What's a good method to relieve stress...?

I've been stressed/depressed/anxious outta my miiiind lately, it's messing with school, home, friends, and sleep. I just want it to gooo awaaaay.

Anti depressants never really seemed to help me. I took those for over 2 years, they never helped.

Please don't say things like "go get laid," or even "DIY", tired of hearing that, and it's not for me, lol...

But I'm up for all other suggestions.

I...just waaannna feeeel haaaaappy.

offtopicish-
Do I seem like a whiner?
Coz like...how many me-whiney-stressy-emo posts have I made like this?
I'm so annoying, aren't I D:

EDIT: Damn, how do you edit tags...
I look stupid having added tags.

EDIT2: I'mma go try to go to bed now.
I don't foresee getting replies any time soon anyways.
Gnight though

Try racing people that don't know it. Like when you're driving and theres someone in the lane next to you, pick an arbitrary point ahead of you (traffic light, a sign, a line across the road) and the first one there wins. Should you get there first, congratulations, you won the race. If the other person is in the lead, pick another point farther ahead before they get to the first one, then see the previous step.

When I feel stressed I put some angry music on REAL loud and just rock the hell out of it. Or I put sad music or a movie on and cry, depends on the mood really. Other than that I talk with someone about how I'm feeling and then just take a break and I do something for myself. Like last week I went to the store and bought some candles that are supposed to help with relaxing you or making you feel better and then I drink some green tea and do something I enjoy. Chamomile tea, or anything chamomile related, helps a lot with calming down as well. If I remember anything else I'll let you know. I hope that helps though.

Stress, Anxiousness and Depression have similar roots but are three different things. Can you give us a bit more detail?

Go 300 on something.

Not that it relieved stress, but it felt fucking awesome. Right after watching the movie 300, I walked into my apartment, and just walked up to a wall and kicked it. Yeah, I ended up having to fix it, but it was a rush and I slept so well that night. lol

well why you said not to say it, it is true.

Other ways would be to relax in a bath or whirlpool.

Find a hobby to do (mine playing the ffxi - though sometime can cause stress on it own.)

Punch something (preferably something that won't break your hand or that you will have to buy again.)

Music - They say that music can set a person mood (for full effect try something soft and easy to listen to Mozart maybe.)

Massage/meditation/acupuncture - trust me it helps

scream - yes I said scream. Screaming sends impulse in your body that are similar to that of stress in some cases will relive them, this is why you see karate student do it to focus there energy, oh and don't hold back.[taking up karate work to but be careful of the contracts]

Normal cure will most likely work better then drugs. Drugs and drinking only suppress the stress (which some cases are good), but do not get rid of them.

I know I get a lot of satisfaction out of short term accomplishments and helping others, well the appreciation I receive after helping others. So I bury myself in work and surpassing deadlines, physical labor usually has good dividends (yard work, moving furniture, etc) since you start with a huge pile of trash and by the end of the day you can visually see what you've accomplished, or best of all is helping a friend with physical labor because then I get the good feeling of slightly tired hands/body, dried sweat on your forehead, visual reinforcement of accomplishment, and the appreciation from someone you care about. Win win for me.

>.> agrees with Kelyon

I have a wooden kendo sword, and I like to take that outside and hit a tree for a good bit.
Helps for me, although sometimes it leaves blisters/tingly feeling in the hands.

medicine for depression just causes addiction and other little fun side effects...

I would say start working out, start out with small goals then build up at your own pace, it's a good tool to make yourself feel good about yourself. You don't have to necessarily have to go to a gym either stuff like parking farther from location Z, long walks around the neighborhood, etc. helps.

I don't think you're a whiny person, you just have problems like everyone else. It's a great thing that you're vocal about them and you ask for advice which makes you more able to overcome them rather than those who lock themselves up and not seek it;)

Try talking to your parents about it as well, do they have something to do with the stress? If they do then it's best to confront them and try to get it sorted out, if not then that's what they're there for, to help you prosper in life. Any relative or close friend can do this to an extent but imo parents can be good at this assuming they're good parents.

My stress/anxiousness/depression are always linked to eachother...
When I feel stressed, I feel "omgomg I can't stand any of this, argh!" which turns into my anxiety/anxiety attacks (mainly just the attacks, which are quick and annoying), which stems into my mopeyness/depression. Until I get soooo depressed that everything just stresses me out more. Big cycle. I dunno what specifically causes my heart pains though...I think just all of it together.

