i've tried to quit ffxi a few times before but it never seems to work out...as you all know this game is a drug lol...
but it seems i've finaly been able to drop it.
looking back i'm kind of disipointed of all the work i've put into my char., my gear and just how much time i've waisted, but its all for the best.
for those of you who know me in game, sorry i couldnt say goodbye...
anyway...last time i checked i had clocked about 270 days or around there...quite a bit of nice gear, 75 drg, 75 thf, almost everyother job to 40...and the funny thing is i dont leave my char on while im afk lol...just thinking about how much time ive waisted makes me sick...

anyway, on to the reason i went w/o saying anything...lol...

so, i over dose on my prozac and advil lol...get taken to the hospital and admited to the mental health department for about 3 weeks...get discharged and come back, my pc and ps2 are gone, get put in a adolescent(sp?) program for people with 'mental health' issues...lol...i thought i'd fucking hate it, but as fate has it i meet this girl...blah blah blah, i know you all dont wana hear about how we conect and how it was fate and all that bs...but it all seemed to work out...so after quite a few weeks im aloud on a computer and wanted to tell all of my freinds whats up, and again sorry i couldnt say goodbye ingame, best of luck to all of you ^^

Thats pretty gay, not gonna lie...

edit: I want this to turn in to a flame soooo bad... its just wreaking of stuffs to flame. Mainly the adolescant prozac / advil "OD"

gl irl

shy, the game is a symptom, not a problem. some people just don't like facing reality as it is, they immerse themselves in books video games and all sorts of wonderful and messed up hobbies. FFXI being a virtually uncompletable game makes it perfect, you could be a shrivelled up midget with 9 forms of cancer and a life expectancy of 20 irl but in game you could be a god.

When most people quit XI it's because MMO's have taken over their life and they need to fix their real life. thus they don't move on to a new game, they try and cold turkey it. you can't just quit doing everything you do to occupy your time, you have to fill it with something else that can hold your interest.. when i quit my first time, i sat around wondering wtf i could do with all the free time i never knew i had. every agonizing second of it. somehow sitting lfg is less boring that sitting not even lfg....

damn man, that really blows. ive had alot of bad things affect my RL cause of the game, im still living with the problems it caused but im glad it didnt get like that for me and i finally got the control to quit on my own. I understand fully where your comin from and GL in life, youll find you missed alot now that FFXI isnt your life ^^

I was in the adolescent mental ward once worst week of my life.

Not to rain on everyones parade here, but this is a video game. Its not life, and its only addictive as you make it.

What ever happened to a little self-control?

It went out the window with that boobie thread.

I once went 36 hours straight playing ffxi with no sleep.

its different when your the one in the situation, not everyone is the same when it comes to stuff like this. it really can get bad without you even noticing.

Isnt that what a hobbie IS SUPPOSED to be? you get inmerged in them so you "forget" about your problems for a while and feel better because you do something that make you feel good.
Thats not lame or gay like some asshole said in this post.
I know how it feels to be addicted to this game, because i was really addicted to this game, I started going out more hanging around with friends meeting new people and I dont play this game as much, since i started doing that, and it really feels alot better.

Yeah, hobbies are supposed to be a temporary escape from reality, sure. They're supposed to help you forget about your troubles. They're not supposed to be an alternate reality where you spend more time than you do in the real world. Seems that so many people have a problem falling into that trap.

Anyways, congrats on finally getting away, OP.

Take care dude. I'll remember those many days we countered camped each other at Argus.

Only thing I want to say is

Who cares what you spent the time doing. If you had fun, it isn't a "waist" (lol, waste).

Wasting time is when you accomplish nothing, nothing at all. Having fun is not a waste of time, regardless how it's accomplished (barring harmful activities, of course...).

Play other games.

That's a good way to get off and stay off this one.
