Never partied with many Ninja's, my first job was PLD so having a WHM as my healer was definitely preferred, especially when I could ask for that nice Cure V to get full MP and knock in a 300% TP Spirit's Within. Guess it is different with a NIN tank though.
The role of who was to be the "main" healer in my party actually had been decided before hand, and was given to the SMN. The problem was that he wasn't really curing much (good thing our PLD was a Tarutaru with all that MP and that I kept the refresh up for her) While he "could" because he had more than enough MP at the end of every battle, is what I didn't understand and needed clarification on, because I thought "maybe" there was a logical reason.Negorissimo said:You can ask yourself the same question about:
BLM, RDM, BRD, or any other job /subbing WHM at the PT.
Yes, this is normal. Because that's the "new way" SE intended the SMN job to be played after the initial nerf. Your SMN wasn't main healer so try to understand his feelings at the time.
After being "chained" on the undeserved healer rol for god knows how long, he found freedom in this new PT set-up.
So don't hate the player, hate the game.
Judging from all the posts from the SMN's, there is no reason other than choice, which just concludes that this SMN was what you would call "lazy". He wasn't taking advantage of what he could bring to the party, and there's no reason why he "shouldn't" or "couldn't" for my situation. It seems at later levels depending on your party setup, the MP factor could be an issue as Sandria was saying that it starts to get costly to cast BP's.
Also, I didn't say that I hated the player, but I was really annoyed that he wasn't helping as much as he could. I felt that between me and the PLD, we could of controlled the curing just fine and he could of been replaced by another DD to actually make the battles go by quicker. (though I was having a little bit of trouble as I was trying to figure out the refresh cycle, and also wanting to make sure I could control my own MP... which as an elvaan is not so much)
