SE turns a possible win into massive fail.

way to flaunt your JP skills D:

What's wrong with it?

(If only if it were in Spanish...)

Yeah when I first heard about this a while back I'm like wtf..

As for Khidir, it's the fact that it's an FFIV sequel and it's for cellphones... which we'll never see release overseas..
And the game looks pretty badass too ><

This is rather old.
Regardless, shitsux.
Although the character art's pretty neat. Yang looks mighty wise now.

Still, what the hell was SE thinking taking some of their more popular games and throwing them into cellphone? It's like if they decided to actually pick Chrono Break back up and decided the best path would be to toss that on cellphone too. What's next, Seiken Densetsu 5? =/

There was a 4?

Also; yeah, it sucks, but unfortunately for us cell phone games are actually very popular over in Japan, from what I've heard.

Yeah but I wouldn't give two shits if they released a new Seiken Densetsu on cellphones because Dawn of Mana(SD4) and Heroes of Mana were both incredible stinking turds I'd rather they let the series die. Now say if they decided to do a port of Secret of Mana or Seiken Densetsu 3 to cellphones I'd be ticked.

But yeah, cellphone games, popular in Japan, but nowhere else, but guess with the episodic content they plan on doing for this it works and sells relatively well in Japan.

Although I'd kill for the full game being on DS or something >> And a Parasite Eve 3 on 360 or PS3 would kick ass, but alas, it is not meant to be.

oh, Dawn of Mana was actually SD4? Bew.

SD3 is still one of my favorite games ever.

I think I'm gonna cry :(

There was no win in this to begin with.

FF4 world and you play as the children of Cecil and Rosa. Sorry, but I don't give a crap about their descendants. Original characters or gtfo.

This game can stay on cell phones.

Eh, SD5 may have been a bad example. All the same, seems moderately stupid for them to be putting some of their more successful franchise games on something that they'd make minimal profit on.

Also, Tyrath, I'd reply, but it appears you're now a Tarutaru. Please wait for the grownups to finish having their chat time before speaking, k. D:

In case you hadn't noticed by now, SE tends to consider overseas markets only as an afterthought. First they make something for Japanese release on whatever platform they feel like, and only then do they consider whether the game, as it stands, would be viable to translate and release overseas.

Really, the fact that cellphone games have almost no American market does not factor in to whether they'll make a cellphone game to release in Japan. It just means they won't bother sending it to America or Europe. The notion of making a game with the intention of releasing in multiple places, and then picking a suitable platform for *that*, just isn't how they do things. Largely because it would make good business sense.

We should make cellphone emulators then. That'd be fun.

Not really considering the fact of if they'd ever release it across seas or not. In terms of their potential profit, it seems like they could make much, much more money be releasing said games for a more popular console than they would releasing it for the DoCoMo cellphone. It's already been long since proven that people will be willing to buy a game even if the graphics aren't spectacular for their system and such or even lengthy for that matter (a wide margin of PS2 games didn't break 10h in play time, for example)...

I'm fairly sure that they could've made much more profit if they'd just slapped a ~7900-yen tag on it and put it on PS2, but maybe it's (cellphone games) become more of a popularity than I thought and it'd actually be a better profit by going down that road. I still feel a bit doubtful, though.

Yes and I like to bite mithra tails. Watch out.

Seriously everyone gives SE shit for sequels of FF games, yet when they don't release them here they get angry. Whats up with that? We're better off without this game that won't even be a shadow of what FF4 was.

Even if it's just a shadow people will still buy it. Just look at Chrono Cross (kidding, somewhat...).

Maybe not, but have you even read about this? Yes you play as Cecil and Rosa's son, but the FFIV cast is there, and some even join you as playable characters. The game still retains the 2D feel of the original FFIV as well, have you seen screens of it? We're pissed because the game looks to be worthy of being called a sequel to FFIV, although maybe not to you, and there's no chance in hell it makes it over here.

I'd kill if this was packaged in with the NA release of FFIV DS(if they ever bring it over here), but that is not going to happen.

Its not Chrono Cross' fault that it was the sequel to one of the greatest games ever made.

The game was good in its own right, but its hard to compare to Trigger.

SE's sequels were ok but they were not as good as the original, like

FFX-2.. the characters became retarded, 99% of the game were retarded side quests, the music was bad. But it did have really fun gameplay and the core story wasn't bad.

Dirge of Cerberus... characters were fine, story wasn't too bad, but the gameplay had issues when they changed a few things up for the US release and even the JP version. Basically it wasn't bad, but the gameplay had issues that annoyed people.

and that's really all of the sequels I can think of that I know people had problems with XD not sure if anyone has problems with Revenant Wings, lol. FFVII CC isn't out in the states yet but people are saying great things for those who have imported the JP one. Chrono Cross was fine imo but had that "couldn't live up to the original" aspect. Just as Deus Ex: Invisible War couldn't really live up to Deus Ex (and I have a feeling Deus Ex 3 might have the same problem).
