Ugh... I am starting to see why Vang is the way he is. I haven't had a decent party in what feels like almost a month... parties that don't have SCs or know wtf they're doing. Parties that ask me if I can do damage. Then parties that want me to tank spiders...!!?!?!!?

So for the last week and a half I've been stuck around 50-52... crawling along at best 2k xp a party due to dying at least twice EVERY party...

Now I just have to ask.

Where the hell have all the good players gone? Because right now I don't think I have a hope of seeing 60 anytime soon /SIGH...

So to any of you other melees out there that put a lot of time into your job, who else feels like trying harder isn't even worth it, since no one else even nearly has any desire to put out the same effort? And all for what? Well MNK do not get invites, at all. I've sat LFG for many many hours only to see DRKs...sometimes more than one get into the same PTs... even DRGs seem to get parties before I do!! What's the deal guys? Does MNK really and truly suck that bad?
 
No its just people are retarded and don't know a good DD when they see it.

Sometimes though (even though my equip isn't the best) it does feel like its not worth it but then you get those good PTs and the other feelings come rushing back.

I don't think I made sense but...meh?

Monks are awesome. If they know what they're doing.

I was stuck at level 53 for months. Honestly, I feel like I'd still be there if I hadn't been invited to join the static I'm in.

Many people under estimate monks, therefore we get invited to a lot of terrible parties. I remember getting into parties that would last 3+ hours, and coming out with 500-ish exp; and not becuase I died. The party was just that terrible.

My advice to other monks is to either join/form a static, or form all your parties.

Stick with it, you'll get there eventually. ^^
 
Mephs I'm a 51 red mage, about 100 tnl. Gunna nab my AF2 tomorrow. So if you wanna start a party just send me a tell. I ve noticed most people who post here are the smarter players. So just send me a tell and if I'm free I'd be glad.
 
well 50-60 is particulaly bad for monk... and there is no way in hell you will get a JP party as gaijin monk.... just keep toughin out the 2k/h pts :p

I also noticed the lack of any good, or even smart players. There are some, but most have no clue whats going on. 90% of them would rather rush in and pull to get the exp going than work out a skillchain, and resulting Magic Burst for me to work with. All I can say is if you choose to tough it out, MNK only gets better past 60! :D
 
The best thing to do is pt up with people in your ls or friends around your level. Ive been doing that for about a week and ive shot up from 56 up to 60, as well as just getting G3 done with the whm i always pt with. What my pt trys and does is get all the members it can from the ls, and then fill in the spots with random joes, for example we usually dont have a tank so we just get one thats searching at the time. You know then that the pt has people who can do their jobs well, so all your gonna be concentrating on is getting all SCs sorted and doing your job the best you can.

I used to be like you, always getting into bad pts and dieing every now and then, but what im doing now is to put it simply, just amazing, i wish i had done it sooner. Hope this helps :wink:
 
You could always try to bag yourself a static PT. And even if you can't meet everyday, you get extended exp runs on the days you do meet.
Just a thought.
And everything 50-60 is pretty bad except tanks and mages. Just stick with it. ^-^
 
I kept on telling you to static with me Mephs we had some great parties together. I'm Level51 now. Farming for elemental staffs.
 
He told me he has been farming and questing Since he bought this game. I highly doubt he buys gil because if you try to add it all up 30mil is aaaalooooot to buy. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well 30mil is actually under $1000 USD now but thats beside the point... I was kinda hoping he had some obscure craft like Clothcrafting or Smithing at 100 cuz I dont know many people high level in those =)

But farming 30mil... thats impressive. Even with no gil seller competition Ive heard 80k per hour is about tops you can make farming (anything) per hour on a really really good day, most people struggle to make 50k per hour (the normal is about 40k), so that is impressive indeed.

It was a JP party that made me tank the spiders, btw >_<

Died twice. And not because of my error... I actually was doing good... used boiled crab, defender, etc... they never broke 300 dmg on any sickle slashes. It was because the first death they linked 3 spiders, and didn't want to run. -_-... 2nd time one of the mages mistargetted a death cap.

MNK 50-60 is a pain in the ass for a lot of reasons:

1) Crabs. Crabs, crabs, crabs, crabs, crabs. Sure, you CAN level off of Bones and other stuff, but just try to get people to go to Garlaige/Gustav.

2) As above, crabs. But now it's because you can't do Distortion until Howling Fist, and every goddamn party wants it. Never mind that we can close Impaction with Raging Fists, and crabs are weak to Thunder... everyone wants to MB Freeze, so you're screwed.

3) More expensive equipment. Thought you were done with the 1M Kote, 900k Brown Belt, 400k Jujitsu Gi, etc? Heh. Say hello to 3-5M Cross-Counters (or 1M for the 'gimped' Spartan Cesti,) 4-5 million for Scorpion Harness, and another 1M for Kung Fu Shoes (if you want 'em) and 4M for Spectacles. Hope you found a good farming spot.

4) People on their second/third/fourth jobs are taking to Monk like a fat kid to a Snickers, so you have to compete with other MNKs that already have all this expensive gear.

So yeah MNK 50-60 is rough, but I plan to get through it once I heal and I know you can too.
 
Actually, I had gotten several parties relatively quickly on monk from 50-55. Now I've been kinda stuck, since I didn't keep leveling with all the people who would invite me.

Regardless of everyone's hard-on for distortion, you can still do enough damage to warrant your spot in the party. Most gear isn't nearly as expensive as yours, although some of it I dont really want, but I was still beating the crap out of crabs.

I actually prefer going to gustav or other alternative leveling sites, not because they are better for monk, but because there's usually a lot less people there, so better exp. When boyahda is swamped, and kuftal is packed, you can offer to go to a new place with no one else so everyone will get better exp. Only an idiot would pass that up.

I never broke 20k an hour even at 70+. Where does anyone get 80k an hour from solo farming? Or can that just be chalked up to people's bragging and exageration?
