Summoner makes me want to quit.

Really, Liefe. Any job should be able to recover hp/mp while thier pet does shit. Not just BST.

I agree. I'm pretty sure the reason they added MP/perp cost to avatars and disabled MP resting is to avoid a summoner kiting a mob while resting for BP mp indefinitely. If they added a reasonable recast time, fixed MP cost per level, etc you would prevent that from happening and allow players to use stronger abilities.

Yes, and you hit Crabs and Beetles with less force because they have significantly higher defense and you've fallen to a lower tier of PDIF.

God, I wish I could remember where that mob weaknesses chart was.

Next time you're exping off crabs/crawlers/flies, watch the Slashing and Blunt DDs' damage on them - they'll see the exact same reduction given the said crabs/beetles compared to other mobs.

If you really want to test weakness/resistance, by the way, there's actually a fairly easy test you can do.

Find a too weak mob whose level is low enough that you absolutely overwhelm both its VIT and Defense.

Physical damage caps at around 200, period. Absolute cap with a small variance based on the uppermost tier of PDIF. No questions there. Your average damage per hit will be 200.

On a mob that resists your damage type fully - for example, Piercing on a Skeleton - you should do about 100 damage (-50%). On a mob weak to your damage type - for example, piercing on a Mandragora or just about any Flying mob - you should do about 300 damage (+50%).

If I whack a Crab in Valkurm Dunes or La Theine Plateau - the lowest level crabs I can think of at the moment - how much damage do you think I'll do?

Edit: Oh, and you may be a 50 RNG but I'm a 75 DRG, and my damage classification is identical to yours - piercing.

did you even read what i said? or were you to busy thinking about what u wanted to type. i already said that our DMG class is identicle. but our dmg class is lacking against armored mobs in this game. and fighting too weak mobs will not give accurate comparisons cause you're far stronger then it is. of course you're gonna hurt the hell out of it.

Exactly. Fighting Too Weak mobs that have NO weapon class modifier, you should do 200 damage per melee hit.

If you do 250, that's a 25% weakness. 300, 50% (full) weakness.

100? 50% Resistance. 150? 25% resistance.

If I go to Yuhtunga Jungle and whack Mandragoras with my lance, I do 300 damage per swing. If I turn and whack a Goblin Smithy which is the same level as the Mandy next to it, I will do 200.

If I whack the lowest level Skellies I can find - let's say, the Enchanted Bones in South Gustaberg or Gusgen Mines - I'll do 100.

If a Warrior picked out the absolute lowest level Great Bird he could find (I don't know what the lowest level ones are :-( ) and hit it with a Great Axe, he'd do 150 damage maximum because of their 25% resistance to Slashing. Likewise, that same Warrior could enter Gusgen and whack an Enchanted Bones for 100.

A paladin wielding a really strong staff - let's say, a Primate Staff +1 - will hit that same Enchanted Bones for 300 because of the 50% blunt weakness.

Wait.. paladin can hit for 300?

kidding.. kinda.. but thats good info Tag, thank you ^^

I'd feel totally stupid to argue with Tag, but wouldn't damage cap be closer to your STR/base damage calculated, not some forced cap? SE tends to be as fair as they can with mob/player damage formulas, and my pet Tracker Antlion can hit Flesh Eaters for 400-450s. And I'm pretty sure I've seen Skels of ANY level will take well over 100 damage with enough STR/attack.

Maybe I'm wrong though. *shrug*

so like i said we kill certain mobs better then others. thats the whole point.

Hell, try it some time. Your staff skill is high enough. Whack some mobs around the Dem crag, then go into Gusgen and whack some Enchanted Bones and Ghouls. Try it on your BST, too.

Pets' attack damage is much higher than players'.

I'm fairly sure this has something to do with weapon DMG: and fSTR formulas vs. PDIF. The highest weapon DMG: players can reach is a little under 100, and PDIF caps at about a range of 1.8 ~ 2.2. A Critical adds about 1.0 to your PDIF multiplier, or .8 if you're already capping PDIF. Basically meaning, there isn't so much a "cap" on damage as we can't push our damage much higher than that... though there IS a cap on fSTR where it will stop adding to your DMG: once it's far enough overloaded.

Decidence will know more on the specifics of PDIF and fSTR and all that.

For now, some screenshots.

STR does not change the damage cap for normal melee hits for players.

There is really a ton of misinfo that's popped up in the last page or so, that's just the last piece I picked out.

But yeah..what does summoner sucking have to do with DRG or RNG again? (The answer is nothing.) Mods should lock the thread or delete posts derailing this crap or something.. (including this one I'm writing :| )

I sincerely hope I don't need to explain the definition and purpose of a topic to you. There should be a post QA team that moderates this kind of crap to maintain quality discussion. Just because something can happen doesn't mean it should.

Fixed for ya. And the mods will be quick to tell you they're not going to take the time to sort through every post that happens throughout the day as quality-control. Especially because each mod has their own openion on what's a quality post.

It doesn't matter how off-topic a discussion is, someone can still cut in and post related to the original topic, because -that's- the definition of a forum topic. Don't like people talking about xxx derailment? Post related to the original topic, get it back on track.

You're absolutely correct. Thanks for the fix.
