Straight tanking kited mobs

I had a thought about straight tanking mobs, specifically KB and Kirin. The strategy for a straight tanked kirin, from my understanding, was to have so many people share the stonega that it didn't do that much damage per person.

Kirin and KB are both highly resistant to stun, so it's not reliable to count on stunning his nasty spells. A critical hit interrupts a spell casting, period. Sneak attack is a guaranteed critical, when used properly. Kirin won't cast more than 3 spells a minute, 60 second recast on Sneak attack. Its duration is the same as its recast.

So why aren't these mobs fought with a SA pseudo stun order? 3 thf or /thf should be enough, when you're up, have SA up at all times. When you're up for SA stun, you have it up at all times, behind the mob, facing away. If he starts casting something nasty, you turn around and pop him one.

With KB he does have an annoying AoE stun move, but that stun won't last long enough to get meteor off before stun wears. For him I would see thf main for this, so they can pop around and TA ws when they aren't up in the rotation, making sure they don't pull hate with SA and cause the gimpy spike flail move of his.

Has this been attempted before?

Works very well.

KB, on the other hand, doesn't have damage spread out on meteor. the KS99 behemoth and kaiser behemoth do, but you'll take the same meteor damage solo as if with 100 people, doesn't work.

Kirin works. I've seen it done in my last ls, but it does seem to cost a bit more xp for the tanks than just kiting. Saves a few mins though :|

I said it works... >.>

My point is, why take that damage, when you don't have to? You can eat waterga III from genbu, or have a stun order. Why not do the same when you straight tank kirin? You are completely missing the post.

edit: misread, it's possible, somthing interesting to try.

Does kirin's stonega IV really would get interupted by a THF's SA?
has it been proven yet? Coz we had a lot of meelee/thf chasing kirin when it's kited. When it casts a spell a lot of meelee would crit on it and the spell would still go off.

That's part of my question, I know critical hit interrupts you no matter what, outside manafont. I watched meteor get interrupted by a crit on Kaiser Behemoth on Sunday, and got to thinking. HNM might be different. Mobs in general might be different. This is an idea for discussion, not a proven foolproof strategy.

I interupted the meteor :P

And no, I havent been able to interupt kirin with criticals.

straight tanking kirin is actually pretty easy, even if pld's do it, also makes the kill go much faster, you need a little more whm support but it's nothing 3-4 skilled whms couldn't handle. just get a bunch of people in the AoE and pray that your pld's are HPed out enough that they can survive stone 5 and quake ^^/
