Screwing up at work

I'm not gonna say I've never screwed up at work, but it's never been anything to write home about. I'm pretty good at picking things up, and I'm very attentive to detail.

If anything, I always end up taking too much on, getting stressed and then the "fun" begins ... NOT!!!

I've screwed up plenty, and my Non-Disclosure agreement prevents me from taking about it.

The best screw up that I've seen though wasn't mine. A fire suppression tech was working on our system(which is a gas that eliminates o2 from the air) and he tripped it. Never seen someone run so fast...=)

One night working in a Bank of america (2am ish) my ladder fell over and wacked the back of an ATM machine. It triggered a silent alarm and within minutes I had the police, sherif, and staties all surrounding the bank with there guns drawn telling me on a loud speaker to come out with my hands in plain sight. Nothing has scared me more then that. After an hour+ with the police they let me go once they verified with the bank security that I was autherized to be in there. My boss and project manager had a good laugh at me for a long long time.

And there was that time I got electrocuted in a ceilling due to an exposed AC line that hit the tile grid....

Ummmm ....

I had some not so nice, adult oriented videos on my computer at work, and my boss decided to use my computer on the day I was off. We had a nice talk the day after! :)

how can you look at porn at work. Honestly is it that hard to wait til you get home?

I fucked up on Cashier when I was working at a super market. I am terrible at math. I messed up on Bottle caps or something.... So I quit after getting pissed off at my bitch ass boss for being such an asshole.

OOOh yea "hotnailing" I knew that, the term just isnt used much around here.
So do the glued on shoes stick?

I dont think I have to explain myself, especialy to you of all people, but if someone sends you something marked as "real funny" and you download the video, and its funny, and you dont delete it... fill in all the blanks.

me of all people.

lmao

I dont even know you just making an observation.

I work at a fast food restaurant. Not sure if everyone knows, but to remove orders from the monitors after they're cooked/handed out, there's a keypad where you press buttons to remove them. Most of the time at work I'm the backbone. I have to back everyone up, and still do my job at the same time. Well, one night everyone was doing a shitty job and I messed up an order slightly. Well, I got pissed off because I was sick of all the shit and I punched the keypad hard. Next thing I know "Eric, we can't bump orders...". I go outside on my break after, and then the associate manager comes out "You broke this. You're in big trouble." She had to call the general manager, and then the owner of the store. And the owner was out at dinner with some people on business. Even though she didn't want to, she had to write me up. First and only time I've ever been written up.

Next day I find out the thing I broke would cost me $200 to replace, all from my pay. And I'd just got back from vacation, so I wasn't going to get shit for money. Turns out that it was under warranty (warranty for someone going apeshit?), and I only had to pay $25 shipping for a new one. So that was awesome.

the closest for me is when i was baby sitting. me and the kids were wrestling (fake WWE/F style, of course) and i powerbomb the kid RIGHT as his mom entered the room. yeah, lost that job REAL quick...

LMAO
"OMG what the hell are you doin to my kid!"
"Well sheeee-it lady this kid is way outta line."
"!?!?!!?!?! how could..."
"God knows you won't discipline him"
"YOU!"
"hey dont get upset at me your the bitch that raised him!"

Then you walk out the door with a Small apliance as payment and never look back.

I never mess up at work. :D I guess that my latest mistake was a processing error in an experiment we were running last week. I ended up needing to make up material off of one sample since one of the two iterations that shared the same properties was way to small to get all the samples we needed. I ended up reading the documentation wrong and didn't get enough samples for us to get any "FDA approved" results. By the time I noticed the mistake the chemistry had expired.

That ended up costing the company ~10k once you figure in man hours, material costs, etc. Luckily for me that is an unoticable drop in the bucket for this company. I was kind of nervous but nobody even batted an eye when I told them. We are still able to get some results off of what I gathered but there aren't enough sample points to show an established repeatability.

omg what kind of research do you do?

I have done stupid stuff at work...

As a waitress: I put in an order for too much food for a family (but they left me a 20$ tip ^^)

As a fuel desk clerk: I lost the receipts for about 2000$ in diesel fuel. Glad they found them on the next shift...

In my research, the biggest screw up happened by me not making sure the girl I worked with knew what she was doing the third time we ran the experiment together. -.- She removed our samples from a magnetic seperation rack which released them back into solution and when she went to decant the liquid all of our sample went down the drain with it... 28 Sites and 8 standards.....
