For around the last eleven months, I have given all my time and energy to helping out the shell. I’ve had perfect attendance for at the very least the last six months (with the exception of Christmas weekend)even when in many cases, I was guaranteed nothing at all. I’ve been a member since almost the very beginning, having missed maybe 2 runs at the very start. I’ve waited patiently for my turn on items. I’ve even passed on items that I normally could have taken and deserved out of kindness and fairness. Thanks for wasting those eleven months so you could all lot more gear. Thanks for rewarding my kindness with a slap to the face. Most of all, thanks for reminding me, greed is everywhere and worst of all, right where you least expect it.

While that sucks and all, if you're complaining about not getting items when you know you had the chance to get some, its kinda your own fault.

details {Yes, please}

a pass on a mediocre item 6 months ago shouldn't gaurentee that you are the only one to lot on a good item now. I'm sure whoever got it did as much work as you during the run it dropped on. If they had lotting rights, they deserved it just as much as you. That's what lotting rights are. A recognition of effort with the reward of a chance to get good stuff. Are you saying the person that got it didn't deserve it?

Your perfect attendance is comendable, but it does not warrent special treatment that isn't written in the rules.

Of course we all know that whatever it was will never ever drop again ever in the course of the life of man.

This thread has "fail" written all over it. You'll cool down next week and wish you hadn't blow up about it and flamed your own shell. Ya know, the people that are supposed to be your friends. Including whoever out lotted you.

Happens a lot...

A couple friends make a shell, and promise things to other people. But theyre really just doing it to get stuff for themselves and their friends lol. People getting screwed in the butt all the time.

When we changed to Encore, everyone gave up similar rights. Next time we're in Xarc I don't know how many people I'll be lotting against for war, but it's a sacrifice we all made to be under a better roof.

The rules and attendance were scrapped with the shell, when it reformed into Encore. That's what the flame is about, not about special treatment or being told to pass on drops.

I hate to say, and I -really- hate to say, but I knew quite a while ago that the shell was sinking, and I told you not to pass that Briault because I knew this would happen. I even told you it [shell breaks before another Briault drops] would happen. =/

I can't express how sorry I how am about the situation Lavi, cause...seriously, you do deserve a Briault, you were in my opinion one of the most important mages in the entire shell.

I'm not entirely sure of some of the rules in the new shell, especially regarding outlands areas...but I wouldn't say you're entirely screwed on a Briault. I'm unsure though, and maybe it would be for the best to just take a break from Dynamis or find a new shell if that's really how you feel. I personally don't understand the new rules enough to give a more concrete opinion, really, and I'm sorry for that.

I personally can understand your frustration for the most part...but please don't see it as you getting entirely screwed. You're 4/5(?) WHM and have gotten 2 or 3 100-coin out of TDS, so while some have faired better, you've not by a long shot faired the worst. =/ Just gotta keep trying for what you want, y'know?

Welcome to FFXI, where everyone who's anyone will screw you over at any chance they get! Enjoy your stay!

I asked myself why change the shell. It didn't make sense to me at all. The leaders are the same, the members are the same, so why do it? It's not like Foo was instrumental for the linkshell's survival. He was missing half the time and for the most part, the shell ran fine without him, he was just a figurehead. So why the change? To set the shells apart with a clean slate. Notice all the leaders are 5/5, it's not coincidental at all. Well, it would make perfect sense that the leaders who should attend the most do get 5/5 first, it doesn't make sense that they would ultimately change the rules they put in place unless they stood to gain. Then there are some members who are also 5/5. They couldn't stand to wait for the people who had priority with their secondary items, so they complained. People couldn't wait their fare turn thus the "necessity" to change. That leaves all the members who didn't obtain their primary 5/5. Those members get screwed. That's me, screwed over as usual. You'd think the linkshell would take a moment to look at it from a different perspective, but no, they never do. I'd spent the entire life of the linkshell doing my best to help everyone else out. I'd hope they'd return the favor, but they never do.

The new system allows anyone (I suppose you need a min level) to lot WHM. The last remaining piece I hoped to obtain was the Briault, one of the most highly demanded pieces. Instead of getting priority with the old system/shell (I was the only remaining original WHM without), I get to compete against all the newer members. Not just that, but anytime someone wishes to change lots to WHM, they can do so freely. As new member joins, they can lot too regardless of attendance. I am kicked back to 11 months ago when I started dynamis all thanks to greedy shits except and now, I've wasted my eleven months.

Ish, I don't regret passing. Not one bit. I had obtained the cleric's mitts the week prior, winning the lot against the same person and I thought she had as many pieces as me (I was wrong, she actually had less at the time) so I figured it was fair. I won last week, she wins this week and we both go 4/5. Seems fair to me. What I didn't expect was to be so thoroughly screwed over by my own shell and even worse by leadership who I would think would want to reward the failthful members. I guessed wrong. I guess it's my own fault though, I should have known better than to trust those people again.

I don't know everything that went down on the leaders board, or between them in-game, but best I could figure is that there were problems in the current rules that needed to be worked out. Lots of troubles getting all the heads together so they pushed through with the new rules. Maybe Foo wanted to resign, I don't know.

For someone like you I would've thought the new rules would work out well. We're now able to lot up to 2 pieces in a zone, and if a couple 100s drop we can lot certain of those as well. If you want AF suits for all your jobs, these rules are better. If you want only the Briault then you're done with Dynamis, then yeah you did get screwed. Just like the rest of us.

Everyone who stayed saw it as a for-the-better decision. If you don't, I can't change your stance and nothing anybody says here can either. But there's no need to tarnish the name of Encore, when 90%+ of the people who received pearls all agreed with the change. They all lost out on priority lot.

