Thanks for staying batshit insane, Nintendo.

Oh, yeah, that's why the PSP is outselling the DS on a month to month basis outside of Japan?

Maybe because... the people that already have a DS are finally getting around to getting a PSP?

That'd be like saying "Yeah, the PSP is outselling the GBA!"

Yeah.. exactly who doesn't have atleast one incarnation of the GBA?

This is where you're wrong. The PSP is in direct competition with the DS (whether Sony and Nintendo say otherwise - take a course in basic economics and you'll understand why they're competing in the same market). The PSP is not in direct competition with the GBA. Your argument would be much more valid if the DS was released maybe a year or two before the PSP, not four months.

EDIT: Also, last time I checked, the majority of the people who play RPGs play them for a form of storyline, not for their battle systems. I'm one of the few oddballs who actually likes the various battle systems, and the constant changing of each battle system in the game has done its job in keeping me interested with it. Just keep your opinion to yourself and stop trying to post it as a fact.

The only two main Zelda games that can be considered the same are the first, and A Link to the Past. Every other one has done something different with the gameplay. Legend of Zelda II had side-scrolling Dungeons. Ocarina of Time broke into 3-D environments, and Wind Waker wasn't even in Hyrule, as well as changed transportation.

I dunno about that.

Zelda I: Base Zelda game, we know the drill

Zelda II: Very different, more RPG-styled

Link to the Past: Zelda I with a Dark World/new gadgets

Link's Awakening: Mix Zelda I and LttP with jumping, stir, pour into GB

Link's Awakening DX: See above, but add a few color puzzles

Ocarina of Time: Major gameplay shift, 3D, time shifting, etc

Majora's Mask: Ocarina of Time with masks and the kinda sorta real time moon smashy gimmick

Oracle of Ages/Seasons: Link's Awakening with N64 stuff added in and the two-game gimmick

Link to the Past/Four Swords: SNES Link to the Past with multiplayer on GBAs

Wind Waker: Again, big difference

Four Swords GC: GBA game made pretty

CD-I Zeldas: HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. But you can play as Zelda.

It wasn't an arguement. It was a point that more people have the DS, because it was a better choice between the two at the time they decided to purchase it against the PSP(like me), and are now picking up the PSP as some more titles come out for it in tandem with their DS.

And Cubs, I was excluding the gameboy Zelda's from the main franchise line. :?

You're speaking for yourself, not the entire population, which makes your whole point moot.

I still wanna know if Zelda are linked at all x.x I never thought they were.. Baja says they are. Then I'm told they aren't but many Zelda fans think there are links and they are linked without being said they are linked D:

Yeah, you have obviously not played any of those spin-offs. If you had, you'd know that they are all incredibly fun to play. That's one thing Nintendo has done right, they've whored mario off to a ton of genres, but they've made excellent games out of them. I can't think of another company with that kind of track record.

Here's my problem with the Mario Fun/Sports line of games: They start good but don't get any better.

Mario Golf is as fun, if not more, than Toadstool Tour. Same with Mario Tennis -> Power Tennis. Ever since they took the awesome hand-brusing analog spin games out of Mario Party, it's been pretty stagnant. As for the new Mario Baseball, I've played the demo and was completely turned off. The pitcher/batter interface is comparable to the old NES Baseball and RBI Baseball games of the mid-80's. I came in expecting to have a blast with it and walked away from the demo with a huge 'meh' feeling about it. With a 'hey!' feeling and the fact that it's a NEW sport they're playing Nintendo had basically guaranteed a sale on my end. But they lost it because I felt like I was fighting the mechanics of the interface for the entire demo and the whole thing just felt generally not fun.

Oh, and I forgot to add Minish Cap because I haven't played it.

I'm not even speaking for myself. I don't see myself ever owning a PSP.

It's just a safe assumption considering the trend of both systems sales(the DS starting off high, PSP low, and now balancing out.)

It's like the PS2 after Nintendo and Microsoft joined in that generations market. Sales on the PS2 dropped not because it wasn't popular, but because everyone already had one, while the GameCube and X-Boxes sales rose. Once you've already hit the peak, you can't get any higher, so to say.

Will we have a Zelda Reunion style game where all the Links team up to defeat all the Gannons and rescue all the Zeldas?

Like that Power Rangers minimovie where all the Red Rangers joined forces!

so wait.. you are saying they are linked? O.o I wanna see proof... I never ever saw really anything of them being linked. Trying to see how...

what's going on guys!?

Elem the PS2 fan freak is accusing the Prarie Bears of being Nintendo fanboys/girls . . . I'm wearing my brilliant hat as I write this.

lame arguments that don't hold a lot of water . . . and finally some good Zelda talk . . .

but since I was off doing stuff last night I didn't get to respond to this in a timely fashion so allow me to do it retroactively.

Elem - You are a PS fan girl. Now, being that as it is . . . where in the fuck do you get off griefing others for fandom??

Oh I know, you don't . . . at all . . .

Ms. Kettle I hereby wish for you to retract your comments and stick them somewhere . . .

