socom confrontation

I wouldn't doubt it. It use to be fantastic on Live too, little to no lag at all. Now the game is a piece of shit. It went from bein' a top 5 game for me to complete trash in just few days. I kept hopin' they'll fix it but given all the good stuff that is about to hit, I could really care less.

Raider, I really haven't had much lag but I'll agree this game definitely feels 100x better than MGO in every way and has way less lag. However, the MGO team has an excuse of the game bein' a "second thought" type deal. The sticks are a lot tighter too and that made all the difference in the world to me. I hated the sticks in MGO. I do hate the six-axis use, it's not the least bit user friendly and it just gets in the way. If you use the ACOG scope, prolly others as well, it'll completely take you out of your scope's zoom and ruin everything you just scoped for. I look for them to fix that, it's just horrible. Whoever came up with that idea should be fired and black listed from the industry.

Infinity Ward does not care at all Strid. They gave us three terrible maps and new death cams and called it a year. They do not care at all, they have there gil... I mean money...

This makes it even more rediculously funny how people hate on Halo and Bungie when they are still supporting their game 100% and tweaking it always. They are even trying to add another 750 achievement points >.>

On the topic of Socom i will be harassing you for a code very soon Strid. Soon like, later today. Thanks man.

I don't really care for the Halo games but I've always liked Bungie's attitude toward their game. Gotta give them that for sure. I agree with you on IW, all of us who wanted CoD4 to be or everything are boned.

Hopefully I can give you one. I gave one out to a guy and I think he gave it to someone else but I'll make sure. I was actually, for some strange reason, thinkin' I should hold one for you. I just figured by yesterday I hadn't got any request so you must have gotten one from a pre-order or elsewhere. This game is tits though.

Thanks a bunch Strid. If ya get one you can send me the code in a PM?

Yeah, I'm in class right now. I'll get home around 2:30-3:00, I hope, and see what I can do. Might want to check with the other two in here offerin' keys too, if you haven't already, just in case mine are actually used up.

48-20 with STG had to stop cause the rest of the team quit. I can't wait to play me up some frost fire again.

startin' to worry about this game, more so Slant 6 really. First off, it's near release and as far as completed goes it's, well, largely unfinished. The patch they implemented yesterday, to address various issues, did nothing but erase saved player data and cause more people to hang-up durin' gameplay. The game's sound goes in and out and back in but not in order, i.e. One min. it's fine, the next min. you have no sound for as long as the game decides, then the next you have enviroment sound (music, noise, the non-player gunfire) but not interaction sound (footsteps, player gunfire, etc.). A game shouldn't be havin' sound problems at this point...

Anyone else also wonder why they added more servers when the ones they have aren't even workin'? I thought that was funny. I guess in a lay-out outlook it's the thing to do but I got a kick out of it none-the-less. I don't understand why they dropped a lot of the U.S. servers either.

I hope they (Slant 6) aren't as bad as I'm thinkin'. Gameplay wise it's a really, really fun game... when it works right. However, unless they get their asses in gear or delay the release, this game is, initially at the very least, goin' to be garbage. So far they are awesome at fun and suck dick for coc at work.

I think you're over worrying a bit. The point of beta tests is to find and then fix glitches and such, it's not a demo. They're in the debugging stage. The things that are set in stone are the things you like, the troubles is what they're working on.

Eh, I dunno. For as far as they've come with this game it should be in better shape. I've never run into sound bugs in even a closed beta, heh. I'm sure they'll fix it all up or hire people to fix it for them but I was expectin' a little more at this point is all. It just seems like they need to fix a lot and don't have the time considerin' they don't even know how to patch their own game, a pot-shot for yesterdays patch.

Yeah idk about this patch man. I wan't havent to many problems aside from lag, but I just joined a room and not only did my sound cut out and I can't hear anything, but my game dropped to like 12 fps. I can hardly move and cant shoot shit. And when I throw a grenade it goes like super slow mo and blows up like 3 feet from where i threw it. So I tried to quit the game and after about 5 mins of quitting I just shut my PS3 off.

Youre right though strid, when its on its on. Its just had to get it there.

D/L'ing the client as I type this.

Socom Confrontation update 1.30 now available

Just a quick heads about the new Socom Confrontation update. It is now available to download. Lets hope it fixes what needs fixing.

Below are the update notes.

* Abnormally long network synchronization issues when some users in a game have a poor network connection. This issue causes 4-7 minute (or longer) load times when late joining a game.
* Fixed an issue where respawn game late joiners were sometimes stuck in spectator mode and could not respawn into the game.
* Removed the latency detection network test which was causing some users with poor network connections to receive the network latency icon (red X).
* Fixed an issue where clients with different client versions (patches) could play together in a default medley game.
* Fixed an issue where if the session master leaves the game, late joiners could not “green up” and late join into the game.
* Fixed corrupt characters in the European and Japanese EULAs and Server News.
* Fixed many join game issues and made joining a game quicker. We are still optimizing this.
* Fixed an issue where if you add and then remove someone from your block list they were still unable to send you a message.
* Improved accuracy while moving (based on user feedback). Partial implementation. More improvements to come.
* Reduced the encumbrance penalty (based on user feedback).
* Changed the default round time for Medley games from 8 minutes to 6 minutes (based on user feedback).

