Skill up rant...

I'll make it pretty short. I was in a badass party yesterday. The set up was weird(Drk, Sam, Thf, Bst/war, Nin, Smn) but we got chain 5s consistently.

Anyways, I finally get lvl 66. Put on my mythril heart and get ready for Spinning Slash...I'm now 8k into the goddamn level and still .3 away from Spinning Slash. :evil: It was the slowest frikking skill ups ever!!! And my parents started bitching so I had to go with only .3 left

I swear mobs have a WS detector and give less skill ups when your gonna get a ws >.> I wouldnt be surprised if it takes me a few hours to get the .3 today...GAH!

I feel the EXACT same way about exp, as i'm sure all of us do sometimes. I was only 200 tnl from 39 yesterday, so, 2 fights at the MAX and my mom goes "that's enough justin" and i'm thinkin "wtf? i wanna play damnit!" but i had to log with that 200 tnl otherwise i'd b more grounded than i already am. /sigh now i have to wait another WEEK before i can get 39 (damn skool!)

And to top it all off, yesterday I couldnt get skill ups for shit. Today first hit I get the skill up I needed. First fight I get .8 total -.-

But now Im just happy that I have it. Spinning Slash rocks! ^^

I dumped my treat staff a long time ago unfortunately, so I just picked up a treat staff. You dont have a Blm available to sub?

Even with the weakest staff possible I hit for more than 0, so it wouldn't help much anyways. (that and skillup solo reminds of that Animaniacs short =P "It's time for another Good Idea/Bad Idea...")

Damn, my bad, I missed a key point. Skill up on Crabs. With their physical defence I NEVER hit for more than 0, even on a crit. Sorry for leaving that out.

You are right though, skillups suck.

I have a question/observation for the people in the know out there. A couple of weeks ago, I took my Blm out to level my scythe skill so that I could use my Greatsword in xp parties on Drk for awhile (before I get bashed, I just want to point out that my GS was at 139 while my Scythe was capped at 141ish so I would be just KEEPING GS leveled and not really skillin up in an xp party).

Anyway, I whacked away for at least 90 minutes and only went from 141-142.3 scythe. In 10 minutes, on the same mobs, I went from 162-164 staff. I was using a life belt and snipers, so hitting was not an issue. I just wonder if skill-rating (i.e. Blm has an E in scythe) affects the rate off skill-ups too.

I've been told that you can skill on anything that doesn't con Low def (and that stuff conning high def give more), but that doesn't seem to work too well.....I get maybe .1-.5 per Robber Crab (DC, not high def @207 club) with Club but I get piddle with staff, maybe 1.-.3 every 5 fights (DC, high eva/def @173 staff)

You are at 173 staff eh? Im currently at 169 and actually like skillin up. I tell you what, find yourself a signet staff and you and I can party up sometime and hit some steelshells in the tree. I'll even supply the sleep. :wink:

Currently my scythe is capped at 153 and GS is laggin behind at 144. Im waiting for the time when I can bring my Dark on coffer hunts where my Blm wont be needed.

Mish, look me up in-game sometime. Ive been crafting ALOT lately but have hit some ruts where I need stuff to clear on the AH. The steelshells are DC to me and I was *told* they are good to switch to at 170 skill. We'll see. Worse comes to worse, we go back to robber crabs and maybe catch us an aquarious. :wink:
