Stuff that freaked you out as a kid.... (movies)

phantasm.jpg

My aunts took me to see this when I was 7 yrs old, and I remember every second.

I had nightmares for 2 weeks after this one. The film is kind of pale compared to todays standards, but for a 7 yr old in 1979 it was sheer terror.

"The tall man" appearance at the end of the movie still haunts me.

One of those major freak-out movie moments from my childhood came from Poltergeist. The creepy clown doll attacking the little kid was bad enough, but I really couldn't handle the researcher who ends up ripping off his own face. Man, that scene messed me up for days.

The Shining and those 2 girls at the end of the hall. Fuck that movie rocked. Redrum!

Oh and my brother used to be so scared of Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the end when the evil dude's eyes pop out of his head ala Large Marge in Peewees big adventure lol.

Oh and I was 6 or 7 when i first saw this flick, freaked me out a bit

This wasn't really a movie but its simliar. I used to be afriad of the X-files when i was younger. I remember this one scene where this dude was seeing things and his cereal turned into maggots. Plus there was a hand that came out of a womens arm. Cereal was really hard to eat after seeing that.

Don't forget that damned tree out the bedroom window. That and the clown freaked me out fo years.

The beginning of Ghostbusters was very scary to me as a kid in the theater. The part when they yell "GET HER!!" at the ghost librarian and she goes "Rraaaaawwwwrrrr!" and turns all freaky looking. I was totally freaked out, the rest of the movie I was nervous that something else was going to jump out at me.

Another one was an old cartoon movie named Watership Down. It's kinda like the story of WWII told with rabbits, there's lots of death and blood and stuff in it that creeped me out as a kid. There was this one scene where this psychic rabbit goes into this trance and it gets all trippy, and he foresee's a lot of death, but he says, "...the field...the field...it's covered in blood..." and I don't know why but it was really freaky to me. If you watch the movie as an adult, it's not scary anymore >_<

Oh! I just remembered having nightmares relevent to the Tales of the Crypt cartoon when I was a little kid. The cartoon itself didn't scare me, but I had a bunch of nightmares with elements from the show.

Well my first movie that really freaked me out was the original "Night of the Living Dead". I was 7 years old. OMG I had nightmares for weeks:

Then I saw "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" when I was 17. This movie is cheesy now, but it was really freaky back in the day  .

There have been others that have freaked me out, but I still love watching scary movies. Especially Vampire and Dracula movies. Like this one:

I just love Anne Rice^^.

George Romero is god.

And I am a loving worshipper. To this day, I still get all goose-bumpy when I watch Dawn of the Dead and Roger says "Jesus, it's everywhere" as they're flying over the army convoy.

I don't remember ever being scared of a film when I was younger.

On another note Freddy vs Jason = rox

George Romero is god.

My first horror film I remember seeing was Dawn of the Dead and it scared the poop outa me for months.

I think there was an Emanuele movie where they were stuck on a zombie island of sorts... also saw that as a kid but that left me a bit more confused more than anything else.... It has a whole lot of T & A.
..... yeah, my parents put on the good movies for me.

lol I totally forgot about ghostbusters.. yes that part scared the crap outta me!!!

The Shining kind of had me crazy for a bit only because there's this one scene (I can't really remember), the lady was running around the building looking for an escape, it was flooding or something, and she opens one door and there's a guy sitting on a bed with a man in a teddy bear suit kneeling. If anyone can find a pic of that particular part that'd be super, I wanna see what I was so afraid of.

I never really did understand the ending to that movie either...

like 3 or 4 rows down, ya can't miss it lol. I suck at the internet so I don't know how to put that pic up in a post.

Anyone else who said Willy Wonka....I am so right there with you. That guy is freaky, and child molester-ish. And the Oompla Luumpas have been the subjects of many nightmares often involving Abraham Lincoln...but that's another story.

I got scared in Sleeping Beauty when Malificent made Aurora prick her finger and then later when she turned into that dragon....freaky.

I also remember being very scared of "The Wiz" not sure why, but I think I have a clue. =P MJ.

That whole wolf scene in the Never Ending Story WAS freaky, but it was also freaky when that lady is all like "Say my name" and crying. heh.

Oh yes, and they made a barely known sequel to The Wizard of Oz, in which the Witch lady or whatever in it can take off her head and switch it with others. That had me crying for hours.

I was such a baby.
