What the fuck happened to silk threads!?!? I log on and overnight theyve fucking jumped to 20K a stack!! That is unbe-fucking-lievable. And why have they done so? Because some jerk-off decides to buy out every last stack for an obscene amount of money, and then continues to pay that fucking ridiculous amount of money!!! However, these arent going to make silk cloths, so there are no godamn cloths on the AH either. So not only has he sent silk to shit... but he is keeping me from continuing to level clothcraft.

Right now I am at 51.something and before I left to come back to college I farmed and quested my ass off to save up some money. Here at my small college they do this cute little thing called bandwidth shaping, where they take the bandwidth for things like AIM, file sharing and gaming... and send it to fucking hell. So unfortunately I can't party, solo, quest, do BCNM or anything like that... hell I have a hard time fucking camping the guild. Thats why I decided that crafting would be a nice alternative... cotinue to lvl a craft up so that when I go back to playing over breaks I can get good gear and spells and whatnot.

However, thanks to the asshat who is fucking the 50's clothcrafting scene... I cannot do the one thing left for me to do in FFXI. I don't have enough money to pay that much... when silk cloths havent gone up at all. So I will remain at 51(maybe 52 If Insect Fletchings don't take forever) until silk goes back to "normal".

It's shit like this that pisses me off, so to the dumbfuck who is ruining my crafting experience at the moment: t(>.<t) /sigh I'm just really frustrated at coing back to this lag and not being able to really play FFXI anymore... and the 20k a stack shit didnt improve my mood any... I wont mention names in case I am being out of line due to my mood... but I wish I knew what the fuck happened in one night...

Let me know... am I just overreacting or what.... :?

He wont be 50 forever, just give it time and it'll return to normal.

Holy shit? 2OK? Time to start farming crawlers again, with my trusty headphones and Rotting Christ CD's. RAWR

ALL YOUR SILKS ARE BELONG TO KRONO.

then u gotta wait for the faggot ass senior gm, yo the bitch will introduce himself as "Senior GM [GM]Cocksucker" then he'll talk to u, i watched tv on the pip and shouted alot while i waited, they tend to get annoyed when u repeatedly shout for the gms to come while in gm jail, my gm told me he'd be with me shortly, then came back 3 hours later, and dont call for another gm if u get sick of waiting, that just resets ur call number which makes u wait longer

heh, right after teh update prices jumped up to like 17k a stack, and now they are fluctuating between 13-20k, which to me, isn't a bad thing. I feel bad for the crafters though, this is an absurd price to pay compared to what it used to be, and there really is no explanation as to why the price has risen so. All i know is, it means more money for me, I farm crawlers all the time >.>

I'm ok with that price.
;)

I never jack the prices up. I undercut actually, so don't blame me for liking the income it's providing.

20K is a ridiculous amount to pay for a stack of Silk Thread that was just a steady 10k a couple months ago. I don't quite understand the pay hike. It's not like they have become harder to obtain. Is it the new tax? No way, it's just plain greed. Paying a little extra to post the stack in the AH doesn't explain a 10k hike. It's shameless how some prices of materials skyrockets for no odd reason. While I farm for feathers and cotton I always get at least half a stack if not more of silk. I currently have 6 stacks in my Mog House and am very tempted to sell but since I'll be reaching the "silk road" in Clothcraft soon I'd better hold onto them.

I'm sorry to hear that this has messed up your current FFXI experience. Hope it gets better soon.

its simple supply and demand '-' less people are farming them on a regular basis so the prices go up. You also have to take into account inflation, and the fact that clothcraft became an insanely popular craft recently. it is a shame that it is hurting some of you so badly, but price increases in a market are normal ^^; i am sure it will go back down eventually.

Oh god no. Stacks of silk are 20k. I'm gonna buy Crawler Cocoons at 300-400gil each and by spending roughly 7200 on 24 coccoons, I make a 12.8k profit. Oh god no the pain. ¬_¬

I'm kind of wondering if anyone read my post >.> <.<

It's not a case of supply and demand... from what I can see, it's one person(again not mentioning the name) who is buying out the AH, and continuing to pay 20K a stack. He is pretty much the only one still buying them... and since no one is willing to pay that ridiculous amount of money, no silk cloths are being made. You can actually buy threads from the guild and make a profit... which is insane. So, if this fucktard would stop paying 20k... the prices would settle back down to 15k or at least go down bit by bit... because I have a feeling that no one else has warmed up to paying so much.

Did read the post, but I had nothing to really say that already hasn't...
If a price goes up, it leaves the people who need it upset and the people who don't need it happy...can't really do anything to stop it unless the guy runs out of money, which, he'd hopefully be doing soon. Best thing I could say is just sell out threads now and start buying/using them once the price is back to a decent level.

I have noticed this quick increase in the price of silk thread as well. And since many different cloth recipes require silk in one form or another it pisses me off to see that people are running up the price so quickly. I have noticed a LOT of people are leveling cloth while I'm at the various auction houses so that in turn equals a high demand for one of the most used clothcraft items, silk thread. It probably is just a passing phase and hopefully we'll see the price go back down to something reasonable like 12k or so. I'm just glad it wasn't this bad when I was on the wonderful "silk road" of clothcraft. Threads were only 8~9k a stack back then.

You also have a lot of the higher level clothcrafters making their own silk cloth due to the high price that it is going for in most places. That is where a lot of the silk is disappearing to. I'm usually going to make my own unless I can find a stack that is reasonably prices, but we all know that isn't going to happen. :?

I'm at 51 too, sano. So for now I just camp the clothcraft guild and make tons and tons of money through my own thread. Cotton also jumped lately (7k/stack of thread, 13k/stack of cloth, it used to be consistently 6k and 8k).

It'll come down, the giant mass of people leveling clothcraft is going away, if for no other reason the lack of desire to pay 20K/stack.

You will also see a lot of them quit leveling it when they realize how much it costs at higher levels to keep going. I had to take over a month off of leveling mine in order to raise enough funds to keep going. And of course rising prices on everything isn't going to help that out any.

50-70 is where most people quit because of the costs of silks and the amount you have to use. It was a pain, now on to rainbow cloths

Oh and btw Duncarun is a bitch....that's the culprit.
