Spider-man 3 midnight viewing

Ya, I know.. it pissed me off. Woulda been so much better if they had broken Spider-Man 3 into two movies...

Remember Sam Raimi didn't want nothing to do with Venom, he was forced probably by Sony executives looking forward to merchandi$ing.

I think the movie did a good job. I am a fan of the comics but I still think they did a good job. Yes, some things are different but they could be much worse (Xmen 3 for example). The comic universe has had many screw ups and changes by itself so why should it be different than with the movie?

*spoilers*

I do agree that some parts of the movie bothered me but was expected. Venom being the copy-cat evil spiderman didn't work for me and his "death" was crappy imo also. I really wanted him to live and to be more of the Twisted villain who thinks he is a good guy.

Yeah that too was my only dissappointment. I wish the movie focused more on venom. It felt to me like he was just another villian but in the comics he was a large threat. Other than that I thought the overall movie was pretty good. I'm not too picky about the rest.

I've had the movie on my mind the past couple days and I've noticed something. Over the course of the films there's this strange emphasis on Spider-man's suit. It wasn't really noticeable till you see how Peter where's the black suit under his clothes to become emo in the SM3.
If you look back at the first film, you see this montage of how Peter goes through the costume ideas and ultimately comes to the final one. While interesting way of showing how he got his costume idea from, it's still kinda strange. Then in second film you see how he "loses" his powers when he throws his suit away. Maybe it's more of a mental thing but still strange how he can't use any of his powers. When we come to the third film we see Peter's dependence on the suit to make him more powerful as well as act pretty much like a nerdy emo.
So what I'm thinking is that in the movies, the suit is the more of a source for Spider-man's powers than Spider-man himself. Like I mentioned before this could be just a mental thing but still i find it odd there's so much emphasis on the suit itself. Beyond the suit representing Spider-man it's mostly just for concealing Peter's identity. Which seems to also be thrown about in the films since he spends more time with the mask off then on. What really just getting at is the need for the suit to be more important than the person that wears it.
Maybe I'm not making any sense or maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion. I just wanted to know if this makes sense to anybody else.

Also, talking about the suit reminded me of this

Exactly the right amount of gay!

Well, making the suit black when he was "evil spider-man" is a pretty old concept of archetyping characters. Good guys wear light colors/white, bad guys wear black; a good example is the new star wars trilogy, anakin started wearing black in the second/third movies because he was turning towards the dark side.

Well it wasn't that the color of the suit and what is represents that irks me, it's the way they make the suit, black and red, the source of his power in the movies.

I don't think they necessarily make it the source of his powers in the movies. He was using his powers before he even made himself the suit.

And the black suit made him more powerful because of what it was composed of. It wasn't just some fancy black ruber costume, it was the symbiote.

I think if anything, the suit was solely reflective of his moods. He was the good guy in red, the bad guy in black, and when he didn't have the suit he was a nobody.

Exactly. They changed his powers in the first movie to include the ability to create his own webs, instead of him making his little web cartridges; so the power is all him. He wore a shirt and a cheap mask when he was wrestling that guy in the first movie, the updates to the suit are just for aesthetics.

Even in the third movie he was still using his powers without wearing the suit, so the suit definitely doesn't give him any powers. The symbiote suit was supposed to strengthen them, but all it seemed to do was remove any inhibitions about his actions.

Yeah that was the first thing I noticed too. The increase in his power wasn't as noticable like it was on the cartoons and probably the comics though I haven't read them. He might of seemed a little more powerful but part of that seemed like it was more likely due to him not holding back when he no longer had a "conscious" and just went all out in his fights.

Okay well I went and watched this movie last night with a friend. Honestly I thought it was a good movie. After all the negativity ive heard towards it I kinda prepared myself for it to quite possibly be a shitty movie, however I was proven wrong.

To all of you who are bitching that Venom didn't have the tounge.. wtf, are you blind. Now yes, he didn't have the tounge constantly when he was talking, but he did show the Venom tounge atleast twice and that was two times more than I was expecting from all the "WHAAA NO VENOM TOUNGE" whining i heard. Go watch it again, I clearly saw it.. so I know I can't have been halucinating.
Yes, he didn't refer to himself properly, but you know what, this is a movie adaptation.. they can't please everyone, and as it's already been said, they most likely just did it this way because lets face it. Most people that saw this film were not huge Spiderman geeks.

I rather enjoyed the whole film, and kind of wished they hadn't killed off Harry. That last fight at the end of the film was completely awesome with the two of them teaming up.

I do hope that somehow the symbiote survives and somehow saved Eddie Brock from the explosion so it could use him as a host again. (Yeah, i saw the skeleton from the explosion.. but I can hope) I do agree Venom needs his own movie vs. Spiderman, or maybe even his own movie??? Spinoff anyone?

