I had to take one of those 4 hours classes where they show us pictures of mangled corpses from road accidents. I must have a morbid sense of humor because I found a few of them kind of amusing.

But as far as windower is concerned, I could be wrong, being as I'm admittedly just talking out of my ass, but I don't believe it's detectable. Using something, like, for example Mr. Argus however is very detectable and might land a person on the flameboard. Dum di dum!

"Directly above" Go locate your post and my post about the issue, it is on a different page and not above mine at all. Btw I was responding to Firestreak on the stop sign issue or do you not read anyone else's posts but yours and mine? Who has tunnel vision again?

I've almost been hit by several people who "didn't fully stop" at stop signs. In all those cases, I had to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision. I'm lucky there was no oncoming traffic in any of those cases.

Not FULLY stopping leads to the inevitable question of how slow is slow enough? 2? 5? 10? How slow do you have to go to be safe at a Stop sign? (hint: the correct answer is 0) I've seen people "california roll" through stop signs which were COMPLETELY BLIND to the traffic they were merging onto.

The sign says STOP, and usually it says STOP for a damn fucking good reason.
 
I do normally stop fully. But I'm not sure you know, at least in my state, what a "full legal stop" is.

You have to hold down the brake, it has to stop, you have to feel the car roll back slightly and then you wait 2-4 seconds.

When I see a stop sign, I always break to the point I'm nearly not moving. If I can't get a good look at the intersection, I stop. If I can see clearly no one is there, I hit the gas.

A cop will not stop you for doing what I do, it's what most drivers commonly do. A cop will stop you for taking a stop sign recklessly. However unless you perform the textbook 'legal' stop taking your driver's test you'll fail no questions asked.

Furthermore, from a legal standpoint, if I'm rolling through a stop sign, and you swerve out of the way of me and hit oncoming traffic... guess who's liable? Not to bust your balls, but to give you some advice there.

Because I didn't hit reload and just wanted to point out for those who havn't been on the board for a long time what I was getting at =)

Everyone knows Windower is against TOS and that's not really the issue, the issue is if windower w/o any of the extra hacks is harmful to the game. Does it hurt you when I'm in my mh chatting with peeps with windower open? Probably not.

Using windower is more like not wearing a seatbelt than running a red light. It's against the law yes, but doesn't really hurt anybody but you in the grand scheme of things. Yes you are well aware that you could a) get a hefty fine or b) go flying through your window, but for some peeps it's just more comfortable.

I use Windower. I am cheating. Instead of justifying it, we should just shrug it off and say we use it, yeah it's against ToS. If you don't like it, Thats just too bad.

Is this, the mindset you're looking for, Vang?

Okay, well, from what you said, it sounded like you did the reckless sort of "california rolls" that I'm used to seeing (people slowing down often to an amazingly slow 10-15MPH at a fucking STOP sign, GG noobs).

I do about the same thing you do, but I ALWAYS come to a complete stop. Not necessarily the "legal" stop, but a stop nonetheless - my wheels clearly stop turning.

I'm aware of the fault laws, Fire. If there WAS oncoming traffic I'd say fuck it and let the asshole at the stop sign hit me, and brace myself as best I could. If I hit oncoming traffic, all the better - the dude who didn't stop would be double ass-fucked in that case. Long as I don't get hurt too bad in the process, fuck it. Cars can be replaced.
 
But actually there is a fairly decent reason for seat belt laws.

Well for 1- Cars are designed with certain crush zones. If you are not going to use a seat belt, the way cars are made will actually kill or injure you by design as you don't stay within the crush zones.

2. When you are killed that's thousands spent on your education wasted. Or millions more to be spent on you when you have to live out your life in a diaper on some hospital bed.

I'm eagerly awaiting the day Square stealth-patches the software to detect the windower hooking POL/FFXI and gave everyone they detected, say... a 3 day suspension, the boards would be a gigantic riot. Not just here, but on Alla, KI, BG, all the major boards. Hundreds, maybe thousands of people whining and bitching about 'being banned for no reason.' Someone would say it was due to Windower and we all know the response to THAT:

"OMG FU WINDOWER IZ HARMLESS SQUAER IS A BUNCH OF JAP LOVING NAZI JEWS TEHY WANA BANN ME 4 USING WINAMP WELL TAKE THIS IN YOUR SOCK AND SMOKE IT IMA KANCEL ACCNT 2DAY Y DON THEY BAN ALL MRARUGS USER B4 INNNOCNT PPL LIKE ME"

It would be the greatest day in the history of FFXI.

Naw, I'm just saying that road rules are designed by nature to be more conservative than needed with the idea in mind that you're going to bend the rules a little bit. If it's custom to go up to 10 MPH in your area over the posted limit, they're going to post the limit as 10 under what they really expect you to go at. Of course then when they need money they'll nail you at the end of the month, but that's the risk you get to class on time.
 
Who knows cubs maybe when they patch one day the windower will become available for legal use. Its a question I truly want to ask the panel at the Fan Festival.

And I can't see how they'd be jap lovers if they did ban us for using it. The JP had been using it for months before we got a good english version. Which is why I highly doubt anything will be done about it.

I've restarted from scratch before =) If they nuke my character i'll just do it again.

It is kinda silly though, I mean according to ToS using fraps is a bannable offence too. God forbid you should have some HQ screenshots and videos!! TO JAIL WITH YOU!!!

More than likely, I'm sure all of us are guilty of using some sort of 3rd party software to do silly things like read the new VG cats while chatting in FFXI or taking a video/HQ screenshot of our latest battle =)
