee but sch gave me that touch of mage i always felt i needed, being different from the regular nuke and spank blm.

I'm really interested in it, doing BLM as it is so I'm thinking SCH will either be next or before SCH. I'm only scared I'll have to main heal in partying ; ;

I have been really impressed by kaeko's guide's for sch actually I use the blink macros alot for my sch but have yet to solo much..

Have almost duo'd NW appo (1/3 of the behemoths down) as SCH + BLM but connections went shitty for the partner ><

I have a question, if a SCH uses Accession + Cure 3 does it generate the emnity of only a single Cure 3 or of multiple Cure 3's? The same applies to other spells with that stratagem.

It multiplies it by however targets you have. Example stoneskin x6 = the same hate as provoke.

Ouch then SCH wouldnt be a good idea for me to lvl XD

Like anything else, it can be all about the timing. Here's a little on how hate works. First of all, no mobs = no hate. Secondly, even if the puller has hate, if no one else or even one other person (tank) touches the mob, you only take hate for them and yourself. So it's like casting Stoneskin on 3 people for hate purposes no matter how many others are there. Once they have given a reason for a mob to have hate on them is when you take hate for actions done to them.

A lot of the time I'll cast Enspellga (and now Stoneskinga since I'm 56+) as the puller comes in, or once the tank has solidified hate. Timing does comes reasonably easy for me as I've played 3 jobs heavily focused on hate (NIN, THF and RDM). With SAM hate is a little less of something I concern myself with, depending on the situation.

Anyhow, if you decide to level this job, enmity merits or no, its all about timing and taking caution in being aware of your hate. Sometimes you might have to learn the hard way.

G'luck either way!

So as long as I time say, Stoneskinga, right and it goes up while only the puller or tank have hate, I only grab hate from that one person?

Or you can do it first and then they provoke.

I don't know I've never seen this incident he mentioned occur and it was brought up in another thread that you can DS cure 4 yourself hatelessly with one person having hate. Maybe all the groups I deal with just get on the mob too quick or something.

Hmmm guess I will be taking up SCH after all =D

It's something I learned as RDM actually. You can convert and Divine Seal Cure IV yourself, so long as you're not on the hate list (ie cast something against the mob (or hit it), or buff someone who has harmed the mob, or help someone who helped someone who harmed the mob... I'm sure you get it) and suffer no hate at all. This is also why super tanking works. Because aggro doesn't count as being on the hate list, thus mages can spam cures all day long and a tank can keep the mob's attention.
