Street Fighter IV vids

I played online today, it was good fun, makes me realize I need to work harder at this. Out of nearly 20 online matches I only won 1 match. I'll just stick to learning Ryu's moveset for now.

Better than another person playing as Ken.

Ken has traditionally been better in the games after all. Not so this time. I think I'll have to pick this up now though. I really didn't want to buy another peripheral for a game, but I suppose I could use it for Soul Calibur IV too.

More commenting on the fact that if you play SFIV online there is a 99% chance you will play against a ken. I've played about 29 kens, 1 akuma, and a blanka that spammed electric attack.

I usually pick Sakura right away, but sometimes i feel like being an asshole so i choose Seth. The other person will sit in the character screen, highlight every character. "Hmmmmmm, who should i cho-KEN!" Never taking less than 2 minutes to choose.

Yeah, one of the matches I fought online was exactly like that, he hit once, and then spammed the electricity for the rest of the match >_>

Beated Gouken in Hardest mode and got a silver cup.
Pretty easy, just use Zangief's PPP move, you're find how amazing it is VS AI.
I'm not joking, everyone can do that, Zangief's PPP ftw.

I've fought 100+ online ranking battles but never seen anyone using Seth, maybe it's just a cheap character so no one should use him. That may explain why you've waited 2 minutes.

Oh he is a terribly cheap character. He's also really difficult to use well. I can teleport - teleport - teleport - grab almost consistently. Which makes people usually quit after the first round.

I'm suprised people are having such a tough time with Seth, I felt like Gil from SF3 was a harder boss than Seth. Sure he's cheap, but his AI is fairly predictable and certain characters have moves that he'll never block (Bison's sweep and Cammy cannonball throw).

I dunno, I think people need to be playing some King of Fighters games before they call Seth a challenge, there's been much worse bosses in fighting games.

Online I've been enjoying it all weekend. I'm sticking with Sakura, she has some nice EX combos that juggle in the air, and her Focus Attack seems like it has good range. I was also liking Abel, his combos seem good, but I haven't practiced much with him.

The one thing thats killing me is challenge mode, the specific character trials. Some of the combos seem damn near impossible with a xbox controller, analog or d-pad, I can't get the timing right for the high level ones.

Also, Guile's sweep. He always tries to Focus absorb it, but takes the hit from the second part of the sweep.

I can't even beat Sagat's level 1 training challenge. His 4th thing the game wants you to do is just crazy to even try.

Yeah I have way more of a problem with the cheap little whore that is C. Viper. Granted I'm playing on the 360's d-pad, which angers me. My arcade stick is in the mail. lol

The standard edition arcade stick from Madcatz or one of the really nice Hori fightsticks? If it is the Madcatz ones, there is roughly an 80% chance of it being defective. Not just because its Madcatz, but because there is an actual defect in the stick. Not in the pad or tournament edition stick, though.

I got the cheaper Hori one. It's really not that bad. Friend has that and the Madcatz fight stick, and the little washer in the joystick sticks, but that's really not too hard to fix, plus more use out of it seems to be grinding it down lol

I've now unlocked Sakura, Dan, Cammy and Gen. Plus, WTF is up with Chun-Li's move set O_O

It's incredibly complex! Especially her Ultra Combo, oh my goodness! Charge left charge right left right kick. Holy crap...

Someone's never played Alpha. Check out the charge characters supers.

Charge downleft, charge forward, 3/4 circle back, diagonal to forwardup, HK.

Ok, I know I'm a little late to the party, but anyone and everyone who was responsible for Seth deserves to be anal raped by the guy that played Zangief in the movie.

First of all, in a game where back=block, teleporting is already game breaking. Then to top it off, he has access to a bunch of the best moves of other characters. (This is why we haven't seen Necrid anymore.) And if it's not bad enough that he has ultra's as standard moves, he can just toss out a Shinryuken at will to cancel my Shoryu-reppa. That's my f-cking Super.

Seth really isn't that bad. Seth falls into a lot of patterns. Also moving around really messes with his AI. The only person I really have any sort of problem with Seth is Vega, but that's because they've nerfed him to the ground. That'll happen when you're top tier in pretty much every other game you're in.

Akuma and Bison have traditionally had teleports too, and they tend to be the worst moves in their list. Seth can just do it rapidly, and at a larger range.

Blanka's ball(back, forward punch, E. Honda's slap, and Guile's flash kick (the EX versions of these moves especially) are all excellent for stuffing supers. Blanka's EX ball, timed right, can actually pass through Ryu's super/ultra, among others. Zangief can also be a giant jackass with his green-hand (don't know the actual move) and his lariat. Some characters have frames of invincibility, and some just have priority.

Why are you using Supers anyway? Unless you're doing a challenge where EX moves are disabled, you're really better off using those.

It was just one of those times where I had an opening and went for it. I've never really been much for 2D fighters, haven't played one since Darkstalkers 3.

Honestly, during the first round, Seth is easy as pie. He constantly uses that shoulder charge attack and the medium punch Shoryuken just eats him alive. I think I'll do what others have suggested and just set it to one round to unlock characters.

In other news, now that I've cooled down from getting spanked by Seth, I'd just like to play my favorite clip from the first SF movie.

Gotta love that big galoot.

Well he is kinda retarded the first round. Then he judges you worth of his true ability or some such BS.
If you set it to 1 round matches, Seth will start out in his powered up form. Still totally the way to go for unlocking characters.
Also, you don't need to beat the entire arcade mode with one character to unlock things (excepting unlocking Akuma and Gouken). If you're unlocking Sakura for instance, you could beat all rounds but Seth with Ken, and intentionally lose and switch the character to Ryu, and you'll still unlock Sakura.
However, the other matches generally give you some practice with said character. *shrug*
