Str <=> Atk

Reality-

Yeah, I haven't experienced all of the new areas for exp yet, and I realize that certain mob families have very low evasion. By no means does meat NOT have a place for 75 monk, I'm just saying in most situations, meat doesn't parse near what sushi does. Good call with Caedevra though, I should check that out.

a lot of nonsense bullshit

this post made me lol

If someones not hitting full or 7/8 Asuran most of the time in KRT, they need to get hand-to-hand caught up in level and quit hovering at 250.

Melee gear consisted of flame ring, rajas, shura togi, shura haidate, minuet earring, PCC, shura zunari kabuto, tiphia sting, brown belt, amemet mantle +1, dune boots, and ochiudo's kote.

How the crap would you miss T-verylowVT skels with capped h2h, full merits and +34acc to the point that sushi is more beneficial than any kindof meat? At 260club that crap cons low eva and I only got like, +30acc. Skeletons aren't the dodgiest of mobs to begin with, let alone the fact that half of them are BLM.

And I'd hafto agree with Mr. Skaw...any job that's geared well shouldn't need sushi vs. low VT or weaker if their weapon grade is A-/+. Unless they're like, fighting VT/IT THF mobs or something stupid like that.

And if you've been around for so long, how do you not know that there was a time where jobs couldn't use sushi because it didn't EXIST?

Actually, as I've said before, I actually parse higher with sushi than with meat. As I get more merits and improve my gear, I'll experiment with meat more, but as of now every time I've compared the two sushi has won. The difference has been minor, around 100 more damage a fight with sushi. So I could go with meat and live with being only slightly weaker, while at the same time saving a bunch of money on food. I'm also not stacking on a ton of +accuracy gear when I play monk, usually the only +acc I wear is from my shura togi and sometimes I'll wear my optical hat if I seem to have a lower accuracy rate than I'd like.

For anything non-endgame or not exp, I'll eat meat though, since killing anything under my level accuracy isn't an issue.

You think a 75 monk using sushi is gimp? I tell you what, you are dead wrong. First of all, answer me this. Are you a 75 MNK? Have you been experimenting with gear/food/mobs/party setup for almost 2 years? If the answer is no, which it is because I have partied with all the worth-while mentionable monks on our server, than you have no room to speak.
party with me sometime soon:)

If anyone that reads these threads has monk cannon'd with me in KRT, you know that sushi out parses any other food out there. I have level 100 cooking, you don't think that I've tried the best of the best food?
not entirely true whatsoever. you can parse alot higher without sushi if you have the right setup. do you have noritsune kote?

Hedgehog pie, red curry, dragon steak, aribatou (sp) (the 30 minute food that uses dragon meat), I mean come on people, take advice from someone who has been doing this longer than most of you have been playing.

And it is not a question of gear; not to brag, which I'm not, but I have almost any piece of end-game equipment that a monk can get. I don't have black belt or faith torque, but since when does black belt make your hitting % any more or less. Anyway, while down in KRT, here is the situation. Btw, I only partied here with a bard.
id only party in KRT with a bard too. its a moot point but you are probably missing Faith Baghnakhs as well as the torque, black belt, etc.

For max damage you sub /war obviously and for an elvaan monk with capped H2H merits eating hedgehog pie (+5 acc and a lot of attack) I hit around 80-85% without focus or anything up. Melee gear consisted of flame ring, rajas, shura togi, shura haidate, minuet earring, PCC, shura zunari kabuto, tiphia sting, brown belt, amemet mantle +1, dune boots, and ochiudo's kote. Plenty of accuracy there, along with capped h2h merits. Accuracy *was* a problem. On weaponskills I would get 13 to 15% tp retured (16% meaning all hits were successful on asuran fists). Now here is where you guys are right:
moot point but above you said you have almost all mnk endgame gear, but you have an amemet+1 over foragers. i understand its probably for your RNG (i think u have one anyways) but you still miss 1STR from that downgrade.

good_golfer13 said:
If I had berserk, focus, dodge, and counterstance up and was eating meat, then my damage output was 18% more and my weaponskills usually didn't miss a hit. However, focus doesn't last very long! Without focus being up, I missed hits on WS a lot. I even missed hits with my Soil gorget. With full buffs and meat, each fist would hit a VT skeleton for 120-140 per fist, criticals around 200, with 80-85% accuracy. Now, sushi.

With sushi, it didn't matter if I had buffs up or not. Asuran accuracy was 94% full hits, every single time hitting for 1k (without berserk!). With buffs up + sushi, I could consistently hit for 1250-1300+ on asuran. Now, when you parse the 95% melee accuracy with the 94% weaponskill accuracy 100% of the time next to the 80-85% accuracy using meat, the end parse results are retarded. Using sushi, I did 16% better during a 3 hour monk cannon over using 1 hedgehog pie for 3 hours.
this is because your gear is better matched for sushi and not for meat.

