is this possible? i havent seen anything about summoners doing maat so if anyone can clue me in i appreciate it.
i hope its similar to the avatar fights since i soloe'd all of em at 20 and periodically do prime fights. i wanna sick fenrir on his ol wrinkly ass with eclipse bite.

 :partytime: :partytime:

Its even easier; Buff, Buff, Rest, Summon Strong Day Avatar, Assault, Astral Flow, 2hr Bloodpact, Run Away, Resummon, 2hr Bloodpact, Win

Just be aware that Maat runs fast, run away further than you normally would to get a resummon in before he pounds you.

Actually, the only really iffy thing about SMN Maat is if HE manages to use Astral Flow.

Which WILL kill you, or at least come extremely close to doing so (and then HIS FIST -> YOUR FACE).

There's some luck involved in that... from what I hear it's better than 50/50 though.

If he uses Astral Flow itl kill your Avatar and you should be standing miles away ready to resummon.

I wonder, since I am no SMN, how Diabolos fares in the SMN Maat fight. Would Ruinous Omen be able to take off enough of a percentage off Maats HP to actually be worth using in the fight?

Its a random % damage. I'd rather stick with the days avatar rather than giving up my astral flow to luck :|

ok, ill be going in soon as i am 70 now. any special items or gear recommendations? im gonna treat this the same way i do the avatar fights but wanna be prepared of course. whats the trick i hear with going in right before you level and popping those papers to level during the fight,, anyone know or did this?

before i did my maat battle on summoner id assumed it was some big deal in my ffxi career.
id even planned on having my best rl/ingame friend come round to cheer me on while i did it.
what in fact happened was after my friend cancelled on me i decided to do it drunk one night when i got home from a club.

how pathetic maat was almost made me cry.

i forgot to buff up properly and decided to use fenrir on lightsday. For some drunk reason i also cancelled using my hi-ethers repeatedly by hammering esc therefore wasting a lot of time between astral flow bloodpacts and still won in record time.

im not trying to show off here. in fact i wish it was something difficult and maybe i coulda walked away from the battle with a sense of achievement. the reason you wont have seen anything about smn maat battles is that its such a brainless fight its not even worth talking about.

do whatever the fuck you want to the old man. i seriously doubt youll lose.

Just take an ether that will give you back enough MP to use your second astral flow as soon as your BP timer is up, I used a pro-ether I think. Other than that theres nothing special that you need.

For the maat fite, you would need to de-level to 69 and be just a couple hundred points shy of 70. When you get low, pop an xp scroll. When you level-up to 70, you'll get full hp and mp. From the sounds of it, it doesn't really look like it would be all that useful for a Smn in this fight...
