Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you Cubs, MPK I usually agree to be wrong. However, even if it is 'only roleplay' it was still quite the heartfelt occasion, as many of these people we consider to be family. I'm sure all of you would have become rather close to your LS members, the same that we have. I've known these people for well over a year, and seeing such an occasion crashed by some disrespectful pissants has more then pissed me off.
I understand it 'pissed you off,' but there are obviously better ways to handle the situation.
You bet your ass if there was PVP I wouldn't have bothered to call a GM, I would have merely jumped on them, killed them in one shot, and moved on. However, SE didn't have the foresight to see that sometimes PVP is a necessary part of a game, so we're forced into the crappy ass ballista or MPKing (which is against the rules).
PvP is NOT and never WAS a necessary part of MMORPGs. I've never been a part of a PvP MMO that has ever, ever had good come of it.
Justification is what is about here, MPKing over an HNM is completely different than MPKing over a wedding, a sacred occasion whether it was in game or not. I feel MPK is perfectly justified, as it is the only means of bringing justice to such a thing. Again, PVP would have been preferable, but we don't have that option now do we?
No, we don't. But anyone choosing to be a vigilante and take justice into their own hands You're basically saying that if someone is a dick to you in-game, you have the right to MPK them to make it 'even.' I call bullshit. In any MPK case, the ends do NOT justify the means.
and how many times have peopel called GM's to have them either not
show up or to 'thank us for our time' and apologize for not being able to do diddly squat. The GM's are useless, you know that, I know that, everyone here knows that.
And in this case, the offending parties did NOTHING TO VIOLATE THE ToS. In a GM's eyes, they had the same right to be standing in that spot as you did. Hell, they could have brought each and every mob they fought right smack dab in the middle of your wedding party and you would have no in-game repercussions, because, once again, they did nothing wrong aside from making your wedding party upset. Let their bad name be their punishment instead of adding a ToS violation into the mix.
I know damn sure that if I were one of those 2 people (not that I ever would, of course) I'd have GM called whoever MPK'd me in a heartbeat, and should they go to Gaol for it I'd be thrilled.
Simple asking the fucktards to leave also was not an option, as we did so REPEATEDLY to no avail. Had they left after we told them we were having a wedding and to please leave, there wouldn't even be an issue here.
What you're forgetting, once again, is that they NEVER HAD TO LEAVE. They could have plopped their asses down right in the middle of your wedding and there wouldn't be a damn thing you could do about it. This is the risk, again, of holding events in areas where others can wander by and be dicks. You took the risk and someone wasted a few minutes of your time.
In response, they got MPK'd. Seems real fair.
And another thing, why was the HNM BS even brought up? It had nothing to do with the situation other than the fact that people had threatened MPK, and it was rumored that someone did in fact do so. This isn't an HNMLS, this wasn't over gil. This was about disrespecting something that was supposed to be a rather heartfelt occassion that was shat on by two idiots who didn't have the common curtesy to just walk away when asked.
When idiots bang on the windows of your car when you and your significant other are making out, you don't have the right to run them over with your car after the fact.
The issue should have been over when they stopped bothering you. Plain and simple. The fact that someone took it to an unnecessary extreme, and that others in the party SUPPORT such extremes, is the hypocricy I'm trying to show here. It's never ok to break the rules or grief another player...
Unless of course they've done something to inconvenience you in the past. Or didn't do exactly what you wanted. If that's the case, I feel perfectly justifed running goblin trains to anyone who's looked at me cross-eyed or /slapped me in game. Seem fair?
