Someone's got a superiority complex

Not sure who's more right or wrong in this case...

Zyn was there first and by that logic had no reason to leave, end of story in that case. However, Caedarva at 75 is typically 70-120xp/kill on average...which even at the fastest of kill speeds, isn't terrific xp/h. It's not bad, but not terrific. And when there's other groups, that rate can drop significantly.

Were there other spots to XP at 75 that were open? Very likely, but they'd also likely be lesser-known or more difficult camps that most people just don't want to do. Could it have been more beneficial for both parties had Zyn found a different XP spot? Perhaps, but there's also no fault in choosing to stay exactly where she was. After all, it's not like Caedarva is the only XP spot for L68ish parties either. =/

Twofold morals of the story:

1. Don't expect a party to move because you make better use of the mobs than they do, so long as they make justifiable (albeit arguably so) use of the mobs.

2. Even if Bhaflau is crowded, there are still better (for a variety of reasons) places to merit than Caedarva. Learn them, use them, enjoy complete lack of competition, and avoid conflicts.

In other words, both sides had valid points. Zyndara's party was not obligated to move and ultimately *this* particular debate boils down to "first come, first served"... but then again they could have done better than Caedarva too, even if all *ToAU* merit camps are packed. People got stupidly high exp/hr before ToAU too, it's well worth looking into where and how.

Don't come here spouting logic and common sense....

THIS IS THE FLAMEBOARD, DAMMIT!!!!

Doodyhead!

It's really not about not knowing where and how. We all know there are other places to merit. Once again I'll state that none of those who were in our party are brand new to this game. I stated several times before that most of the "better" ToAU camps were packed. We chose the Mire because it was close, it was not busy, iand we had the added bonus of getting isp which some of us are saving. People need to stop assuming that we are somehow ignorant of places to go. We went someplace, were doing fine and not bothering anyone and *we* were infringed upon.

Hence my point 1. I don't deny that you had every right to be there and remain there. But my point 2 still remains. I don't recall seeing any previous mention of saving up IS - that *is* an additional point in favor of Caedarva vs. non-ToAU areas. But otherwise, my second two paragraphs can basically be summed up to:

"Too many people, far too often, forget that you can get damn good merits in non-ToAU areas."

If you want IS specifically for a given purpose, then yes, you kinda have to stick to ToAU areas. But without that one itty bitty fact thrown into the mix (which is honestly not a huge concern for most people - the general things of importance are 1. exp/hr and 2. non-annoying mobs), there's no mandatory requirement to go to ToAU areas.

And it's very good to remember that. Although admittedly, the more people that forget that, the better off are the people who *do* remember it, because their conquest-area camps are nice and empty. XD

To clarify (damn lack of edit button), my implication was *not* "why not go to a better ToAU camp than Caedarva", but instead "why not go to a better merit camp, *without* mandating it to be a ToAU camp, than Caedarva".

To clarify... I did not expect them to move. And I have never said I expected them to move. I said, you should go merit at these two places. I said this in the attempt to bust Noni and Darksoo's chops for meritting in the mire. I think its an awful place to merit and you will almost never find me meritting there. I'm sorry to all you people who cannot seem to read this. For this is the third time I have stated this. I have even admitted in my first post that it is first come first serve. Again that comes down to the reading thing. Please do it before you post.

You'll have to excuse my frustration but my intended purpose of my original statement has just been so far blown out of proportion its not even funny. To think I would even say something if it was a PT full of strangers.

This doesn't scream 'Superiority Complex'? Don't assume you're more intelligent than the people reading your posts simply because you can't seem to tell the difference between /say and /tell; nor should you assume that asking people to go somewhere else is not asking them to leave, just beacuse you say its so.

It really doesnt Morwen >.<; Melfie kinda admitted he was wrong here....

A few things.

#1. If the phrase "With all due respect..." would have been used then this flame would not have been created.

#2. Ulegand<sp> Range, Trolls, and duo/trio on Catabols are all way better then the mire.

#3. Why oh why would you force yourself to be annoying with that amnesia move! Worst move ever, that's a fact. I'd rather take a spike flail to the face.

Sorry, no edit button.

Hi Caly!!!!