Final notes: "75 MNK that uses sushi is gimp" is the most RETARDED thing I have ever heard. If any of you believe that I have any credibility what-so-ever, take my advice, and use the sushi! The +1 if you can afford it.
sushi in KRT is not needed at all. you can parse just as high on meat.. but its all in how you set your gear up and what you have.

i exp in KRT alot (best way to make gill can get alot kill mobs get a bliz4 get ls meber pick up sell split profit)
mnks there have mainly KO destorys brown/black belt that kote for 10 acc
PCA/C AM+1 rajas/flame/snip minuet earring/corral
i haste 2 and acc 2 them and we toke out doughnut area in under 5mins

aside from sounding like a nascar driver, i did understand the blizard IV part. altho spliting 20k isnt a 'great' way of making money

This could be considered slightly derailing or greatly but could you rep acc with the word hauby or hauberk and att with byrnie or byrnie+1 and apply the same concept?

Sorry its a question i need out of the way, i'm leaning twoards byrnie for bst but most melee say hauby is better because of the acc>att but with good food you can sacrifice the acc for higher att?

/sigh I hate being the noob

At least for a NIN using Blade:Jin:

Byrnie < Hauby < Hauby+1 < Byrnie+1

I'd assume the same or similar would apply for a WAR using Rampage.

Neo-

I listed am+1 because I was listing my KRT gear setup. Please note that I haven't cannon'd in KRT for quite some time, but when I was in there, I had the amemet+1. Now of course I have the Forager's. In my earlier post I put that I had foragers, was probably just a misunderstanding; no problem though neo.

On further review of my original sushi post, it sounds more cocky than I would have liked. New day, new mood. Anyways, don't get me wrong. Of course you can hit the skeletons a decent percentage in KRT. The point I was trying to make is this- It SEEMS to me that 7/8 hits of asuran is not proportional in damage to 8/8 asuran. A full 8/8 seems to have a slight damage bonus, not sure why. I actually SWORE by meat dishes for KRT and a minuet earring with bard. I was very stubborn, insisting to other monks that hedgehog pie or red curry WAS the best. Well, I decided not to be a noob and get a parser. After hours/days/months of parsing data, I saw that with my gear setup, I was full of shit. With sushi I could use more str and attack oriented gear and focusing less on accuracy. For ME, again guys, this is only for me with my setup, sushi unlocked a lot of potential that let me unlock new and improved damage by using different gear.

I am NOT saying that meat is gimp, just merely that if you have a *lot* of equipment, sushi lets you unlock some cool combinations of gear that you may find even better than your balanced setup + meat dishes. If you are mithra or taru you might want to keep the meat. Again, this is just what I parsed for me.

Neo- I respect you and I can see how you took my post to be a bit conceited. It was not intended that way, nor was it meant to hurt anyone's feelings about their ideas.

Some of my statements were rude and out of place. If I offended anyone, I am sorry. I was just trying to bring a new perspective to the table.

And no, I don't have faith bangahaks (sp). I realize I'm not the best haha. Let's party Neo, it should be fun.

Everyone, thanks for your time and comments. I can see your points also.

Since we're kinda on the topic, I've considered using a jaeger, +3 str ring and the lvl 55 neck piece that gives 4 acc 4 att instead of jaeger woodsman's ring and spike necklace.

balance

well i have been swiching arond macros food and arrmor and experimenting to see what helps sam dd-ws and i have noticed a few things
#1 remember way back in the day when you had to start using a new weapon at a higher lvl "it missed alot it hit low dmg and the WS were low also" now put that into effect of merits if you were to modify your weapons skill lvl total opposite would happen correct? wskill>anything else (old saying)

#2 i have also noticed that str does effect WS more than attack where attack modifying will increase att and ws power str stabalizes, its the difference in hitting between 700 - 800 shifted to hitting straight 800

#3 i have also noticed that bar-element spells from a whm also increases ws power, with a /war my kasha went from 800 to 1010 with barwater(have not tried gekko and baraero yet)

currently i am experimenting to see if there is a good way to stabalize attacks with a low dmg weapon like Hagun, dont bet on Haubergeon, i was in a party with many sams with hauby and att enhancers (i was wearing full hashiman gear) and we were hitting the same so i am begining to believe that with low dmg on a weapon str enhancements > att enhancements help more with att dmg for low dmg weapons

oh and um meditate rocks your socks
in the end the can be only one DD, may it be "THE SAMURAI"

I really don't know understand how that would work, since the bar-spells only increase your resistance to that element, not increase your damage with it. Maybe someone had done something that lower the mob's resistance to that element or maybe you just got a double attack or a critical or something.

ok go to equipment screen and you will see little multi colored dots at the bottem of your screen a barspell makes the numbers next to thoues dots go up who says thoes dots are just for resistance everything else on that screen has a hidden trait "Don't think probable, think possible"

I'm well aware of the location of your elemental resistances, what I don't believe is that it effects your weaonskill damage. I remember a similar rumor a few months after I started about if you wore gear to boost your resistance, your nukes would do more on blm, but that was shot down early on. Not everything in your equipment page has a hidden effect(actually, I can't think of anything that does), and until there's been real testing I'm finding it hard to believe that elemental resistance leads to better damage.

well test it, think possible not probable, is the earth flat or the center of the universe, did men evolve from monkeys(only Tom Cruise knows) GOD i hope not, but test outside the box, consider the what if factor try it for yourself and find out