Remaining bugs are:-

* Some late joiners have really bad framerate (5fps) and crash if they exit the game from the start menu. This happens at approximately 1/50 frequency.
* Some late joiners will get stuck on the round complete screen. This is timing dependent.
* Some users will crash in-game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency (games).
* Some late joiners get stuck on the loading screen, loading into a game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency.
* Green or corrupted particles appear for RPG, C4 and AT4 explosions. This happens at approximately 1/4 frequency (users).
* Further tuning and tweaking based on user feedback.

The FPS shit needs to be fixed for sure, even if it happens less that shit is whack. Also it didn't even address the sound issues which is also pretty shitty. They need to extended the beta through october and push release back a month because they are still doing some major tweeks "due to player feedback" which is pretty late in the process. Although I guess they can always do tweeks after release and I wouldn't mind some more maps....

Just installed it, still blows. You do load up a little faster but first game I joined had like 3 fps so i joined a second which was good. But sound cut out on both of them and so I said fuck this and turned my ps3 off.

Aye, it's not any better here either. Load wise it improved, slightly, HOWEVER, the sound issue happens more times now than it did when the load was still bad, bad. I don't like the encumbrance and recoil changes, they were fine as is and added more of a challenge but the sub machine guns needed to be adjusted, they virtually have zero recoil which is stupid... subs kick like a mofo.

I had absolutely no problem with recoil at all. It was probably all the noob mofos who cant hit shit anyways who were crying about how hard it is. If i can go 95-50 the recoil is fine.

Seriously, They shouldn't have changed anything, game play wise. Now that everything is about like the F90, it's back to spray and pray friendly. These guys are massive fail, it's a shame they made a fun game.

We are happy to announce that the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.40 Patch will be released on Friday, September 26th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM Confrontation 1.40 patch addresses the following issues:

* Fixed an issue which was causing an abnormally large number of simultaneous kills.
* Optimized the Armory so that selecting weapons, attachments and general menu navigation are much faster.
* Fixed another issue where you could get stuck in spectator cam when late joining a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have very low framerate and crash when exiting a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have no audio.

* Statistics improvements. Statistics are now being tracked at the team level and not the player level. This will ensure stats are tracked for dropped and late joining players.
* Further improved load times for late joiners.
* Fixed several stability issues.

The following changes were made based on user feedback:

* Added new burst firing accuracy tuning when moving. You are now more accurate for the initial burst while moving but accuracy deteriorates as you continue to fire more shots.
* Scopes are now accurate.
* The select screen scoreboard is now exited by pressing the select button.
* Improved tiebreaker rules.
* New HUD animation to indicate when you are reloading.
* Crosshairs now turn grey when your magazine is empty.

We are actively looking into the following issues which are known to exist in the 1.40 patch. These issues will be fixed in a future update.

* The select screen scoreboard, round complete and game complete screens appear blank.
* Infrequently, some users loose controller functionality for a couple of seconds.

Please note, this patch also adds game logic to limit the number of people who can late join a game to 5 at a time. If more than 5 people attempt to late join the game you receive a "Game Full" error even though there are still slots in the game. This will be improved in a future update.

Also note, the network latency detection has been added back in. We believe that we have now worked out most of the issues with this. Please report in the SOCOM Confrontation PlayStation.com forums if you are seeing the "red X" disconnect icon under normal gameplay conditions.

Regards,
SOCOM Confrontation Online Team

Got to give them credit for staying on top of this shit, even though it really shouldn't be happening this late in development anyway. I don't think i've ever been in a beta with this many changes. Well we'll see tomorrow if the audio and fps shit is fixed and if it is I'll probably start back up playing this. Those were my only two issues and I did enjoy the game when it first came out. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Meh, I pulled my pre-order to go towards Fracture. Despite their work I think I'ma just sit this one out for a while.

Installing ill post how it is in a couple.

Edit: You should check it out strid, everything seems to be working good now. Other than the scoreboard not working in a game a joined (which they addressed in the release notes) I was raping people pretty good. No fps or sound problems so I enjoyed the couple games i played.

Word, I'm glad they got it all worked out. I'm still kind of pissed about the recoil change though. They made the game easy for the idiots.

Well full version is out today gonna pick it up on my way home from school. Can't wait to own some bitchs on frost fire, its been to long. Also looking forward to some single player and Co-op. Anyone else getting this today and up for some co-op?

Other than that I just hope they didnt fuck anything up with this final build. The last patch of the beta was pretty solid aside from acouple freezes i got. Hopefully its all good though.
