Super Mario 3....DS?

For those of you who grew up with Mario and is as big a fan as me, you may have been a little stoked/confused when Saruto Iwata announced Super Mario 3DS (made by the same team that made the Super Mario Galaxy series) at GDC 2011. Not just because it's a Mario game (it's a no-brainer...Mario always peeks his head somewhere on a Nintendo system, amiright?), but it's because of the teaser. A working logo with a TAIL. When I saw the tail, I thought "omg no waez tanooki suit is back!" Iwata teased us and said that more be revealed at E3 this year.

Here's a comparison of the two logos from SMB3 and the new SMB3DS.

I think it's just going to be a "different" adventure that may be recycling old ideas. There appears to be elements from a lot of different Mario games in those screenshots. (i.e. Mario without hat reminds me of the desert zone in SM64, the tail logo from SMB3..just as examples). It would be pretty badass if Nintendo eventually did 3d makeovers of the classic mario games. Same game..but with a 3d aspect. Mario Bros. 1 in 3d..no wayz XD.

Well to me it doesn't seem like they're just remaking 3 anyway? It just looks like a little borrowing here and there. Which pretty much every Mario game does anyway.
