Scientific evidence sexuality is not a choice.

As a straight male, I feel like homosexuality is probably genetic because I don't wake up in the morning and choose to like women. I just...do. I like their looks, their features, their boobies (especially the boobies), and I never had to choose this path, so I'm led to believe that someone that is attracted to a member of the same sex, feels the same way.

Some guy: Why don't you just date girls?
Me: Why would I? There's no attraction.
Some guy: So it's a choice. You could physically do it.
Me: Why don't you date boys?
Some guy: Because girls are better and make me happy.
Me: So it's a choice. I mean, you could date a boy unhappily. "Better" is a superlative.
Some guy: ... a what?

I understand why a gay person would pretend to be straight, especially when things were worse, I understand the reasoning behind it. However I have trouble understanding the mindset, insofar as I'd assume to a gay guy, the thought of having sexual intercourse with a woman would be similar to that of a straight guy having intercourse with another guy. In that, they would have a strong repulsion to it, which would make the actual act - somewhat difficult. Especially considering a male needs sexual arousal to actually perform.

Perhaps the feeling that a gay male feels towards a woman is different than a straight male towards a male. It's impossible to know, under the assumption we believe to be correct, that someone's sexuallity is locked in by the age they are old enough to even have a sexual identity. Someone can be gay, straight, or something in between, but they cannot go from being straight, to being gay. Therefore they cannot compare the feelings, but I hypothesize they must be different.

I'm not sure I agree with that article on bisexuality, based on my own experiences, but I dunno I could be wrong. about myself. idk.

Their method for that study sounds... weird.

There are stories, now and then, of people turning gay because of a bad experience. Back in highschool there was a gay guy, (probably more I'm sure but this was the only one anyone seemed to know), and he said he used to be straight till he was raped by a woman. My thought is that orientation is part genetic and part experience. This whole debate is like the nature vs nurture debate, and after a couple thousand years, we came to the conclusion it was both. Odds are orientation is both. Humans are pretty complicated. Doesn't seem right painting anything black and white. Genetic predisposition with the ability to change based on living conditions seems pretty reasonable. After all, homosexuality was fairly common in feudal Japan, or at least those behaviors, amongst samurai. And in ancient Greece/Rome you weren't a gay man unless you were on the recieving end. Being the penetrator was masculine no matter where you penetrated. Man/Boy pedophilia was rampant in ancient Greece. Heck, even prison terms turn people gay in desperation. Society can have a pretty sizable effect on these things.

I wouldn't say its only genetic either. And I wouldn't say it gets locked in at a certain age, either.

I honestly have to lean on the genetics stand point here. Ever since I was really little, I have always found myself drawn towards men. Never once did I make a conscious decision about it, it was just kind of how it was.

I can't remember a time in my life when I was ever remotely attracted to a woman, or even found one attractive to begin with. Not to say that all woman are not attractive, its just they all appear neutral (I guess would be the best word to describe it) to me.
