To be more accurate, it has been called a Massive Single Player Online Game. And it's MUCH closer to a SIM/CIV game than an RPG.
I've been following this game since Will first talked about it at E3 a couple years ago, and unlike most software projects, everything that he said would be in the game at his first speech is making it to the final release. That's pretty huge. He even mentioned online play as almost an after-thought to the whole design back then.
So yeah, I can't wait for this one. It's going to easily score game of the year and be the CIV game to ends all CIVs.
