I think you may have missed the point of my post. Lucki's comment merely reminded me of the similarity between Morwen's post and many, many others that appear on these boards. I used that as an opportunity to poke fun at you about your campaign not that long ago to get her banned/suspended.

i'd never flame the guy for having narcolepsy, that's a very unfortunate condition for him to have, but in the same context i would not be playing ffxi if i had such a thing to begin with. you have to take into consideration the kind of time you have to devote to this game, and having something like that will get you nothing but bad experiences, and threads like these.

Why not play the game just because you have narcolepsy? That suddenly means you shouldn't do things you enjoy? I'm sure most of us play FFXI because we enjoy it. To relax and have fun. So he suddenly shouldn't play it just because he have a certain condition that he can't help?

It's the same thing here to a less life-threatening degree. If you know that it's possible to pass out on a party and have no control over it, you shouldn't play late at night. You also should warn people if they don't know you. It's called "being responsible for your actions". If you just do whatever you want and don't sweat the consequences, even if they are out of your control, then you're just being greedy and deserve the flames coming your way.

I said he should let people know of his condition. I never argued that. I just said that saying he shouldn't be playing at all is unfair.

Hell, in most cases it lasts a few seconds up to a few minutes. And you often know when its about to come, since it comes while feeling tired. It can also be prevented, although not completely, by taking naps during the day.

No, I don't think Sheladris handles it the right way, but its unfair to say he shouldn't be playing at all. As long as he handles it correctly by, say, letting people know of his condition, I don't see why not.

I mean, in most cases when you DO fall asleep, its only a few seconds to a few minutes. Should smokers let their party know that they're smokers and might need to go smoke in the middle of the party or an event? I never see smokers giving that warning before a party starts, but I often see them go "I need to go smoke, afk 5 min". Hell, tey shouldn't be playing at all, because they might need to go smoke. People with a bladder infection shouldn't play at all either, because they might need to go pee every 20 min.

You don't actually walk down the sleep and suddenly fall asleep without warning. It only happens when you're feeling tired. That's when your brain don't know whether to be asleep or be awake. As in, if you're tired, you know you might fall asleep. That's why the best way to prevent it is to take a nap throughout the day, to prevent yourself from falling asleep when you might need to be awake. Like, say, during an in-game event.
