Sony gets ancient-roman on everybody's ass!

Props to people who find moral objection to killing animals, really. Just kind of illogical. We swallow many bugs too tiny to see just by the act of breathing. Big farms that harvest plants in huge quantity use machinery that kill and maim the animals that run through the fields. If we didn't eat meat as a species we would have died out and therefore every one of us that was born owes that in part to their ancestors consuming meat.

By all means I don't think I'd have the stomach to cleave a goat's head right off, but this seems like a question of taste if nothing else. To that end there are many practicing religions today that will kill by mandate animals in similar fashion and I assume the goat was some sort of allusion to an ancient greek tradition.

I'd like to bring up my earlier point in reguards to this post also. They didn't eat the goat - it was used as a centre piece at a dinner party. I don't have qualms with people eating meat as long as the dispatch of the animal was done in a humane way - however treating a dead animal like a garnish is rediculous. Seems like a huge waste of life and a really stupid move for sony considering how much shit they've gotten for their recent marketing campaigns.

People waste food sometimes. I threw out half a meatball sandwich the other night. There are however different emotions associated with a dead cow than ground beef, even if they are the exact same thing. If they threw out a bunch of uneaten burgers, you wouldn't care, because emotionally you don't associate beef with a cow. If we had to kill a cow ourselves to eat beef, I'm sure most of us would be vegetarians.

Oh come on firestreak, there wasn't even an intent to use the goat as food. I think it was a really really really bad idea, a pig on a spit would of been better and I'm sure nobody would of even gave it a second glance. Just a stupid idea that sheds a bad light on what could of been a really cool fuckin party.

I was a really bad move by Sony - when the whole world has it's eyes on you, you have to watch what you're doing

who gives a fuck, it's a dead goat. It's a stupid idea for a promotion, but who cares lol. I'd be more concerned about it looking like the guy is doing shit with it

Well look at this from the point of view of a vegetarian and consider how you'd feel about people who eat meat but are offended at the sight of a dead goat. Animal rights activists have for years been showing people pictures of mangled animal corpses to try and connect the dead cow with the hamburger.

It's either alright to kill a goat or it isn't. Unfortunately there's no middle ground for the goat. I doubt your lunch takes comfort in the fact it wasn't wasted.

I'm not even talking morally for myself here, I'm talking about this from the standpoint of a marketing campaign. Fact being it was a bad marketing idea and I can't believe someone gave the go-ahead to pull this off. Companies serve cold cuts, hot dogs and everything at parties and don't have to pull...what was it? 80,000 magazines or something and issue a formal apology to the public. I"m saying it was a bad idea, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore - whatever you happen to be, it was just a stupid stupid idea that happens to be giving some bad press to a game I really enjoy.

pfft, I'd prolly be uncomfortable at first.. but I hate most vegetables (I like fruits though)... soo.. that cow be a dead cow. But.. I'm more of a bread/eggs/etc kinda person (I <3 my PB&J sandwiches). Most meat I eat too is chicken. Second most being Pig. Third being cow.

Well yeah, it was a dumb idea, I agree with that. But in a way it was kind of awesome. Something makes me happy about people not giving a fuck of how they look and just doing what they want.

I somewhat agree with this statement but it's kind of moot considering Sony pulled the magazine and apologized for it.

That's like blaming Cliffy B if your Xbox broke. Whoever planned this party(and for all I know got fired because of it) did something cool. Sony is more interested in profit and if people decided to buy a Panasonic instead of a Sony TV because they have the image of a dead goat in their head then that's a bad thing for them.

Sabs, I'm still not seeing a response to you attending a topless toga party, I even offer to hold the decapped goat and serve a nice roasted piggy.

I'm just going to post something I read on another website:

"I would rather have a goat sacrificed for video games than the rabbit that is tortured to test my wife's eye make-up and shampoo."

I don't see the big deal, and if you have a problem with it, well... QQ moar.

I am so there.

Leave the dead goat at home and I'm in!

I'd still bet that it'll do alot for the games sales and that only a small handful will think of a dead goat when buying a TV and let it influence their decision. Any publicity is good publicity, as the saying goes.

If the goat had the Microsoft logo branded to it's ass with an authentic witch doctor from Africa conjuring voodoo magic, while stuffing the dead carcuss with 360's.... Well... We'd all be entertained.

I still get to eat out of its stomach though right?