As a leader, its your obligation to avoid somthing like this from happening. Isn't the first time I've heard of odd ball decisions from this group as far as leadership decisions goes. Wasted potential for a shell full of awsome members. Hope the new shell gets it down better.

The biggest problems with the old rules was that every time someone bitched enough they got changed. One thing that never did change though was new members being given a 2nd and 3rd class status, or old members not having a shot at their secondary jobs' relic and leaving as a result.

The new system solves some old problems, creates some new ones, and ignores others. There's no way to make dynamis fair to everyone, and every time you give one person higher priority on an item you give someone else lower priority or someone else lotting against them. You don't make more relic drop by changing the distribution rules, you just change who gets to lot on it.

The original TDS lotting system was fair, then was changed to another fair system, although changing the rules wasn't fair. Then it changed to another fair system, then changed to another fair system, then another. If Encore can keep it's promise of static rules, then that in itself is more fair than the weekly rule changes TDS had.

Every rule change screwed over at least one person, and it reached the point where none of the remaining leaders were willing to put up with the crap that had been created by the leaders that had made all the changes then stopped showing.

It's a shame that Lavi and several other people lost their places for various pieces of relic in an attempt to fix the problems of TDS.

It's a shame you lost your priority on your last piece. While I'm 5/5 on PLD and 3/5 on DRK and you might think that means I lost nothing, consider that I was quite literally the ONLY PLD IN THE SHELL with anything like attendance high enough to lot, say, the Shadow Mantle.

Honestly, if the old system kept losing more people than we could add, changes had to be made, and the easiest way to do that is to reform.

At the risk of pissing off several people...

...I sortof wish we could've kept attendance and just fixed some of the rules, primarily the bullsh-!t ones that let certain leaders who had nearly no attendance keep priority over the most dedicated members [comment removed]...

A Dynamis Shell needs (experienced) people to succeed.
(Experienced) People won't come if they aren't going to get something.

It doesn't matter to them that they're chasing their fifth set of gear over someone who has been in the shell for the same amount of time and is chasing their first set.

It sucks, and it isn't fair, but for a Shell to be successful over an extended period of time, it has to keep it's experienced people coming.

This is all a generalisation, of course, but it seems to apply to a majority of the Dynamis Shells. And if the Shell folds, noone gets anything...

just when im starting to think i need to join the dynamis train. at least i was. the few times i've done dynamis i've found it enjoyable. and i would like to get into it seriously to get the rest of my smn relic armor.

i've known Lavi for a very long time. she's very selfless and strives to be as fair as possible at all times. sadly that type of person is the prime target of being taken advantage of.

TDS had rules that would have been fine in 2004, made up by people that would go a month or two without coming to a run. That's not a flame to them, they had things that were more important than Dynamis to them, pretty much a black and white issue.

When joining, you declared a main and an alt, it was set in stone, end of story. I came to the shell about a month after it formed, when Perfect broke. I was 4/5 on NIN, which was my main, only other job i had over 65 at the time was SAM, which i had gotten the only 2 pieces from overflow in Perfect that wouldn't have just been stuff to store away. So according to the rules, i was NIN main, with no secondary. In TDS i went on to get my fifth piece as well as relic belt from CoP zones, and i am very grateful. I was with the shell until the very last run, of which the final 3-4 weeks we could barely get 18 ppl to show up.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that these lotting rules aren't meant for long time, dedicated members. While you could look it at from Lavi's point of view and say that only greedy ppl would get whatever set they are coming for and leave the shell, you can look at it from the perspective that once you get your relic set, you basically will be nothing more than an endentured servant for the rest of your FFXI dynamis career. I know you can talk about overflow and whatever, but just take a look at Lavi, 11 months, and not complete on WHM. There are some jobs that are more rare than others.

In reality, what this did was make us have a revolving door membership. It was out of the question when several people brought up discussing a system to be put in place of changing your main or secondary. Pretty much every shell that i know of has a system in place like that. Like Courtney said, people want to feel like they are burning time, xp, gil, etc. for a reason. Loyalty is only going to take most people so far before they are going to draw a line. Basically, some ppl got what they wanted and left no doubt, but i'd say a large number simply realized there was no future goal there to accomplish. It's like if you were working at a job and they told you that there was zero chance of you ever advancing, ever getting a raise, basically you're at a dead end. But hey, if you are having fun and helping others then it shouldn't matter right? That's not being realistic.

Add to the fact that in the last couple months we had alot of runs that were being sponsered by members working on relic weapons. Those that sponsered collect all the coins that drop, so those members that all they had to look forward to was meager coin sales are now SOL.

I'm all for loyalty, but people often forget, that it goes both ways. I didn't enjoy seeing brand new members getting AF from Xarc their first run, or getting a CoP relic cape/belt right after they joined, when it could have gone to the member that has been showing up every run for 9 months who has levelled up the job and can equip said item, if only they had been allowed to change what job they lot on. In that situation, you are not being loyal to the member that has been loyal to the shell.

Lavi, i have no idea why you passed lotting something that you had every right to lot on, but that was your choice, no one elses. The shell could have broken the next day for all you knew. I understand you feel like you were robbed, but honestly, what else did you think could have happened to the shell other than re-forming? People were dropping left and right, the final runs having barely 16 ppl show. I'm not a huge fan of this new shell's lotting rules, but it was either that, go somewhere else, or not do Dynamis period. You chose a 4th option, a big universal "FUCK YOU" to all your former shellmates. That's your right to do though. If you didn't mean it as a general statement to everyone involved, you could've said specifically who you had a problem with and gone from there. Until i hear otherwise, i'm assuming that i, and everyone else that went to the new shell, is a "GREEDY F*CK" that wasted 11 months of your life.
