TARU RDMs teh SUXXORS

No one can take a joke huh? :lol: Some people getting mad over nothing.

And correction, only taru mp and int own everyone, they have the worst mnd stat or 2nd worst. From an A to an E, yep, it's an E-.

Lol Fire, I'm not going to argue that taru are strongest in mp and have some rad int, but that's where it ends. They make nice whm,smn, and blm, but rdm delves into the melee realm where they suck at. Pt to Pt, race doesn't matter for rdm, primerly all they are there for anyways is refresh and dispel, which a galka can do just fine. Over all though, hume and mithra rdm are better then taru, because they fit best with rdm's jack of all trades master of none deal. Hume and mithra can cast their magic without worry, and still keep up the pace with melee, and I love this while solong stuff. Most taru rdm I see soloing, unless the mob is waaay low level, don't even bother meleeing, they act like a blm, just nuke the hell out of it, which is fine I guess.

Yes, taru suck at melee, though I havn't seen much problems. Tilk managed to do 1k damage on a SC, which other drk have done too. I've never seen him terribly outdamaged. And devi is a great theif. I think it isn't as much as taru suck at melee, they seem to suck a lot more at the two tank classes.

Anyways, it doesn't matter much to me. I'd take a mithra, hume, or taru mage without much a second glance, and I could care less if the taru had a 100 more hp then the mithra for example. Now when we get down to the galka and elvaan... I'm a bit less ready to invite them as a mage into my pt without it being the last resort.

And btw DodgeRoadRage, taru don't melee as much as the other classes because:

Taru are rarely melee races.(I don't see many running around for some reason. Can't remember the last time I pted with a melee taru besides devi.)
Taru are not as used to meleeing as other races.
At least as taru, it's so obviously pointless to melee they don't, saddly it's not the same for the other races.
Stupidity is not racial, at least the taru get a strong reality check, but any idiot rdm will probably melee... I can't count the times I've seen rdm with str or vit rings, or something stupid of the kind. Hear them bragging about having their sword skill capped... right. And of course, since all everyone really cares about is refresh and dispel (both pretty cheap, neither requires much brains, money, or stats to be as good as they can be) anyone can really level rdm without a problem. Even the melee and /ninja rdm plaguing 60+.

I wholeheartedly disagree that someone who just dispels and refreshes is an affective RDM. I considered myself an extremely effective RDM all the way to 37. I outdamaged some BLMs in nukes with the right gear and swapping macros. I kept all the debuffs up and I was a better main healer than most WHMs. Yes refresh and dispel is a priority, but it's like saying a DRK is affective by autoattacking even if he can't skillchain. Those are just the very very basics of the job that somehow people manage to screw up anyway.

I'm not saying it makes them a GOOD rdm, I'm saying it makes them -a- rdm and forms the base for their demand. Anyone can get by with just those 2, and it's really sad. That's how we frikin have melee rdm and /ninja rdm 60+.

I'm not saying I'm the god of rdm, but I can honestly say -most- of the time I try my best, and this includes support healing, enfeebling, sometimes hasteing if the whm doesn't, and of course keeping refresh up and dispeling fast as possible. And although I don't make a huge deal over it, I try MBing when possible.

I don't know if you can outdamage a blm (a decent one at the least) often, might be your taruness, because even with moldy earring and high int gear I found out I can nuke about the same as blm sometimes, though I get resisted a lot more then they. Anyways, I as rdm am firmly holding on to "Main heal? No thanks" unless we have a ninja tank. Not that I can't, I know I can main heal and do a damn good job doing it too, I just don't want to. Had enough as smn, thank you, and as rdm I get invited enough so that passing those few main healer pt's, I still do well.

And I agree, rdm isn't the same after refresh quite, but you still get a good idea of what to do before refresh. After you get refresh you just toss it into your routine of things. ^^
 
Ive seen some taru Rngs that were pretty damn good as well.

Yeah my gripes only mostly come from -most- taru tanks, they don't seem to make the provision for their weaknesses. You know, like an elvaan or galka whm almost always has astras, ect lol.

By the way, we so hijacked this loser's thread. Two thumbs up everyone.

Oh.. and back on topic:

My static had to look for a pick-up RDM every night until we had a permanent. I think we must have had one of every race and to me, honestly it did not matter what race they were, as long as they played their job well. For example... We had a really crappy Taru who screwed us in Boyahda Tree and another in Cape Terrigan. Then again we had some AWESOME Taru's (our perm. RDM is Taru btw). This same scenario applied to all the other races. The ONLY race that I don't see many playing RDM is Galka. So I can't comment on them.