Now, onto Zelda . . .

The main things that tie the Zelda franchise together are the Triforce and the malevolent force of Gannon, some people have put together a time line . . . somewhere . . . but the link *snicker* that ties the Zelda franchise together is a thematic one. Some games are direct sequals to one another i.e. Zelda - Zelda II: Adventure of Link; Ocarina of Time - Majora's Mask. Then there's games like Windwaker which take directly from the timeline of Ocarina of time and explain it using . . .

HOLY SHIT AN INTRO!!

but those games are shitty rehashes of every other Zelda game . . . I forgot . . . oops

stupid Dirgesong :\ when did I say anything about prarie bears? And no.. if anything I will always like Genesis more than Sony. They just happened to stop making new systems and they didn't really make any new games until after I decided to get a playstation at which point I decided to stick with that rather than buy an X-Box just for the Sega games which were few in number anyways.

My point of asking if Zelda was linked would change my opinion if it was proven. Because linked games in a timeline, i.e. Legacy of Cain, Metal Gear Solid, etc, don't really seem as "new" games but as installments of the next chapter. Sorta like a book series with one author. Writing style stays the same but the story progresses as well as the character. As I can see it though.. the Zelda games aren't linked other then a select few and only fans seem to get the idea they are linked. Which means they are supposed to be as if the others never existed and since the characters, music, gameplay, and story never really change much... I'm not all that impressed.

Go ahead and consider me a fangirl just cause I find the PS2 at this point to be the better system of the ones out there because of the variety of games I can choose from despite the fact I'm perhaps more a Sega fangirl than anything else. Pippin was an interesting macintosh system that came out a long time ago too. Though SEGA is still #1 in my book.

Carth, Sabs, Swish and I are all Prarie Bears . . . those were the only four "fanboys" you went out name dropping . . . it's just an observation so peace the fuck out.

And I actually like to think of myself as a well intentioned asshole, not stupid :D

The gross majority are acutally cross platform on GC and XBOX, but that's neither here nor there I suppose

So having identical thematical elements and the same producer does not a link *snigger* make?? Anyways, how is that any different than Final Fantasy Elem?

Certainly the story changes as it does in Zelda, game play elements evolve . . . as in Zelda, but not so much that it's unfamiliar. Now Don't get me wrong, I love my Final Fantasy games . . . but I think you should really be a little more objective, and realize that you can't slag one for being boring without unintentionally slagging the other.

No I consider you a fan girl because you come in slagging anything that says Nintendo, and your song is always the same "SONY SONY SONY" . . .

Example:
I may not be a fan of the PSP but I'm not going to go and barf a useless opinion over a thread where there's people talking about something they're interested in. Why you ask? The answer is quite simple, I'm not so self important that I need to remind everyone what my opinion is ad nauseam . . . your old RE4 posts in misinformed hilarity . . . see the Final Fantasy IV thread you derailed with PSP bullshit . . .

It's not fanboyism that makes me call you out . . . it's the fact you're a real asshole about anyone's tastes but your own.

im sry if this was already posted(too lazy to read all 10 pages)

even though this controller might look wierd it accually might be good and as with the other controllers like the PS2's they're probablly gonna sell other types of controllers for the revolution. maybe they'll create one where the joystick is connected but can be seperated. idk but this is my 2 cents. :D

I think this is the wavebird with a boner

edit, that's just speculation on IGNs part I may add, but there was an announcement of some sort of cradle . . .

The shell thing ive heard about probably wont look like that... since the only function that adds is the motion thing. It would be foolish to expect people to buy something that is basically the old controller that requires something to be inserted which you cant eve access the new controller with.

Ok, that was confusing.

All I'm saying is that this controller sacrificed something it shouldnt have in favor of being unique. The movement feature is nice, but why forego the traditional controller in favor of it? Again, I wont really know till I try it, but I cant see myself playing a football game with this thing (at least not comfortably).

Thats what I like about the DS, it has the touch screen, but it also has the tradtional controls like a GBA had. It wasnt limited by its "innovation," and I'm using quotes because touch screens have been around for a while, and the concept is basically just taking something physical and making it digital.

With the need for add-ons on this controller, all Nintendo is saying to me is "we didnt really think this controller though, so you have to buy attatchments in order to make this game accessible."

I'm not bashing it for the sake of bashing it either, I just have my concerns that will either be confirmed or denied once i spend any length of time with this thing. And demos dont really prove much, since I typically spend at least an hour playing games, and demos dont give a real feel for this sort of thing.

-Ham

well it was already revealed that the top of the revolution features 4 ports for gamecube controllers, so really they've got their traditional bases covered.

I think the motion sensor is a damn cool idea and I'm really egar to see just what they do with it.

As far is there being to potential for add-ons I think it's more forward thinking than a lack of being prepared. I mean, look for example at what Xbox ripped off of Sega's dreamcast controller, being the VMU/Memory card space in the controller. That was also turned into a port of a microphone on both systems.

I think it's the same thing with the Revolution controller. At least I'd like to.
