My parrying is at 258 on ninja 268 on samurai, but I just can't seem to get it up higher. It stuck at that level for months now. Alakazam forum only show up till lvl 230 and they don't know how to get it higher after that lol.

Based on the forum, +AGI - evasion help speed it up but at my level, that don't seem to help much anymore. I also realized that Samurai parrying alot more than Ninja but I never get any skill up. Ninja don't parrying alot but if they do like 2-3 in a row, I will get like .2 or .3 up.

Anyone got advices or know where I should go to cap it? such as type of mobs and weapons I should use. Any advices is acceptable.

I believe Brianfist leveled his parrying skill on EM-T Mandies in Den of Rancor. Try that out.

Treat the parrying just like the shield skill from PLD, namely they're both A-/+ skills. I would think your best chance would be to take out your NIN and solo EM / T mobs and just hope, of course the other option is just to go and xp.

Did he mentioned what weapons and at what level he tried those? I did tried those for few days, nothing happened. Too high or too low it won't go up.

I'd probably recommend doing it on your sam rather than nin, due to the lower eva skill on sam. You'll need support but if you stack on the vit and tank pld-style, you should be able to duo with a whm or rdm.

Have you tried the Mouriouches at the top of Boyahda? Use a 2h weapon - many people, myself included, believe they have a higher chance to proc parry.

You could also try the Bugbears in Newton Movalpolos. They hit a lot harder than the mandy mobs but they are also VT to 75s so you should have an easier time skilling up from them.

I believe the mobs will have to be even match to a level 75 for you to reach the A/A+ cap for any skill, so you need to find something that's EM or higher and tank it.

Shield caped alot faster than parrying. On my PLD when I caped shield skill at 276, parrying was 220. This is harder to skill up or cap than fishing or level crafting lol. But yeah exp party seem to be good idea, more merits always nice.

Also anyone know how well it will active when you cap it? Is it gonna be like paladin shield skill, you block 6-7/10 hits.

It will proc less than shield would on a pld or /pld. Shield Mastery exists whereas Parrying Mastery does not.

my parrying is 166 from me taking NIN to 75. guess that goes to show that i a) got great xp per fight and b) evasion merits really screwed me on parry skill D:

haha

Or TP burned and never had to tank past Jin lv :P

The only way to get skill ups is to actually parry which means you need to be tanking or taking hits. From my understanding and I don't believe anyone mentioned this is parrying occurs more often with two handed weapons so of course the SAM would be the best job to get skill ups since it will parry more often. However, due to the low evasion of the job and lack of defense/curing potential, there is a lot of downtime if you solo or if you party, most would frown on a SAM keeping hate. With that in mind, NIN might be preferred mainly because in a party you are expected to tank or if you solo, you will survive much better and fight longer without rest. If you do go NIN, I'd suggest loading up on AGI equipment to increase the potential for parrying, -evasion (evasion will proc over parry), and +parry skill. There are several items with +parry skill such as the Parry Knife, earring and torque so if you can afford it, buy those and use them. Much like any skill up, I noticed I gained more skill ups when the mob was closer to my skill level although I think you are very close to being capped (~40 or so) so it won't matter as much.

Back to your cave, she-man!

An easy trick ive heard about but not done yet for THF is to go to a yagudo mnk or similar monster that attacks fast and let yourself get pummeled before using {HIDE}. Rest up. Rinse and repeat ect ect.

Phht, no one reads your junk. It's mostly just sex related gibberish. >.>

Or you could just kill the Yag. lol

Those are going to be too weak and not skill him high enough.

"Similar monsters", like MNKs will be good...Or as good as it'll ever seem to be.

There are problems with that though. THF having the highest evasion will reduce chances of parry. From my understanding, evasion will proc first and THF would be worst job to skill up or at least the slowest. It works like this. Either a mob hits or misses you, but if it hits, there is a chance it will then be parried or you take damage. So the higher the chance the mob hits you, the more often a hit can be parried and evasion would then be counter-productive because evading does not allow for parrying. That's another reason why SAM is better to skill up (not just because of the 2-handed weapon), but again SAM doesn't tank and solo as well as the other two jobs. If you don't mind taking awhile, then THF would be a good choice because you can experience, farm and skill up all in one.

Could also try fighting mobs with physical AoE attacks, you can get guard skillups on those, so I'd imagine parrying would go up as well.

I agree with all of that. The bolded is good too, but as THF, don't go out trying to get parrying with no other goal in mind very often. It will just piss you off. XP + farming will save your wrists if you actually choose that route.
