Correct, Guard is a hand to hand only skill, and only available to the Monk Job. Which means if you sub monk, it won't increase, and low level guard is pretty worthless(I have 159 Natural and it's not that great either)
It's the hand to hand equivalent to the way Shield Skill works now. But the damage reduction would be nice if you could us it on any weapon. Even Matches only hit me for about 16 damage when Guard kicks in.
