/slap is like /poke

i just tab through my screen and /slap

i slap anyone, friends, leader, associates, NM, NPCs, GMs

i dont /slap
/wait 1
/t <t> f*** you biscuit face

just /slap and people get so bent up and out of shape... their reactions not even funny.
just kind of sad.... the biggest response is i get, is that i'm a immature 10 yrs old looking for attention...

once again /slap is just a emote...

i guess the only way someone could be pissed is if i followed them around and stalked them and every time i saw them i /slap.

one girl told me not to slap her cause she had been beaten up and real life and doesnt like that emote...

I WISH SQE would make a motion for /slap :|

Um.......ok

;p

/slap Why you do Flip out when i do so?

i just want a explanation

this is how a slap should go....

Ah ok you're slapping at /random. :? There's plenty of people that get offended at the tiniest little things on this game, so you'd probably want to turn on every single chat filter the game offers when doing /random slaps. Personally, I'd just slap people that really deserve it. i.e. Batcheporu (who I still need to hunt down and sit on with my Galka mule  )

Devi slaps me all the time ........ I LIKE IT!!

personally, I just /slap friends. Not random people. But I realyl wouldn't get offended unless, like you said, someone ran around /slaping me.

I consider /slap to be kind of like /poke, or even /wave. It's another way of saying "Hi!"

Hello!
Hi!
Hiya ^^
hey!

there's many ways to say hi. I always say hi to friends by slapping them in-game, and they do the same to me :P

Seriously, if someone takes offence to a random /slap, they must have a bad selfesteem =/

/poke is a rather neutral emote and not a good comparison. That's like aking why people don't get upset when you /dance with them, but do get upset when you /slap them.
Mainly, slapping someone in RL is a sign of disrespect. This is where you may start to think "OMG, give it up, it's just a game!" But it's no different than cussing at someone or insulting them in game. It upsets people IRL and in the game as well.
If you know someone, it's a different story. I dog my friends all the time, and vice versa. But if I don't know you, you're just some random ass doing it in game because you don't have the rocks to do it IRL, imo.
Nowdays, my policy is to just ignore random /slaps. I took issue with it once in my early FF days. I sent the offender a /tell, and it turned out to be a big waste of time and effort on my part with the biggest waste of digital space in the game. For those of you who have been around long enough to understand this, the guy was Kert when he was a level 7 WAR with no sub, lol. Needless to say, I have a pretty low opinion of random /slap 'ers ever since.

i slap people all the time, its pretty much like poking them, but i dont really slap people i dont know ;p im not as brave as you master stig

Personally its a little annoying but I think some people take it a little too far. And from what I have seen so far stiggy, you just seem to want to egg people on anyways so I don't know why you are surprised.

wow, thats not me. i'm miss understood. text is .. umm not very... idk. but it doesnt convey who i am?

gotta get voice to see how i am.

i just do dont stuff normal people do for that reason?

if egg on = shock then yes, but i dont try to offend :|

Uhh /slap in game has the same context as if you slaped someone in real life... The meaning of the word is conveyed as an insult. Granted with my friends I slap them when joking around but that is similar to rough housing IMO.

i like /poke

when you poke someone they dont feel the need to talk to you :|

when you slap NOW you got their attention, its a great conversation starter :|

and yes slap = poke in the sense i'm just playing... not that i actually want to deal dmg or harm to your family.

Just to sortof put this in context (is that the right word? ;-; ) -
Slap annoys people the same way /check annoys people, just....probably to a wider extent, and effecting a different crowd. Though applying this to real life may be a bit overblown, since you could probably get arrested for assault if you randomly slapped people.. =P

Paupauchi[GM]: Greetings. You have been jailed for 72 hours for slapping a Tarutaru.

Rarr!
Really though, I think poking works all the same. Though I've seen people flip over that too.....

I too agree with Stig that typing and text sarcam can be miscontrude...Text sarcasm is not easily read and if someone takes it the wrong way it can be the start of a bad situation...I am extrememly sarcastic IRL and anyone who knows me knows that...but people in the game can't hear the sarcasm...so its a grey area that I have had the pleasure of running into many times.

Stig and I have run into that before where he was being sarcastic and because I don't know him personally I was offended but for a lack of a better word I guess you could say I was shocked...

Although...I don't like to be /slapped either...it pisses me off, for the same reasons it has pissed off other woman who you have done it too.../poke me, /spank me, /lick me, whatever...please don't slap me.

and yes slap = poke in the sense i'm just playing... not that i actually want to deal dmg or harm to your family.

I can definitely believe this statement. However, you have to remember that all communication is based upon using defined and standardized words, symbols, actions, etc. to convey a message. If you stray from that norm and people don't understand, it's your fault/problem.

If I ask for a ham sandwich in a cafe when I want a steak, I'm to blame for the miscommunication. If you want to say "Hi" and you slap someone, then if they get upset you are the one behaving inappropriately and not them.

I'm going to make it a policy to /slap you when I see you :)

Like you said, I don't slap people out of remorse.

Tymon slaps Ardin.
Ardin slaps Tymon.
Tymon slaps Ardin.
Ardin slaps Tymon.

Ardin: lol