WhiteNerdy.gif

Lavi you know me far better then that.

my DRG has been living in bibiky bay since she was 62. and my monk will be too. CP areas separates the men from the boys. my static went to ule.range at 52. i was a bit rought but we still chained fairly well. wasnt till later that i realized 53 is usually the starting lvl for that zone. i brought a 53 pickup party there......:omg:. i was horrible. and everyone cried about not going to the ToAU areas (keep in mind the idiots didn't know that 55 is the recommended lvl range for starting there for melee).

i will take CP over ToAU exp zones for rising parties any day of the week.
I have to agree with you Zal, I personally would rather exp in CoP areas on my WAR which is presently 61. Reason being, I can't stand fighting Colibri/Puks. I remember back when my DRG was level 60 myself along with the party I was with lasted at the camp for about 10hours or solid partying making somewhere around 70k exp. This was before the whole cookie cutter party became such a giant thing to jump onto.

But I digress, personally, as I was saying, I would rather party in CoP/RoZ areas on most jobs pre-70s.

Chain 218+ when it's been empty?
I've walked in and chain 250

Do I see people acctually bragging about chain 200+ in the mire? Those mobs take one good ws to down, any group of retards could break chain 200. Even if you had antdog in your pt.

A high chain doesnt = good experience.

Nowadays when I see cannons almost everywhere unless it's early in the morning NA time, I'm welcome to any EXP/Limit Points chains I can get as long as I'm having fun.

BLAZEY! :: gropes ::

Not going to keep repeating myself for people like you who aren't getting it. I have been in this game long enough to know what exp is good and isn't. I really couldn't care less what you think of it, I know I personally have gotten excellent, fast exp there and I know many others who have as well. If your party quality there has been shit, that's your deal. I'm not saying you need to be some kind of genius to get chain 218, so why are you making it out like I did? I said exp has been great there in the past and at by chain 218 and a couple merits in within a short time frame, I've had fun there as well. No one's bragging. It was a simple statement.

Once again for the people who can't read: I'M NOT SAYING THERE AREN'T BETTER PLACES TO MERIT. I'm saying when everywhere else ToAU was crowded, and you're interested in meriting where you can also accrue ISP (some of us are saving it), the Mire is not as abyssmal as so many of you are trying to make it out to be unless you or your party is inept.

I've seen it, and no, no you can't with Antdog in your party. The party that Reya had there had trouble breaking chain 5 actually.

He is the proverbial millstone around the party's collective neck. He's that bad. It's scary.

I agree with this assertion. If you *must* get ISP, *and* the better ToAU merit camps are taken, *and* Caedarva's fairly empty, *and* your party's piercing-heavy enough to kill at a good enough speed to make up for the very sad exp per kill, then yes, Caedarva's arguable as a merit camp. That is, however, a fair number of if clauses, wouldn't you say? The first and third will usually fail the test, the fourth often will. (The second test will, admittedly, usually pass.)

But I should point out that you only started bringing ISP in as a justification for not considering non-ToAU areas, at page 7. Before that your argument for why you chose that spot in the first place, was that it was a good merit camp for good exp/hr (if empty, with a good setup, etc.). At which point I pointed out that there are *better* merit camps in non-ToAU areas.

And then the ISP suddenly became a concern only after having your original points debated, and your subsequent posts included it in the arguments as if you'd been saying it all along. While I can certainly acknowledge it's a valid concern and a valid reason, please drop the attitude of "why are you not reading what I've been saying all along" in regards to a point that you only brought up a page ago.

It didn't "suddenly become a concern." It didn't have anything to do with the initial issue at hand or the original post. It became required that I further explain our interest in ISP once people started commenting about the weath of other non-oAU areas that are better meriting camps that I brought it up. Yes, more than one of us are saving toward Perdu items. It wasn't some convenient thing I concocted to support my point, it's a fact, and one that wasn't even relevant until people started trying to "educate" about other meriting areas like somehow we aren't aware they exist.

Not to mention, the section you're quoting was directed at Icewolf and his posts, not anything you've said. My attitude is justified when people are making "points" without actually reading what's been said numerous times. And while I only mentioned the ISP recently, I've been saying the other ToAU camps were crowded since the OP, a fact that several people seem to skim over repeatedly in their arguements that "Mire is the worst possible camp for meriting."
