So a group of us decide to merit tonight, we check around and Caedarva looks the least packed (only three parties). We get there, scout it out, one party tells us that they are leaving shortly. So we wait for our members to get there and we get started meriting. We're there for at least an hour and this taru, Melfie comes in and says "go merit on birds or Nyzul Isle -> Caedarva Mire." Then "{Please}." Now we were meriting no problem, not bothering anybody for over an hour then this person who hadn't been there all that time tells us to please leave?
So I send Melfie a tell and say, "We were here long before you for your information; there are other places you could go as well." I get "Hmmm. like what?" So I give several suggestions, including CP areas, and this person continues, laughing at the "low exp" in those areas for their party range (67-70) which is bullshit and telling me how I'm not getting it, how they asked nicely, how they said please. I basically told them that what they aren't getting is that we were there first; that if they can't /sea an area before they traipse off to level then perhaps they should, that it isn't our problem, and that furthermore, they shouldn't presume to tell other people where to go to exp. All he kept saying to me was "I said please." Like somehow that makes it any less of a dick thing to do to ask people who have been somewhere partying long before you to move. The conversation continued and ended in a blacklist to be sure.
It just amazes me the sense of entitlement this game has nowadays. Just because you are "X" level does not mean you can waltz in and tell other parties to leave. It's one thing if people are killing mobs that don't give them exp to be dicks, but if someone is meriting? I mean seriously, who the hell do you think you are? And "please" doesn't necessarily make you polite if your request to begin with is rude and obnoxious. If you can't /sea the area you intend to exp in or have someone scout ahead to see how crowded it is, that is your own goddamned problem. And if you can't make yourself aware of the large number of places at your disposal to exp, CP areas included (oh the horror) then you also have no one to blame but yourself.
This person went on to tell me how he was just trying to have a good night and exp. Well guess what, so was I and the 5 other people with me. Your desire to have a good time isn't any more important than anyone else's. You aren't owed anything. People are not required to bow down when you pass. Get the fuck over yourself.
