Since Jamal can't read and I can't hit the right button....

Am I the onlpy one here who finds this strangely ironic?

No. Its not a racial slur, it was carefully chosen, and also the first time I had used the phrase on the boards.

Go ahead, do a search for it on my posts.

I was more or less making light of the fact that you... of all people, said "get over it." In relation to the mods around here, you should really take your own advice.

The same could be applied towards nigga since I have seen people of all colors use that to acknowledge a friend with that term and it's not always racial as well.

Jamal must have hated the Chappelle Show. If only just to make his arguement valid.

I have. I'm light-hearted in all of this. Ask sabs, she sent me a PM...and I agreed with what she had to say.

If you're searching for irony you can find it anywhere Excim...I could call irony on you for attacking my posting style using the exact same posting style...but it accomplishes nothing to do so.

So yes, get over it.

words and phrases change over time yes, but generally the majority goes along with the most commonly meant/implied meaning, so at this time frame it can mean an ignorant person who's black, but in 20 years mean a greeting expression to anyone.

The word has had many different meanings since the most infamous times in society and has changed yes; but that does not mean so many years later it is something completely different. It has modified according to the way people by majority use it, but it still is not a term that's neccesarily compliment all the way, it's still a derogatory term. Some people may associate themselves with it to label themselves as part of a subculture or call someone with African descent an offensive name.

Just like the word gay and it's double definition; it used to mean happy years ago but it is now more known to identify a sexuality. It changed with the majority use by society.

Some people call themselves 'black' when they are not of African descent or call a person of non-African descent 'black' because of the way they appear, talk, etc.

In short words always change meaning, I'll give you that, but leniency is given over time and not just immediately(referring to the dual nature of the word in this time frame).

So yes and no basically.

Well then, right on. Does this mean we won't be seeing as many wars waged against the mods in every FB thread like the one earlier? Because that would be stellar.

oh and...

I can take jokes, hence I love TheBoondocks and DaveChappelle...since it's not intended in a demeaning manner or of poor taste.

Not pretending I myself, always remember to watch what comes out of my mouth=X

You can ask the mods about that. If they'll stop examining me every post of mine with a microscope and handing out the slaps on the wrist, yes I will.

Each new action they take against me is another thing to get over. This isn't anything from past events, they're just proving my previous arguments correct by perpetuating things.

I sent a PM to Miros a week ago regarding the infraction, and received no feedback back from it until today. So, I reverted to previous form. If they're gonna give me a warning, I may as well make it worth it.

I have had a good amount of black friends while growing up and recently I asked a good friend of mine if the word "nigga" offended him. He said that the word is common in everyday language for him and that the offensive history of it has been diminished. Another great point is that it all depends on the context in which it is used, if someone uses the full and correct term "******" in an aggressive fashion then yes it offensive, but if used in a common usage among friends then it has no offensive value. It's apples and oranges really.

You're not my friend, 90% of this site isn't your friend. You can't justify the 'common usage among friends' defense on a public forum. This is a multi-cultural forum, and using that term even in its loosest form is wrong.

You'd also have to consider who you're talking to as well, if a friend said it to me I'd just ignore them and turn the other cheek and he or she would get the point, if a stranger I'd be pissed off. There really isn't much racism in my generation so it's not really thought of much.

This wouldn't be the same case for saying it to an older person of African descent, not that I need explain why lol. But your post has some of the points I was saying though.

edit:

it doesn't really matter what form you use it in, you imply the same word structure and the history behind in in another form and change the meaning really.

So stuff like nukka, nigga, etc. is said but the audience isn't really clueless about what the original word is, 'softer' terms should be used in small doses if applicable, though in the word in particular I'm not sure why there'd be a need...

Man, I love The Boondocks. Even though it's a cartoon (along the lines of south park), it does present certain values, morals, and philosophy.

Gin Rummy said:
And you don't start trippin' and shit, call me a racist. 'Cause I don't mean Nigga in a disrespectful way, I mean it as a general term for an ignorant motherfucker. Anybody of any race can be an ignorant motherfucker.

It's the context Jamal, and I only related the discussion with my friend solely from my experience. I wasn't implying that we are friends or that it is common usage between us or all board users in general since yes I am in fact not friends with 90% of this board. Although at the same time your opinion over this issue isn't going to overshadow everyone else's opinion on this matter.

Here's some real fuel for this flame.
Jamal, what the hell're you doing with a Barone Corazza?!

Reminds me of the time Jamal was mainhanding his Joyeuse and offhanding Ridill....

He was spamming flat blade...

FLAT BLADE!

Serious answer: He uses the Corazza while duoing with my Rdm.

All of you fail since you failed to call out Jamal on the one thing you could legitimately call him out on regarding Warrior which he posts so much about.

Serious Question: Harby+1 on Pld {Where?}

(misspelling intentional)
