Using it is an insult just makes you the more unintelligent as you who know nothing about it tend to assume people with downs are.

I'm the same as you Chasym, except it's my little cousin that has downs, she's 3 and is pretty much fluent in British Sign Language (she can't speak, yet the doctors think it'll come in time), she's far better behaved and a lot more intelligent than any 3 year old i've ever seen.

my uncle is going on 30, yet still holds the spirits of a 10 year old with the intelligence of an 80 year old.
Loves wrestling and music, horror movies and sports. Used to play basketball on a team, i remember going to his games when i was younger.

An insult is an insult is and insult.

It just so happens some of us think they're funny for whatever reason. It doesn't make it any less vulgar or offensive. It's all subjective to the intended victim.
