Well...
Controls are very awkward. Graphics are mediocre--But that's to be expected in this type of game...
Spoiler... but ehh, who cares?
Since Sonic is litterally sucked into the book of the One-Thousand and One Arabian Nights, Sonic meets several characters from his world reincarnated into the story.
King Shahlryar is played by Dr. Robotnik...
Ali Baba is played by Tails...
Sinbad of the Seven Seas is played by Knuckles...
And so on and so forth.
This game, as you know, is played in 2.5-D
Two-Point-Five (or Two and a Half) dimensions... The technical term to refer to games that are rendered in 3-D, but play is executed in 2-D. Like Squaresoft's "Einhander" for PlayStation. "NiGHTS into Dreams" for Sega Saturn. "Sonic Rush" on Nintendo DS. "Kirby 64" for Nintendo 64, and NAMCO's "Klonoa" franchise.
...
There are some response problems with the game. The Tutorial missions annoy the hell out of me. It's really hard to Brake (yes, I said "Brake". Because during Play, Sonic is progressively running forward, non-stop along an invisible track. All you're doing is tilting the remote left or right, and jumping where need be. You're only controlling which direction he moves in) ... The cutscenes are "OK", I guess. They're stills of animated cels, to give the effect that Sonic is actually inside a tattered old storybook.
The voice of the main storyline villain--An evil Genie with a weird haircut known as the "Erazor Djinn"--has a very cheesy, saturday-morning-cartoon villain voice.
In fact... Do you know who he sounds like?
HE SOUNDS LIKE FUCKIN' CELL IN THE AMERICAN DUB OF DRAGON BALL Z.
... *Sigh*...
Ever since fuckin' "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg"... Sonic Team has gone to shit.
Well... I think they've gone to shit BEFORE then.
The last actually GOOD game they made was "Sonic Adventure 2"... On the Dreamcast. And that's it.
