XD i wasnt trying to sell you to RMT's i was simply trying to give the RMT something worth a set of panties.
Did the credits roll up your screen when you obtained them?
So you get the panties, I get Kero? :nyam:
As they should be now(I'm only posting this now because I didn't see the thread earlier), he got the item, but he used immoral means to do it. Just because it's RMT everyone's treating him like a hero, when in reality he's a thief; no one cares because he stole from a wildly unpopular group. I don't like RMT either, but I don't think bragging about how he stole from them is in any way praiseworthy. If nothing else, he's shown he's just as low as they are by using their tactics, namely stealing when possible. He got something he didn't deserve by stealing, who he stole from should be irrelevant.Grats, I remember my LS chatting about this the night you were planning to go through with it =P
This thread is interesting though. I remember a similar thing happening with a Amity Cape and people were slinging stones...

Oh god, this again?
I stand by what I've said in the past, the item is deserved by someone who can do this, if nothing more than as a reward for pissing in RMT's cheerios. They aren't "a wildly unpopular group", they are wholly illegitimate players, deserving of no more respect than an enemy NPC. They deserve to be killed, they deserve to be stolen from, and if you get something out of it, all the better. You've earned it.
Don't listen to people who say things like this. You deserve those pants on the grounds that you put a dent in RMT's plans, if nothing more. Good job.

So stealing is ok, as long as you steal from a group people outright hate. They're not much more illegitimate than OH was back in it's hack-a-thon days(or any other LS that employs bots regularly), so if anyone stole from that group, they should be cheered as heroes and not treated as theives?Oh god, this again?

Stealing is okay, as long as you steal from a group that are not even players. RMT are a lot less legitimate than OH was, and this is from someone who despises almost every single person to set foot in that shell. OH members at least met the requirement of people playing the game for the game, something RMT can't claim. So stealing is ok, as long as you steal from a group people outright hate. It'd be one thing if you caused them to lose the haidate, it's another entirely to keep it for yourself. He didn't try to "stick it to the RMT," he just stole the item. If you want to hurt the RMT and not benefit through outright theft, toss the pants; otherwise you're really no better than they are.
The whole idea of "two wrongs don't make a right," is what's going on here. Apparently some people disagree as long as you wrong the correct group.
It hurts them in the same way that keeping them hurts RMT; RMT don't get to wear it and can't sell it, keeping it does nothing more than that. If he just wanted to hurt RMT, that's all he'd have to do; keeping it just makes him a thief.Stealing is okay, as long as you steal from a group that are not even players. That being said, dropping the haidate right this second hurts the RMT how?
That's right, it doesn't. What hurts the RMT is that they lost an opportunity, wasted time, seals, and a lost drop they can't sell to some other sucker who doesn't know/care any better.
Sure, some people manage to stab RMT in the back whenever possible for no reward, but damn. If you can cause RMT to lose some byakko seals, you deserve the pants. It may not be much, but it's a pleasant thing for many people and a kick in the ass for RMT. It's earned, it's deserved, and it's no more wrong than stealing from a mob or non-player character. They aren't players. They never were, they never will be. They exist solely to perform actions outside of FFXI that are against the terms of service.
So you'd better drop your Ducal Guard's Ring if you have it, because it was stolen from a source that is just as much a player as they are.
Actually, I'd hate them even if they didn't, especially when they get their numbers into anything involving competition. Every claim they make is another one a legitimate player didn't get.It hurts them in the same way that keeping them hurts RMT; RMT don't get to wear it and can't sell it, keeping it does nothing more than that. If the RMT didn't bot/hack, no one would give a shit what they did, so it's the fact that they hack that makes them hated. Therefore, any other hacking linkshell is "just as bad" as the RMT.
And you're proving my point, people hate the gilfarmers because they hack and remove any fair competition from anything they go after. If they didn't hack and camped/killed just like a normal LS, no one would even care about them because they would be just like everyone else. You don't care what legit LS X, Y, or Z does with their drops and if the RMT didn't bot, they'd be the same.Actually, I'd hate them even if they didn't, especially when they get their numbers into anything involving competition. Sure, keeping them makes him a thief. A thief is one who steals something.
Do we criticize a player who steals from an enemy monster?
No. Why? Because it's not a player being stolen from.
Do we criticize a player who, as I said above, steals the ducal guard's ring from [spoilers]?
No. Why? Because it's not a player being stolen from.
Should we care when a player steals an item from RMT, even if they keep it?
No.
Why?
Because it's not a player being stolen from.
RMT members are not players at all.
I like Kant though.Kantian deontology is so late 18th century.
So you get the panties, I get Kero? :nyam:
So long as I get you both.
