I'm well aware of the location of your elemental resistances, what I don't believe is that it effects your weaonskill damage. I remember a similar rumor a few months after I started about if you wore gear to boost your resistance, your nukes would do more on blm, but that was shot down early on. Not everything in your equipment page has a hidden effect(actually, I can't think of anything that does), and until there's been real testing I'm finding it hard to believe that elemental resistance leads to better damage.

face SE to get higher WS damage.

Depending on your distance from the mob, shooting normal ranged attacks and ranged weapon skills at certain distances may get you higher or lower damage/accuracy results. Oh wait...

You forgot the phase of the in-game moon compared against the irl moon!

Romg how did I miss this discussion.

*Ahem*
T-VT camps meat is acceptable for A -> A+ weapons fully merited. Attack is always > STR, but for low delay weapons Haste > Attack > STR.

WS's has to be the easiest thing to to setup for in the game (Multi-hit ws's at least).
1. Find out what the max tp-return is for your WS (Assuming no DA).
2. Max out your STR, then gradually add acc+ gear in ws gear until you reach the max tp-return.

To get the best damage, not only do you want to tp fast, but also to do dmg while you tp. (Please read: stop using joyeuse on WAR, especially if not fully-merited in Sword). If you are using anything less then an A- weapon for your job, then you are going to have problems eating meat, even on T-VT, and the sacrifice of acc gear instead of Haste gear will hurt you.
Personally, I hate caederva mire, as the mobs are soooo easy that even gimped out characters can do massive damage, if you want to test yourself in a melee cannon, go old school...challenge yourself. If you're not a MNK, try to keep up with mnks in KRT, or take a party to fight golems in the nexus, or try the aura weapon camp in sky (chain 44's with no downtime, still good exp). While your exp/hour won't be near as high as the new zones, the old school camps are definately challenging and will make known where you need gear improvements.

In reference to the Haidate being mentioned for crit hit up, race has alot to do with it as well. I use haidate on ws's for anything VT+, simply for more WS acc (low elvaan dex ftl). A mithra would benefit so much from them because of their Hi base dex (Crit hit +).

Sorry this is kind of all over the place, working atm lol

exp/hour in new camps is purely relative to how much overcrowdings going on at the time. Old areas can yield higher ratios because of this(especially so since most are barren 24/7 now.) A max of +15% EXP Bonus isn't going to outweigh lack of mobs.

yea, i accually prefer when the astral candy is taken cuz that ussally weeds out the less dedicated parties from walking there.

Hmm. Ok, so on my NIN, I macro in about 35 str for WSs. But for TPing and regular melee, lets say Ive got a build with haste and @ +80 att.

Ive heard that +att caps out if you dont have str also. Would pumping my att that high be a waste unless I also increase my rather pitiful 65ish taru str even higher? Or will I see the benefits of the full +80 att regardless?

Oh, and another lil question. Is Blade jin better at pumping out dmg than blade Ku? Just so I get the right Gorget.

kk, thanks.

False

Oh, and another lil question. Is Blade jin better at pumping out dmg than blade Ku?

The symbols on Blade:Ku read
"Should"
"Have"
"Used"
"Blade"
"Jin"

+atk dose cap, but it's hard to do.

blade jin's secondary mod is str, while ku is a random. so for the most part, jin will do you better.. unless your closing darkness when the ws dmg loss is less then the sc dmg gain

Also if it is a sandstorm, raining etc you get -35% range acc as well

Oh, God just told you to shut the fuck up.

Thanks.

you may not be able to hit the target if you're not facing it.

Anyone else catch the irony of Tag telling somone to shut up? Seriously, no need to be such an ass hole. You claim to be intelligent, use that instead of trying the e-thug approach.

On topic, this whole str to attack ratio brought up intruiges me. Never really though how much attack I had per 1 str while meleeing. I'll have to figure out mine on nin, what kind of ratio's do others use and find to be efficient?

blade jin's secondary mod is str, while ku is a random. so for the most part, jin will do you better.. unless your closing darkness when the ws dmg loss is less then the sc dmg gain

actually blade ku has a 1.0x damage modifier relative to melee damage, blade jin has a 1.5x damage modifier, as well as the difference in secondary modifiers. blade ku's secondary modifiers are str 10%, dex 10%. blade jin's are str 30% dex 30%

also, the TP adjustment for blade jin will favor higher damage weaponskills than ku, as it affects critical hit chance. blade ku's TP adjustment is simply boosting accuracy, insuring more hits will land

Jin > Ku