I think Topher did a fine job on playing Eddie Brock, considering he doesn't have the body build. But when they made him Venom he was noticably larger and more buff, so that made me happy. The whole sharp teeth thing (on Brock) was kind of weird, but it worked fine.

As for the whole emo-Parker, yeah.. oh well, it was kind of funny. I think they spent a little too much time on the whole goofy dance montage. But people are kind of missing the whole point of that, atleast I feel, that the scene was there to show part of Peter's change. Now he had an ego, thought he was 'all that' and yet, he's still just a giant nerd, so he didn't know how to really be cool. This was cool, the way Peter Parker thought it was, and now that he was a cocky, asshole-ish, 'I can do whatever I want' Peter Parker. Thing is, he was still Peter Parker. They did show how he became more violent too, and I thought they did a good job.

I will agree they kinda needed to show off the black Spidey's raw strength a lot more, it didn't quite transfer to 'obvious' in that subway fight with Sandman. Basically all we saw, was a pissed off Spiderman going after revenge (which is fine), but they needed to showcase Spidey doing something like ripping a chunk out of the wall and smacking Sandman with it using just his arms/hands. Sure, he ripped a chunk out of the road when he picked up the sewer grating, but then all he did was set it aside and then smash poor Brock's camera. Not exactly a huge show of strength.

But every minor thing aside, I thought the movie was very well done for having 3 villans in it. Some things were kind of rushed, but what can you do? Lord of the Rings was an awesome set of movies, but god, my ass was getting tired of sitting for 3+ hours by the last movie. 2 1/2 hours is a pretty acceptable length of time for a 'long' movie, and Spidey 3 put everything together as best it could in that amount of time. Don't even compare it to the last few Batman movies. And wtf is this shit about Punisher sucking? You people are weird.

I couldn't agree more. You people are tough as hell to please. I enjoyed the movie very much. For all of you 'fanboys', venom was NEVER spidey's main enemy, goblin(s) was. Secondly, if you are going religiously follow the comic books, it took a very long time for the symbiote to affect Parker, it only enhanced him at first. Personally, I thought Venom was done well, and the multivillian thing actually worked I thought (surprisingly). I mean, to tell venom right would require a whole lot of backstory and wouldn't have made a great movie. You guys sound like you just want Venom to show up at the beginning of the movie and they just go at it. Pfft!

Only thing I would of changed is that I would of had Parker go to Reed Richards for help instead of Conners. Would have been accurate and a great tie-in to boot.

My biggest problem with the movie was the dialogue. I thought the movie was filled with shitty lines. And they rushed into everything. That sucked too. I think this would have been better as two movies, but meh.

And Kirsten Dunst, but that's not 3-exclusive.

I take offense to that :P cause I didn't really care to see Venom in this movie. I think it coulda been done without. They coulda split this movie up into two and woulda been better done. I woulda preferred a lot of things done better XD I agree for 3 villains and such they did pretty well but as a movie it felt really.. lacking in substance.

The movie was good, very entertaining; I'm going to buy the DVD definitely. However, they fucked up with Venom and the symbiote as a whole. Most people haven't said they hated the movie, only that it was a disappointment from the first two.

Venom should have been his own movie, they completely half-assed him.

It was an ok movie. I might have liked it more if they didn't hype venom so much and then gave him 2 mins in the movie. Holy crap, screw sandman and hob goblin. I want more venom!!!

The only thing I really loved was the black spiderman's music theme...;o

movie was brutal. not in the good way. first off... emo spiderman? that whole bar scene... just no. seriously... no. also, whenever you were supposed to take him seriously, all i could see was the second chin... toby has gotten rather chubby... he looked ridiculous, spiderman was fat to the point the magic of hollywood couldn't fix it.

I think if this story also, had stuck to the original plot the way the first 2 spider man movies tried to, it would have been better. They just seemed to take character names and concepts and toss them into a movie, writing their own little plot for the movie, which really failed.

I was more amused by the trailers than i was by the feature presentation. (During the previews there was one for an animated movie about surfing penguins or something and they claimed it to be "Based on a True Story" pushing the very words to the limits)

I just figured scientists uncovered some ancient bird scrolls that told the tale of a penguin and a chicken becoming friends and surfing on whales. Makes the most sense to me, anyway.

omg, I saw that too.. when I was sitting there not paying attention to the trailers I, all of a sudden, hear "based on a true story" and I was like ''wait... WHAT?!"

Watched this last night and loved it. I kinda watched it illegally though... Its very good quality, considering its a bootleg, but if you havent seen it yet, or want to see it again, I suggest watching it/downloading it here:

(scaryman1 and scaryman2 = spiderman 3 pt1 and pt2)

And as for venom, I believe he'll be back. He was far too prominent a character in the spiderman series to just disappear like that.