Well...it all dates back to when I was in 3rd grade, when I only had one good friend, my parents were divorcing, my brother was getting into trouble...
And some blocked memories...something about being homeless.
That's where it all started, pretty much.
Then I grew up still with sucky things happening; best friend moved away, parents separated, couldn't make new friends--not long, anyways. We kept losing our houses, school...the works.
So basically, I've been having all this issues for soooo long, that I think it messed up my brain chemicals--that possible? Instead of the happy-stuff, I have toooo much of the unhappy-stuff! And now it's just harder to stay happy D:
I have NO clue, just my theory, I have no clue how emotion-thing-chemicals-in-the-body-stuff work, lol...

That sounds....awesome. I kick my car sometimes, when I'm mad. All it does it hurt my foot though D:

Smoke some pot?

I've been drug free my whole life. But lately I've actually considered pot >.> I'm just worried about consequences it might have down the road...will it be worth it? Or will I get...like...no consequences?
420 is coming up, aint it? >.>

Argh, I gotta take my dog on more walks...I started doing that for a while, been procrastinating it, though.

And my parents...are hard to talk to D: My dad is a jackass that hardly even remembers I exist. And my mom is too stubborn--she decides for me if I'm stresses or not, so when I ask for help, she basically says "You don't need it, or even want it."
So it's hard for me to talk to them...

Try crying it all out. Take a half an hour and focus on all the things that stress you out or make you sad, depressed, and just cry the stress away. Just another suggestion added to the rest of these.

I would advise against pot, drugs, or drinking to solve a problem rooted in anxiety or depression, but a night of fun here and there doesn't hurt, just don't rely on using said "fun" as a way to escape from reality.

Thing about me sitting and thinking about all the things that stress me out...is it makes me feel worse :/ Coz I can't stop thinking of it, even after a long period of crying.

It's like why I sleep with the t.v. on, so it distracts me from thinking too much, and I can actually fall asleep...Thinking is...a curse for me D:

EDIT: Also! Thank you for all the input, everyone~ Just getting a response at all is helpful, really.

Let me ask, what kind of music do you listen to? Music is a great way to change your mood. If you feel stressed, don't listen to lively music. Listen to calm music or classical music

Fair enough, but if you have not tried it, I wouldn't knock it. If you have tried it, and it's not for you, then don't do it!

To answer the addendum on the initial post... A "whiner" is a bit strong, heh, although you may have a tendency to voice your problems more often than others, it doesn't make you a whiner. Perhaps it is just your way of dealing with your problems? Voicing your problems to people that you trust to respond in a positive way may just be what makes you feel a bit better about yourself, or helps you discover something that will do just that. I don't view it as annoying, but if someone does, they can find the ignore function if it's that bad. You shouldn't concern yourself with the opinions of those who do so.

Oh yeah, and if anyone gets angry, play Racquetball, it is a great stress reliever as you can just whack the crap out of the ball and still win. =)

Anyways, just had a few more thoughts so I figured I'd toss them up here for you to consider. Best of luck, and I hope you feel better.

drugs like depression medicine causes some sort of short or temporary relief but can become another burden to add to your list of wants/troubles/etc. It'd be better not to have another thing to be liable for.

Every so often I try to meditate for at least 10mins. Give it a shot, it works wonders for me.

I listen to all sorts of music...
As calm as "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday" to as not-so-calm as Maximum the Hormone. Gorillaz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Sublime, Rob Zombie, KoRn, Cake, System of a Down/Serj Tankian, Nirvana, Toadies, Radiohead, even Nobuo Uematsu.

I've made playlists, "Happy," "Sad," "Funny," "Hardcore," etc, that I listen to depending on what mood I'm in~

Yeah, you're right~ I've always thought like that, but I also always wanted something that'll just...quickly make me happier.
But getting happy the normal way would be much more rewarding, eh :D

People tell me to meditate a lot....
Maybe I should look it up? Coz...I have no clue how to meditate :o

pick a quiet place and just sit there and cross your legs, breath in slowly to hold air as much as you can then release after 5 seconds.

Lather rinse and repeat

Meditating isn't very hard in terms of just being in the right environment. Your room would work well if it was quiet and there weren't any distractions. Just sit with your legs crossed and keep your back straight. Your eyes should be close to being fully closed, but keep some form of vision going. People that fully close their eyes generally get sluggish and just want to sleep.

With your back straight tilt your head down slightly, and your tongue should be gently pressed against your teeth to handle the saliva build up and the need to swallow.

Rest one hand on top of the other, palm up, resting near your pelvic region. Your thumbs should be touching slightly as well

Controlling your mind while trying to meditate will be the most difficult task since you have to clear all thoughts from it and work from a clean slate. In your position though it might be good to take a single thing that stresses you out and focus on that for a few minutes to get your mind going.

These are just basic things you can do at first just to get it down. There are various books you could get on it if you really wanted to. Good luck! :)
