Well, I know this is somewhat "old news" but I just not found out that Terry Goodkind has agreed to make WFR into a miniseries. After many interviews of directors and producers all but BEGGING Terry to let them make his novels into movies, he finally agreed to make it into a mini-series!

Now, on one hand I'm a bit nervous because I think it's very possible that my favorite novels could make BAD TV or movies if done poorly, but I'm also VERY hopeful because it seems that Terry has been very selective of who he wants to direct this!

I think whoever plays the part of Richard is going to be under a TON of pressure from every aspect, he's got to look perfect as well as act well! What would SoT be without Richard's "Raptor Grey gaze" ? =)

Thoughts? Comments? Anything? =D

On the other hand... I have no idea how many people on here have read these books.

btw, keep your "omg i h8 deez books" comments out of my thread, thanks.

omg I h8 deez books

Just kidding!
Anyways, yea I love Terry Goodkind's SoT novels, and the WFR miniseries better be good, else I'll jump into a tub of butter in my skivvies and sing Like a Virgin.

Sweet I have read every one of the books on the day they came out. Do they have any idea of the time when this will come out. And if they do make something with the first book and it is good I hope that do not stop there Kara rules lol.

I've read every book to date, and I'm about to go jerk off to this amazing news! I hope they don't wreck it :(

AWESOME! Ive read these books, and they are simply some of the best Ive read in my entire life. (although, sometimes a bit weird, rofl. Naked women are always starring in his books, chained or somethin)

Anyway, yeah, great news. Ive always wanted to see a mini-series, or movies, or something of his books.

ONE THING THOUGH. Im afraid its going to be reproduced like crap. Its a fad these days to take good books, and make a crap movie about them. (or mini-series)

I concur 100%. Love the books, scared of what will be made into television though =/

Shyrra! I didn't know he was making a miniseries! I hope he doesn't mess them up either :(. You read Phantom that just came out??? It was GOOD! Sad that he says it'll all end in the next one though. Let me know more when you find out, I'd love to see this, although like you I'm a bit nervous...

/hugs!

What its going to end in the next book bummer /sigh

Extreme necro but for good reason.

The series is airing right now on WGN here, 2 1 hour episodes for the premiere tonight, 22 episodes thus far greenlighted for the first season.. So they'll be doing a book per season?

"Legend of the Seeker", only been on for 10 minutes, so not enough to form an opinion, I like the actress for Kahlan though.

Are you serious!?

Well for one, it's about damn time! Last I heard was ..well, only the casting of directors and such.

I don't know if I have WGN here.. but dammit, even if this is horribly done, I'm probably going to get it on dvd eventually. I have no way of keeping up with watching this on tv right now. ; ;

I really hope they do a damn good job since the book series is simply amazing and one of the only series I've ever really been absorbed in reading.

So what were your impressions on the first episode? Did they cast the right actors/actresses for the parts? I'm so hoping they do a great job with this.

I really liked the first 2part episode.
The cast seems to fit just perfect for my tastes...I mean c'mon they cast Jango Fett as Chase.

Second episode was good, but there looks like it could sink into the same sort of tv show as Hercules/Zena and become a little monotonous.(being produced by same company I think)

Ah, well.. that's not nessicarily bad. Both Hercules and Xena were great shows for along time before they got stupid. But they weren't following a story that was already laid out. Maybe this will help this series to stay strong. I wish I had the ability to watch this show regularly, or.. at all for that matter. Arg. I hope it lasts a while, or at least long enough to finish the story of Wizards First Rule. But considering they're just making the series off of one book there's a lot of source material (other books) that could make this series long lived, assuming it gets decent ratings anyway. I wish it the best though.

Ok, huge fan of the books so this may not come as a surprise but I hated the show.
It was so bad I wanted to scratch my eyes out.

Its ok to not completely follow the story. I expected this but all they really did was taking the names from Goodkinds books and thats about it.
The characters are not even close to be like they are in the books.
Richard is a such a cry baby. Zed is just.... stupid...

and yet... I will still watch it... I hate myself lol

I almost wet myself laughing so hard at the heroic slow motion leap Richard made at the end of the 2nd hour of the premiere. Speaking of slomo, they overdo it a lot in this show. Like, a whole lot. It's watchable, but moreso to heckle it than to enjoy it. If I want to actually be entertained by a show about wizards and swordplay, I'll stick to the uk Merlin.

o.o That doesn't sound good. ; ; Well damn, it doesn't sound like this show is remotely scratching the level of awesomeness the books contained and that's a damn shame.

I don't get why they change so much.... they have a fucking miniseries so that they can put everything in... It's not even close to right.... /sigh

OMG this shit was horrible. I stopped watching at 35 minutes in the first episode. Richard didn't even know Zed at all, he never even memorized the Book of Shadows...

/sigh

Oh well. Since i know you guys read the books, i want opinions. I loved the first 4 books. It started bogging down after that, but was still readable. The last book was pathetic imo, and a terrible shot at Christians in the end (yes im a christian), but thats not my only gripe. The book had no grey areas. You were either good or bad. It got real preachy and Richard had no flaws in his personality...gosh it got old.

Want a good series. Read a "Song of Fire and Ice" by George R.R. Martin. That series is pure win. A way more realistic fantasy novel with people who have big flaws which make it even better to read.

Yeah the mini-series is a huge letdown, though I enjoyed all books past 4, including "Confessor".
And I love "A Song of Fire and Ice", George R.R. Martin is an absolute genius, can not wait for "A Dance with Dragons", which has been delayed for a long ass time. I hope it's out by April 2009, and there's supposed to be 7 books total..hope he finishes it.
