Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

I can't imagine why him staying in the air and slashing would bother anyone so much at all. Just accept it and move on. It doesn't hurt the game in any way.

I was thinking the same exact thing, only my words were less pleasant.

Yeah, I think you guys are being too critical. Also the whole basis of the game was to take the force to levels it was never shown at before. Just enjoy it for what it is (a demo). I know I am going to be picking up my copy in a month.

Maybe you should take someone's honest criticism of a game less personally... lol giving negative feedback for an opinion you don't agree with. Seriously, it's supposed to be discussion of the game, not a circle jerk for it.

It's really just a mediocre hack and slash game that's getting way too much buzz.

Furthermore, that action doesn't eat up your force meter, which shows it's not a force move, rather a physical move - and... well, now we're just back into the realm of bad gameplay mechanics.

Neither does jumping, which has the force spatial distortion effect. Or double jumping. Or "Force Speed" that kicks in when you mash combos rapidly.

Hovering while slashing is kind of a minor thing to quibble over, seeing as its been in pretty much every game even remotely similar to this one. Hell, in DMC3, I could keep Dante in the air indefinitely by switching between Force Edge and Agni & Rudra while swinging.

I just don't see how you can play 30 mins of a game and just call it mediocre. From what I have played of it. I would say its an above average hack and slash. The force powers is what will separate this game from the rest. We only get a taste of it in the demo, and tossing Storm Troopers around like rag dolls never gets old. Fighting Jedi Masters and Rancor is where the difficultly is going to be in the game.

it is a fun game, but probably something I'll rent, and not buy, since I don't see it having any replay value.

Isn't it supposed to have multiple endings?

I was also under the impression there would be multiple endings due to actions taken in the game that would make your character darkside or lightside depending. And who knows, there could be more endings perhaps, other than just that.

Where are you guys getting multiple endings on this from? I've never even heard of anything like that anywhere.

Force Powers seem way too tacked on, and handle like complete ass. Moving around while using force powers would have been an awesome addition. Use one stick for moving while using force powers and just use the bumpers for that stick instead. Plus, i haven't trusted a serious Lucas Arts game for a long time now. Last good one was Boom Blox, and i can't remember a one before that.

Well considering most Star Wars games lately have given the players the choice to be darkside or lightside based on choices made durring the games. I don't know when they started it, but I do know Jedi Knight 2 had the choice, thats the first SW game I can think of that had the option available in it. Plus I thought that was a really fantastic game. Most recent SW rpgs have freely given players the choice to become evil or good, or neutral.

Plus from what I've seen the apprentice can be darkside and lightside (while it doesn't really effect his force powers any, at least from what I've seen, as far as what you have access to).

It would just seem odd not to have the option of playing through the game and being good, plus playing through the game being evil. I mean, that's simplistic replay value right there. But depending on how much the story actually changes would determine how worthwhile that addition would be.

I can't see them not doing it.

The game's pretty fun from what the demo showed. A bit weird to control stuff and get controls down. But I enjoyed it.

long as it hurts the badguys im ok with it. :)

you wanna talk about off the wall powers? anyone thats played ninja gaiden sigma please example Ryu's True Dragon Sword finishing move. you know, the awesome one where he knocks an opponent in the air and slashes at him from about 8 different directions. (damn i loved using that on Doku in hard mode, a bitch to line him up for it though).

who cares how he's staying in mid air. he's getting the job done and doing it with style.

I liked the demo, will be picking this one up.

I finally played the demo. It took me a little bit to get used to the camera along with movement. And to be honest I died a lot at first, but eventually I got the hang of things and played through all the difficulty settings.

I totally can't wait to own this.

I had some trouble too.. then again, I haven't played an action game since DMC3 came out like two years ago. RPGs 4tw.

I liked the demo. I'm with Firestreak in that it seems like kind of a mediocre hack&slash, but I had fun with it. That's kinda the purpose of games, you know, to have fun. I'm not really expecting anything out of Lucasarts that can rival an experience like Bioshock. I mean, it is Lucas for chrissake. I think I'll pick it up, but I may try a rent first. I'm excited to see the storyline because it WASN'T written by Lucas, just approved by him. Hopefully, we'll see some interesting shit.

Also: Vader.

Wait a fucking second.

You vehemently defended the game before playing the actual demo?

Yes.

It's not like I hadn't watched gameplay video before playing the demo. I would have gotten the demo as soon as it came out but I just recently bought a wireless router. This game is going to be good and I still can't wait for the 16th.
