It's summertime, and the Recluse Spiders of North America are out and about. These are some of the most Vile creatures Known to man, and I thought i would pass on the warnings, having been bitten by a cousin of the Brown Recluse, and suffered a very tame version of it's venom by compairison.... If you feel brave do a google search for "Brown Recluse Spider" and hit "Images". But I warn you... the sights are far form pleasant. From my own experience, I had about 40% of the skin on my left forearm shed off like the skin off of fried chicken, and the underlying layers exposed to the elements. It fucking hurts...

Minor things to note:

If you need to go in your attic or shed, turn in the lights in that place for about 30 minutes before you go in. The Spiders don't like light, and will retreat to darker surroundings. The spider is not particularly curious, so it won't(shouldn't) come for you.

The spider is deadly in some cases. And the really bad ones are located in the southeastern United States. But it does have cousins in the southwest. As well, cars, shipping vans/trucks, and even animals can carry the Spiders well outside thir 'natural' range.

And Finally... Like I said... This is not pretty shit here kids. I found this link to be pretty helpful. This lady did a day-by-day journal of her bite, as well as her feelings. It is scary.

Please note: there is a set of links on the top and bottom for each of the weeks.

Be safe.

o_o... wtf, that thumb pic is a pic of what happens from that bite too? The leg was pretty nasty but that one is just freakin crazy.

I just had to be a curious kitty, didn't I...

Now I'm going to have nightmares of these things and they aren't even in my area. Well, maybe they are since the border line is 150 or so miles from me. Ack! x.x;

omfg thats so damn sad what happend, took 1 year to heal completely, shuda casted Viruna and Cure, woulda been fine >.<

Yeah, my Grandmother's place in Tennesee was RIFE with those things. Though on the up side, nobody had ever actually been bitten by one. Like most things, they're not actually aggressive, but they'll bite if you're unfortunate enough to sit on one for example.

And any sort of venom that causes tissue necrosis is just downright scary for me. I've seen the results of people getting bites that wind up having just CHUNKS of flesh removed to prevent the spread of gangrene...

All spider bites cause tissue necrosis to one degree or another. Its because of the mechanism involved in the bite. See, normally a spider bites an insect they plan on eating, and fills them up with a digestive fluid. That turns the insides to goo that the spider can then suck out.

When a spider bites a person, you're having that same digestive fluid injected under your skin. With most spiders, it will cause a painful welt that turns into a small open sore with a bruised area around it. (I've seen a spider bite on my sister, it basically left her with an ulcer about the diameter of a pencil eraser with a 1 1/2" diameter bruise surrounding the area). The Brown Recluse spider's venom is so potent though, that it just digests a huge area of tissue. The only other spider with venom anywhere comparable to a Recluse is a Black Widow, and even they're not as nasty as the Recluse, being much smaller.

To identify this spider, look for a brown spider with a distinctive black or dark brown "violin" shape on its back.

My brother got bitten by a recluse on his thigh while he was in Florida going to school for the Navy. They couldn't figure out what was wrong at first, but his leg looked 3 shades of nasty :( Good thing he was an alcoholic and could easily drink away his pain and suffering!

OMG {Run Away!} Thats so freaking disgusting.

couple years back i caught a recluse bite on the chest while sleeping or something. Cost me 3 weeks outa work and almost died thanks to septecimia and tissue necrosis approaching my heart and lungs. Not pretty, don't recommend it, good on ya for a warning.

How funny, I was just on a spider site trying to verify if the vile creature I destroyed in my apartment two hours ago was a brown recluse.

Sure enough, it was. Nasty little fuckers.

Do a google search on hobo spiders and tell me if that isn't the stuff that nightmares are made of.

wow thats pretty wicked

Fuck now every little pain or prick I get i'm gonna be paranoid and worry that I was bitten by one those fuckers.... I read some of the other stories on that site... One person was bitten on their ankle and the bite spread like mad. They made amputated parts of the leg twice before they amputated the whole entire leg. At which point the girl went into a coma and eventually they just pulled the plug on her....

wonderful

greeeeeaaaaat... now im not going to be able to sleep tonight.. *pillow edge touches cheek* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *runsin circle in the dark eventually tripping over some random cord or PS2* ... ya beautiful.....
