You know, I stopped playing these games back in December, as I recall. I'll admit, I often want to come back to them, to hang out with all the cool people I met, etc. But there are a few things that keep me from coming back. Maybe they'll help you decide as well.
The biggest thing for me is the time investment. Even an hour is precious for me these days, and these games require much more time than just an hour if you want to get anything done. I don't know what sort of player you are, or how much self control you have, but consider how much time you'd be investing into something that ultimately is rather inconsequential, other than letting you have some fun now and then (is it fun for you?) and letting you chat with people who you could just as easily chat with over a different medium.
The second thing is hinted at above, which is that the things you do in the game really have little impact in what we've all come to call real life. Since I stopped playing these games, I started reading again, seeing friends more often, working more on creating maps for games, working out, meeting new people, all that good stuff. If I started playing again I know a good deal of that would be lost to me again.
The bottom line for me is that playing MMORPGs is like leading a second life. This results in my actual life not getting the attention it needs because I'm busy working on the second one, or otherwise thinking about working on it. It's for this reason that I keep away, despite how much I'd like to come back.
